You’ve got a Haile Gebrselassie arm swing! Right arm swings freely, left arm is more fixed. Haile got it from carrying books in his left arm whilst running to school. What’s your story?! 😂
Went for my long run this morning and this video I watched last night saved my bacon ! It was a horrible sufferfest of a hot sweaty disgusting run but you touched it out so so did I ❤❤❤❤❤
Great video! I'm doing Berlin too with my brother in law. Will be relaxed, tourist run for us. Best wishes from another Welshman (but I live in France).
Yessss! If I remember rightly the conditions today were much tougher because of the heat and yet you smashed it. Loved the analogy you used about going to work, no half days. Well done Matt. Great work 🎉
I confess I am chuckling a bit hearing you say all the right things about not going out hot, etc after having ready your Insta summary about doing just that. Running is nothing if not learning.
Watching your 5 week journey to Berlin carefully. I’m finishing up my 5000 season at the European Masters later this month then I launch into marathon training over an 8 week period.
Hi Matt, I love your channel (you're my favourite running RU-vidr of them all 😎)! I'd love to a video where you talk about your finishing kick. I have literally never seen anyone close the last 800 meters of a race the way you consistently do, even in a bad race. The video at the end here, where those women seem to be fearing for their lives is just one example. 😂 I'm super curious both about the details of your mental approach to digging there, but also about aspects of your training that help you maintain that leg speed, even if you're in a marathon block for example. Your kick is clearly way bigger than all these guys finishing with you - how do you do it, mentally and physically? Thanks again for the great, honest, lovely content!
No matter how many of my favourite running youtubers they sponsor, if Soar wants me to wear their products they'll have to price more reasonably. I would classify their current pricing as "beyond insane".
I’m not here to sell Soar to you or anyone else. I think it’s great that they’ve supported this series. You don’t have to buy anything but I appreciate you watching the videos and your support, thank you. I also think it’s the most premium kit I’ve worn. Everyone’s budget is different. I wear the same kit over and over because it feels so light and I feel good in it. I’m still racing in my first Soar singlet from over 2 years ago and train in it all the time too. With the discount you can get a Soar singlet for £63.75. Compared to some other companies top end singlets you have Nike £72.95. UA £62. ON Running £85. You can get cheaper singlets too but I really think the quality of Soar’s is great and makes me feel good wearing them. As I say, there is no pressure to buy anything. I love the kit and they are supporting the videos.
I don't really understand 15% affiliate links for a product so outrageously above budget.. silly business strategy.. actually thought it was a lower budget product from their designs (absolutely terrible).. near fell off my chair when I saw the price
Way to gut through it Matt. I am seeing some interesting stories on the Ketone supplements, in that they may not be all that they are cracked up to be, including worsening performance rather than help it. I am curious as to what your experience has been with it. Love the training series and keep at it Matt!
Oh my god when it cut to the still at the end of a smiling photo with white text on black background my initial reaction was that you'd passed away! I wouldn't blame you after that session!
Odd question, but do you intentionally not allow Kelly to block the wind for you so as to train for any conditions? Or is it simply so she can get the best footage
Yeah there’s not much point in her blocking the wind for me. All it would help is my ego because I’d be able to go a little faster. If conditions are really poor or I need a boost in confidence then I sometimes ask her to hit the front for a bit but I can only think of one time recently that she’s done that. In the marathon I’m almost certain to end up running some of it on my own so practicing the sessions without drafting is important. Being able to push despite wind and air resistance is something to practice. I don’t want race day to feel harder than training if that makes sense. I don’t think about the footage. I’m lucky that Kelly is really good at getting good video and I can just focus on the session.
