Choosing A Floral Tea Dress
You guys have been asking me for more style content, so I thought I’d create a video series sharing my thought processes on how I choose a particular item or look.
In this video I’m sharing a few of the elements that I dislike from this new floral tea dress in comparison to my favourite one in my wardrobe.
A tea dress typically has the following characteristics
✨Accentuated waist
✨Defined bust
✨V-Neck
✨Mini or midi length
✨Puff shoulders
✨Gathered cuffs on either cap or long sleeved
While I like some elements of the first dress from @asos there are more cons than pros. I focus first on how the overall fit is. I am a size UK 10 in most dresses from ASOS and I’m 5’8 with an hourglass figure and my torso is where I gain most of my height as opposed to having longer legs. I find being familiar with my shape to be the first step in dressing the best I can. That being said there are a few bits that make this dress a wrong fit for me.
❌The waist of the dress sits too high, it would suit someone with a shorter torso
❌Because of the higher waist the cups sit too high on my bust
❌There is too much material in the skirt which gathers at the waist and adds unneeded volume
❌I also feel like the skirt is a little too short for my height
❌I think the pattern is too busy
❌The back of the dress is open and I would need to wear no bra or tape my boobs which I’m only willing to do for an occasion dress, not something I would wear on the daily
As opposed to my favourite tea dress from @missguided
✅Less fussy pattern
✅Tie to pull in the waist
✅Better Length
✅Less material in the skirt
