Heh heh, like a shotgun! Just goes to show Sub 12 is still the pellet's domain - why change? Good pellet in a good gun - accurate, cheap, deadly... And goes to show just how accurate that HW100 is - on that day, on that bench, with those pellets it was better than the AA! So the general conclusion, save your money and stay with the tried and true! Nice comparison Gert and always a great sense of humour. Any Sub 12 content gratefully received.
The one thing this says to me and to a lot of other sub12 shooters, is JSB pellets RULE! 👍👏👏👏 and who needs a HP slug, when a spherical head, small waist and conical skirt kills like lightning anyway? Good review though Gert. Thanks for saving a lot of us a lot of money and frustration. 😅👍🍻🍻
Love watching these tests. Bit of a test nerd myself. Have to agree about the single load / magazine. No diiference whatsoever with my FX wildcat .22/ .25, FAC (both tested with 6 different barrels) A 30 yr old Webley Axsor .22, and a new Gamo Swarm .177. Groups from EVERY one using a total of 52 different pellets/slugs show no differences measured to the nearest .5 mm. P.S. I won our club comp x2 using magazine fed .22 sub 12 wildcat 50m class.
I think it's all about the barrel when shooting slugs. Pellets need a choked barrel to perform best. For slugs, a none choked barrel is best. Your two rifles in use were shooting extremely well with pellets so they are obviously choked. You need to try this experiment with none choked barrels.
I tried all sorts of slugs at 12 ft/lbs the best were zan 10 in my daystate pulsar the zan 13 were next but at 50m at least 150mm point of impact change to the right not too much drop difference and hit harder than pellets
Enjoyed your video as always, even though it was a struggle :) On topic of slugs in sub12 i highly recommend you watch this video ""EXPLOSIVE" SUB 12FT/LB SLUG TEST - 3 DIFFERENT RIFLES - MANY DIFFERENT SLUGS" which busts a lot of myths and proves slugs can shoot highly accurate in sub12 even at 100m. Blew my mind.
Hiya bud I'm in the UK and the slugs I'd seen doing well were the Mako slugs and I think it's Pression Ballistics I mentioned them to you a good while ago maybe a year, I don't know if you have tried them or not but everyone I saw that tried them spoke very highly of them
IMO sub 12 guns should stay with what works…pellets especially in .177. The gun is already limited so badly in that caliber that anything past 40 yards hunting wise to me is unethical really. Not saying that it can’t be done but I wouldn’t do it. Pellets have been working forever so if it isn’t broke no need to fix it. If you want to shoot farther than that with a .177 hunting then it’s time to get an FAC and even a bigger caliber too. Happy holidays Gert.
TBH, I've had much better groups than those in both 10gr and 13gr. Not sure I've tested them in the Weihrauch barrel? In my Brocock they've been pretty good even out to 50m in sub 12 ft Ibs
Hello Gert, with my Fx Dreamline I got a little better results with Jsb slugs (between 800-850 fps) which are still unacceptable,I hope mkII versions will give better results but still are unavailable in my country, how about SA?Greetings from Istanbul.
Oh and no you cant pump up your gun for slugs, if you do that and the police check your gun with their pellets and it's 13 fpe or something, you're off to the nick!
@@fatherdaughterandsonfishing slugs are better suited for fac .above 80 ftp .but thats not a rule i got a 30 dreamline tuned Thats going at 135 joule (150 joule max)and pellets doeing well
@@AimSmall I agree if you can get them to shoot accurately and hit what you are aiming at. Slugs need speed and hefty slugs vs sub12 and speed is an oxymoron. Anyway, just my opinion.
Please keep me posted, I had very little success due to the additional friction in the barrel, the sub 12fpe doesn't like slugs, they came out the barrel ar 620fps max.
They need a bigger slug of air behind them in choked barrels , they definitely need to be faster tho - try getting them 13 gr zans to fly around 640 fps ( the fps i found to get my best grouping )
