This is by far the best video of the SU-35 that I have seen so far. Great close up shots. I like to hear the sound of the jet, instead of silly music like in so many similar vidoes .
sorry to be off topic but does someone know of a tool to get back into an Instagram account?? I stupidly lost the account password. I would love any assistance you can offer me!
The fact that the Russians subject their fighters to such stress structurally during these flights obviously is a testament to their agility in design. I could watch these fly a million times and love it every time.
First of all I am not a kid and I was in war with your country and I for a fact know that some of our pilots in a broken Mig-29 without any situacional awareness avoided couple of AIM-120 just on a count of seeing a smoke trail of the missile, before they were hit by another one. This is a reality combined with what I am talking about in mathematical equation. And for the second time, have a nice day engineer!
Those little wings are called canards. They provide additional lift thus increase maneuverability. But they also increase RCS (Radar Cross Section) so the jet is easier to be detected. So now there's only some variants that have canards, namely Su-30MKI/MKM,Su-33,Su-34 and Su-37 tech demonstrator.
At that point F-15 doesn`t have enough energy for spatial change of position and without good nose pointing ability he`s toasted. The thing is, TVC gives a fighter great flexibility and from a god one it makes a better one. And for sure, pilot is a determining factor in every fight so we`ll just have to wait and see the fight between SU and EF to give the final word. Cheers mate!
And I am not saying SU is better in every area than EF, but in ones I listed it has advantages. And I listed some of the performance where SU is better just to show you that EF is not superior in every segment. That was very bold statement on your behalf!
What a masterpiece! The pilot must be top notch as well....We could use some of these in Greece....then again in the current climate we couldn't even afford a bi-plane :( Maybe our Russian friends are willing to provide a couple of these for free...:)
I do miss the words to explain what it's all about, but I think that everybody who does know something about the theory of flying in general, aerodynamics, and to be qualified to fly with this jet fighter must agree that this flying comes very close to how birds fly. Sukhoi, just like Mikoyan and Gurevich, can design top military fighters. A Moroccan Sukhoi-fan.
In order to do such maneuvers you need to stall the plane. There are two ways to do that. Either you are going to slow or you are exceeding the critical AOA at given speed. In both case you are not going to do that at 9G turn because your G limiter also limits your AOA to prevent overstres. At 9G turn you can`t exceed your critical AOA in order to stall the plane. But you can do 9G turn, cut the power and as your speed drops you progressively increase your AOA until you exceed critical values.
cont. Assuming he survived the search-sort-shoot regime and a merge is inevitable, mutual support is what makes such maneuvering so dangerous to the high AOA guy. He might be able to temporarily stiff-arm one fighter, but not the others that will invariably be in the neighborhood. Lead: "Engaged neutral with a guy doing a cobra." Two: "Tally ho, Pitch right." 8 seconds later... Two: "Fox two kill the guy fluttering about at 15,000 feet. Lead: "Bug out East, push it up." Two: "Toop."
Canards also help in controlling air current over the wing and give better controllability at high AOA. SU-35S doesn`t need canards because of lighter electronics and airframe, because of more sophisticated FCS and because it has TVC. PAK FA on a contrary has something that reminds of a canards and it is called LEVCON.
If you watch interviews with the designers... they very clearly explain that the canards were redundant and did nothing for maneuverability. They were an experiment which proved that the canards did not contribute anything except additional complexity, so they were removed.
I agree that EF is the most dangerous opponent in WVR fight SU-35S can face, but be assured that SU is one of the best dog fighters out there. EF was made with attention to be better than SU-27, but SU-35 is totally different animal. Its "balance point" is recalibrated and in combination with new KSU-35 integrated digital control system with all three channels that are electrically signaled and controlled without mechanical cabling enhances the fighter's handling capability and maneuverability
@FXWorldBeater You are likely looking at the file says "САМОЛЕТ СУ-27СК" on the first page. Also from the same "source" you obtained them, you should have a second file with loads of performance comparison with F-15, F-16 and Tornado F-2. Note that these G datas are lateral Gs not overall.
Moreover, all the control surfaces of the aircraft were perfected and reduced in relation to the SU-27. The Su-35BM also reduced the area of empennage of the aircraft, better that the original Su-27. In other words all that enhances lift to drag ratio! Thrust to weight ratio is much better with 4 tones of extra thrust giving it better acceleration, climb rate, smaller loss of thrust at height and much greater SEP for better DPS at sustained turns with much less energy bleed.
SU-27SK: Max speed at tropopause 2,35M Range with rockets 2xR-27R1, 2xR-73E launched at half distance 3530km (su-35S has 2 more tons of fuel) SU-35S: Maximum ordnance 8000kg Radar range +400km for 3m2 RCS target. Unlike the EF, SU-35S doesn`t have AOA limits and because of that his Instantaneous turn rates are higher and turn radius is smaller with much better nose pointing. If you look at the video you will see what I`m talking about.
The agility of the Flanker family at very low speeds and very high angle of attack, especially speaking of the advanced versions of this aircraft, is surely impressive, mainly thanks to the TsAGI aerodynamic researches and their analysis of the US F-14 and F-15 configurations. But in a real dogfight these are largely useless features, unless you want use a Super Flanker to intercept a Fokker Dr.1 triplane.
