Thank you for the workshop, Andrea. I look forward to your internet concert this evening for Austin Classical Guitar. I thought you might be interested in this which is part of the preface to "F. Tarrega Doce Composiciones" by Isaias Savio. This edition was printed by Ricordi, Buenos Aires, 3-5-60. I'm not sure when it was originally published. The noted scholar and publisher Matanya Ophee (Editions Orphee) told me it is a verbatim quotation from Domingo Prat's "Diccionario de Guitarristas.": "En 1900 su salud inspiró cuidados por manifestarse la arterio-esclerosis, y el maestro ya no pudo pulsar su guitarra con aquel sonido puro y cristalino que tanto había contribuido a sus éxitos, viéndose en cambio obligado a cortarse las uñas por defectos que en ellas aparecían." [In 1900 his health caused concerns due to symptoms of arteriosclerosis. The maestro could no longer play his guitar with the pure and crystalline tone which had contributed so much to his success. He had to cut his nails due to defects which appeared in them.] This implies that Tárrega played without nails only at the very end of his career, when they became defective due to illness. Tarrega's most famous disciple Miguel Llobet played with nails. Prat studied with Llobet 1898-1904. The best known teacher among Tarrega's students, Emilio Pujol taught and advocated playing without nails. As a young concert artist Segovia also spent time with Llobet. Later after becoming world famous, Segovia didn´t admit Pujol´s students to his master classes, saying they couldn´t be heard....just a sidelight on the much discussed subject of Tarrega´s nails. .

Mil gracias Andrea for sharing. I learned a lot from what you shared with your love for classical guitar and how one should adapt to the style In Tárrega's 'Maria'. There are many terms I noted. Since I am just a beginner in Classical Guitar. I hope to see you play some day in Singapore where I'm based, though I live just across the bridge in Johor, Malaysia. All the best Andrea. Be strong and be safe. Woulfe

Andrea, dices que es lenta la obra pero en cuanto empiezas a tocarla te subes a la bicicleta ¿Cómo? La tocas lento, se entiende cuando estás explicando pero luego regresas, como dije, a la carrera de 200m en las olimpiadas.
