I think the apartment but it needs wall treatments like grasscloth, wallpaper, paint, fabric on the walls, etc to add depth to the space.

nope. the point of the skim coating is to make the wall look "flawless" and w/o the need for the extra embellishment.

I get his esthetic, but to be honest, it is boring and underwhelming. Turn the volume up just a little bit more, and tone down the patterns. There's a lack of cohesiveness. Thank you.