Why would they learn and perform all these maneuvers if they are useles? And if dogfighting is thing of past, why do Americans also perform tvc maneuvers with F-22?
@@flanker8724 F-22 was developed with Cold War requirements in mind. That said, close dogfights are not necessarily things of the past, but they happens generally at speeds and altitudes in which those maneuvers are not feasible. In the end, with a Cobra you obtain the sole result of bleeding all your energy, making your aircraft a perfect target.
@@flanker8724 There's no doubt about that, man! At low speeds. At higher speeds, the Flanker advantage over the Western counterparts is less striking, as far as I know.
@@andreabindolini7452 I know that Royal Malaysian air force Su-30MKM pilots were very confident that their Flanker is better in close combat against an USAF F-22 and F-15 and USN F/A-18, btw I was able to talk to them and their experince with Su-30 and fighting against all these US jets... they were saying to me that Su-30 is better in horizontal fight, while F-22 has the edge in thrust to weight ratio... one of those pilots was actually a former F-18D pilot that RMAF operates, and he said that the Russian jets are simply better, not just in terms of dogfighting, but also weaponry etc. Others were ex MiG-29 pilots, so they were really expirienced and profesional.
@AndraxxusNephilem "F-22 carries 8200 kg fuel, it has hi-hi combat radius of 1459 km" Would be an interesting comparison to see the differences in range if the two were travelling at m1.8, the F-22 on Mil and the Su on afterburner to maintain the speed. Then again with an 8 missile load.
There isn't a need for it. If a F-22 finds itself in a dog fight with a SU-30MKI, SU-35, etc... The F-22 is wrong and the pilot really messed up. Su-27's, 30's, 34's, 35's and Migs are beautiful / capable aircraft. It's a damn shame we can't be brothers in arms..
SU-35 can withstand max. G force with about 60% of fuel, but the problem is not in the weight, it`s about shifting center of gravity with full fuel load, because additional reservoirs are placed behind the canopy in front of the center of lift . And by the way, 60% of fuel in SU-35 is about 7000kg which is 86% of fuel F-22 can carry, and SU-35 is lighter plane than F-22. You do the math ;)
@tht1drnkrussian "but the su-35 has some design improvements and it doesnt need canards" No, it was a compromise. They went for lower radar signature over less maneuverability.
Wrong answer my friend! In order to stay on the path of the plane doing 10G`s at 0,7M, AIM-120 needs to pull almost 250G`s going Mach 4. And we all know that such missile doesn`t exits! So, if the pilot is aware of the rocket (modern MAWS are used for it ;) ) he can easily avoid the missile if the 10G turn is done properly at the right moment. But any way it was nice talking to you. All the best!
USAF considers that air to air engaments are and will be 4 BVR out of 5...So,what is the reason to build such agile close combat fighters since they will not able to come close to show these fancy things..
What type of equipment? Camera Or dedicated video we are thinking? Please let us know on our channel Look up "vampire cat warmup video " to see something cool Wondering what a panasonic fz200 2.8 would look like at 120fps HD SLO MO CAN BE BORING IF TOO LONG, especially with no music
@tht1drnkrussian All fighters but the flanker it would seem. Every time it has done a sustained high G turn in a display, it needs to bail out of the turn early due to excessive drag.
@FXWorldBeater show me proof that its flying at 100mph, at EXACTLY 5:36, the sonic boom cloud thingy apears...and the sound barrier, is not 100mph;) and even if it was flying at 100mph, im pretty sure it wont be even flying level and doing all those spins...
@FXWorldBeater So does Su-27, basically its high speed high altitude interceptor, thats why its tailled delta not a conventional wing design. But admit it, tailslides and other useless tricks look a lot more attractive for the crowd. Can you send the F-22 video again i think you made a copy-paste error.
It amazes me how the pilot can just toss that plane around and the plane responds so gracefully. We have nothing that even comes close. Russia can stand proud.
INCREDIBLE MACHINE WITH RUSSIAN ENGINEERING AT ITS BEST!BRILLIANT PHOTOGRAPHY! AS I WATCHED SU-30 & SU-30 MKI PERFORMING IN INDIA AND AS AN INDIAN I AM IMMENSELY PROUD TO HAVE RUSSIA AS OUR BEST AND ONLY FRIEND FOREVER!
Mr. Khmelik, thank you for this brilliant video ! You seem to be a very experienced camera-man - I have only rarely seen others keeping the planes tracked in a clear focus. Flying this beautiful plane must be like dancing on clouds or maybe even like having SEX WITH AIR...;-) For the pilots thrust-vector-steering must feel as if a crippled man suddenly could walk on his own feet again - without ever knowing he had been crippled at all...! Thrust-Vector-Control is a revelation in flight !
Mike Hunter mike I am not a hater neither American or Russian but why can’t Americans just take a step back and admire beauty and precision without trying to always compare and argue that Americans deserve all credit and no credit should go anywhere else. Just admire and enjoy!
