A-iPower Corporation no, I'm sorry to say the battery has been on a 2.5a charger for 2 days now. It will not charge up.

No charge yet, but noticed a clear gel-type liquid under the battery. I took the battery out and it has a crack in the case.

Hello! First - thank you for buying one of our portable generators. Second - to answer your question - yes, assuming you have the 459cc engine, it requires a full quart. Your unit included its first quart of oil so just empty entire contents which sounds like you did. Keep oil level above the "L" as you've done and in the cross hatch area and you will be fine. Also know that your unit does have a low-oil shut down to protect itself from running low on oil. Cheers! Joe - A-iPower Milwaukee

Good Morning Harry D., It is conventional SAE 10W-30. We do have customers that opt for semi-or full synthetic but it is not needed if your oil is changed as recommended in manual. No need for the additional cost IMO. Your manual states, "Change oil after first 5 hours of use then every 50 hours after that. If used under dirty or dusty conditions or extremely hoy weather - change more often." I will also add that oil does have a "shelf life" and while not always needed - I still change the oil in my small engines once a year at a min. Cheap insurance! Enjoy your new unit. @@a-ipowercorporation1454 i brought this generator last week. I only have 53 hrs run time on it. Part if that is trying to run the full tank of gas out. It stops and wont stay running. We were without power 7 days after the hurricane and I spent over $993 for this only to not work. Please assist. What do i do? Lowes wouldn't give a warranty or accept return if its opened. Ridiculous.

Hello Mille, Either way, I did want to get the muffler pipe dimension to you with warnings.... You muffler OD (outer dimension) on exhaust pipe is @ 1.35 inches However, we must warn all users that all gen sets must be used outdoors at least 10' away from any doors/windows/vents. NEVER run a generator in an enclosed area like a garage and then pipe / divert / run exhaust through flex pipe to outdoors. Yes - you are correct. To get full power from your unit and/or any unit with 120/240 outlet such as your new SUA12000E - you will need a 240 to 120 RV adapter and/or a 240 to two 120 pigtail adapter wire. Good Morning Brandon, While I'd like to give you a firm yes or no - I can't. Many / most parks and RV parks have their own set/s of "guidelines" and restrictions for portable generator usage. The only thing I may suggest is referring to the individual park you plan on visiting and finding out what their policy is. For example, this info was taken from: www.nps.gov/grsm/planyourvisit/campregs.htm "Quiet Hours and Generators Quiet hours are in effect from 10 pm to 6 am. Generator use is prohibited from 8 pm to 8 am. Generator use and battery charging by engine idling is prohibited in generator free areas. During quiet hours, noise-producing equipment should be turned off and entry to the campground is limited to registered campers." Please be aware that we have assumed your SUA12000E could be used in parks and have installed a US Forestry approved spark arrestor. User still, however, must abide by park rules. Also - know there are oftentimes less restrictions on "best technology" gen sets such as our SUA2000i, SC2000i, SUA2300i smaller suitcase sized inverter generators. Good Afternoon Rene, Thank you for considering our SUA12000E. To answer your questions - please consider this info. Out of the gate - you'd need a lot more than generator to run 5, 12000 BTU units at same time + a fridge and a pump if it kicks on. 1. There are two things to know about starting electrical items such as a/c units, refrigerators, etc. that have electric motors - all need an extra burst of power to start the motor turning called starting watts then the demand decreases to what is called running watts. Each electrical device is slightly different so it is difficult for me to say yes or no to your question. Depending on your A/C unit - you may expect power consumption of: 3500-4000 watts of power to start it and about 3500-4000 watts as it runs. Our SUA12000E has starting power of 12,000 and 9,000 as it runs. This 1 A/C unit consumes over 1/3 of the power of the running watts on its own (this would be the same for any other make in similar output range - not just our unit). Then to add 1.5hp pump - which has starting watts of 2,000 and running around 1,600 and a refrigerator to these two items and you will be maxing out your running watts on these three items. 2. Run times - just like a car, the heavier you hit the gas peddle - the worse your mileage is. Same with a generator - the more demand you have, the more gas it consumes. In our industry - consumers like to know how long the gen set will run based off of watts. So, if you fill up the gas tank on our SUA12000E (7 gallons) and run items totaling 4500 watts or so - your unit will run for 9 hours before it runs out of gas. Good Morning Clint, Good question - our SUA12000E generator has what is known in the industry as "standard" THD (total harmonic distortion) which is common for most open frame portable generators. This equates to roughly the same level of THD as most utilities. If your PA system is not using laptop / iPad or other sensitive electronics - this gen set could be used. If, however, your PA system feeds through a laptop and does not require as much output as our SUA12000E, I'd recommend a lower THD unit such as our SUA2300i which is 5% or less. Hello Clint, Certainly your call. Yes - most open frame portable generators could cause interference with events going on around the gen set while it is running. I would suggest moving behind a stationary item close by to drown out some of its engine noise and/or place somewhere where its sound maybe absorbed by the environment. Conversely, placing on concrete slab or near brick walls may amplify sounds as they bounce between solid structures. Also consider "redirecting" muffler exhaust side away from where your PA system will be functioning and never run a gen set near open windows and doors due to carbon monoxide. Hello Dunno, Firman makes a very good generator. I like their designs and the quality - at least visually - appears to be top notch and on par with ours. Hello Xno, OK - Understood. Yes - you are correct - must have unit far away from all windows and vents due to CO. Ironically - we do have a fuel injected unit along with CO sensor that will shut off unit if detected at unsafe levels coming out in second half of this year but still too soon to place orders. Also - regarding the enclosure - we do not recommend any particular enclosure. Many do offer such items but due to how they are used, size, etc. - all can affect how gen set performs due to heat build up, placement, etc. Sorry - not able to help on this one. Hello Northern Boy, This unit has a standard THD of 10-12% which is normal for most portable gen sets in this segment. For comparison - know your standard home outlet has a THD around 7%. If you are looking for low THD output - we offer three inverters that offer 3% or less; SUA2000i, SC2000i, SUA2300i. Hello JM, No - this is not a Honda engine. It is, however, our own engine. Unlike many of our competitors (Honeywell, Westinghouse, many of Generac's GP line, etc) source their engines from outside companies. A-iPower owns and builds its engines internally - we control the source of the manufacturing. This is why cost per watt is lower and content higher with our products - even compared with the generics.
