Nice, taking a soldering flux material and turning it into an energetic substance. Pretty fun to nitrate random stuff to find out if you get something interesting 🤔
Thank you for making this video, I really appreciate the time you have invested in making it. speaking of time, what was the total time of the synthesis? I will be making this for the EPS5 mixture, I am curious to know how much of the day to set aside for making it. Now I need to find a cheap source of resorcinol and I'm all set.
Вадим Туров yes it is but you would have to adjust the process. You would likely get much more oxidation and a less pure product. This is an optimised procedure.
Shona O'Neill making lead styphnate specifically. A primary ingredient in most bullet primers. I have made a couple of other metal styphnates but they weren’t as energetic or interesting.
AllChemystery Thank you for your answer, most appreciated. Firearms are not a big thing in the UK, as such neither are primers. However, the synthesis was very interesting. I am a big fan of you channel. Keep up the awesome work. If you do requests....I would be interested in seeing some of the more sensitive heavily laiden nitrogen compounds. I like to watch the synthesis of the compounds, I would be too afraid to make them myself, a little to clumsy I'm afraid 😕 I would definitely end up with a finger or 8 missing lol.
Dwi K not advisable due to destructive Oxidation potential of RFNA... But there’s a simple solution! Just clean the NO2 out of the acid by bubbling DRY Air thru the RFNA at about Room temp (25-35c) over a couple of hours. If required you can add Small amount of Urea to speed up the process but I mean small! 10-20 mg at a time with time between additional urea doses.... I have a video up on my channel that shows this very process.
