Thank you. Very instructive and useful video. I wonder if you might make video in the future which outlines the various enhancements available for a standard 998 mini engine? I'm looking at affordable ways to increase the performance of my mini without having to do major work to the engine.

Well, the 998 isn't a great starting point for performance enhancements unless major rebuilding is undertaken. You could rebuild the block with our +.080" pistons and rebuild your head with larger valves but that's a sizable investment that still wouldn't get you where a stock 1275cc engine would be in terms of power. However, we're currently working on a test case 998 A+ block right now that will be featured in a new video in the coming months. We're hoping to get 1275 performance from that block - we'll post it once we get everything together and see what the dyne says. So, stay tuned!

Great information. Unfortunately, I have no ID tags on my 1947 Bentley Mark VI. Are there any other stampings that can identify the carbs? I found a stamping on the throat that says 4031 is this any help I can't find any answers on Google.n TIA

@11:37 of the video you talk about an old “H” carburetor. It’s hard to make out what you are saying as you were moving the carb and it was clanging against the metal table. Can you give me more details about that carb please? I have a 1954 Morris minor and it’s missing the carb and air cleaner which I’m looking to get. Thank you for the video and the info.

He was just mentioning that the early SU H carbs look like that. They have the single bolt through the float bowl lid and the lever at the bottom. I believe that's an H2 carb - earlier than the later HS carbs.

Yes, that would be a good choice for a 998cc.
