I was 12. Other actors were Kumar Bhatia and the one who played Appu is no more. Don't recollect his name but he has played roles in some films, I think in late 90s or early 2000s
It was pulled of for some odd reason(1986-1987)and it came back as Inkaar(Nov 1991) several years later with a befitting and fantastic climax. It really heralded the Golden Era of Door darshan. I still cannot get over it. Wish someone would upload both of them on RU-vid. It would be a dream come true for a lot of people including me.
What a song ..Rd supervoice .we use to eagarly wait for this serial for this song and storyline of this serial...kya din the woh so fascinating and natural
Has anyone found the VHS for this serial - it will be a public service to find it, and anyone of us will be willing to help convert it and upload it. Definitely the best ever and most defining moment of television history
I was 6 years old and I remember the actors, Kumar Bhatia, Saleem Ghouse, Asthana...(Can't recall, the south Indian guy)...what a serial. If you remember the opening visual.. it used to be in negative (X Ray type) and guy removing his glasses, Kumar Bhatia listening to music in a walkman...vague memory...
Ikr?! I was a teen then. I can barely remember the new songs or jingles that I heard yesterday. But this one seems to stick with me forever. Powerful musicians back then.
Even today listening this title track once in a day to relive those days of my teens. The magical voice and mesmerizing music of 1987 piercing heart and soul. Sheer nostalgia....!!!!
I was 11 or 12 yo when this serial was telecasted. Now am in my 40's and I remembered the entire song with the music...How is that even possible...loRD of music Pancham!!
@viveknagpaul You are truly amazing. I remembered the name of actor ' Jitender Sodhi' but forgot what his name was in the serial He was referred to as the 'Saviour of Subah' as he goes about setting everything allright in the serial. I was so impressed by his performance. Apparently, it was his efforts along with the director Bharat Rangachari that the serial was re-telecast as Inkar several years later. Effectively, he was the hero of the Serial(Both Subah and Later Inkar) as he rescues his friends and helps in proving their innocence. Amazing performance by him. Is he stll active ? Lovely Memories. Those were the days. !!!💥 Such pure unadulterated entertainment. RIP RD and BR.
If I recall this serial was pulled because of a huge outcry as it glamourized drug use. In my view, it played a big role in showing the effects of drug use, how good students ruined their life and turned many people off drugs forever
So nostalgic, should have valued those precious moments with family and friends..it seems like another lifetime..this is what I call an excellent and meaningful drama series which sends you back in time..
plz upload more information about subah serial .and upload more videos about subah serial name the plz starcast of subah serial plz plz reply to my comment .my chilhood serial.
To listen to the music of this serial I used to wait every Wednesday at 9pm before doordarshan.Superb music by puncham da probably it was the first time that he gave music in a T.V serial.I was only 11 years old at that time .Thanks for refreshing the old memories back.
God bless the person who has uploaded this song here as it has eneded my relentless search of this masterpiece today by my all time favourite Music Director Panchamda. Panchamda was genius and born talent. He would live in our hearts and will live forever. May his soul rest in peace. We sorely miss his music and Oh God what a pain we have to endure due to his untimely death.
I WAS IN 11TH STD AND EAGERLY WAITING THIS SERIAL WAS FOR COLLEGE STUDENTS AND SPECIALLY WHEN DRUGS ENTERED INTO INDIA AND DRUGS STORY WAS NEW.... CHEERS FOR THIS GREAT MAKER OF SERIAL. REMEMBERING OLD DAYS....
I was in standard VIII and was hooked onto this serial....... failed my chemistry exam on a wednesday when the serial used to be telecast if I remember correctly........ watched the episode and then revealed to dad about exam result.............
This is arguably the most memorable TV serial soundtrack. The song along with the visual has created a lasting impression in my head. The word nostalgia doesn't seem adequate to describe-whoever uploaded this-you are a legend!!!! Btw it didn't "glamourise" drug use but made us aware of the perils of drug use. I was only a baccha then but even i knew that it was a glamourised awareness campaign.
We were in VRCE II year in 1986.Used to wait eagerly for wednesday for the episode of this serial. I think the episode used to start at 8.10 pm. And in hostel there was large crowd in front of TV.The serial with its title track really Jabardast. RD `voice great. Totally nostalgic.
Hello sir...I'm also VRCE alumni..1996 batch...yes I also used to see the serial Subah...its reminds my school days...the title song is amazing & its unforgettable....I really miss DD era...it is all memorable moments....thnx for uploading the song....& if anyone has the video of it...I request to upload it...

salim ghouse was brilliant in this serial. i was sixteen at that time...smart, entertaining...it had all the elements to hook in viewers....and a fantastic title track.....
I reminisce this serial after 35 yrs, it was sheer pleasure to watch it those days especially the one character whose name I came to know today... It's the deadly Salim Ghouse
I got goosebumps today after listening to the title track.....i used to study in class 9 wen this was aired abd after about 10 episodes my mom never allowed me to watch it anymore.......i remember how depressed i used to be for first few months after this.....
I was around 8 years of age and loved this Searial and it's title track and use to sang it. This serial was based on drugs problem and all the young actors became very popular in every household especially Salim Ghouse. I don't know why but we waited for the second season as the first one was incomplete. Still miss those days.
wooooooooooow!!! its sooooooooooooooo nostalgic to get back this song....i was trying to search all over the net. i was crazy abt this song too. the serial had great impact on me. i was just 15 yrs then...thanks to you winwinss!!!
I was 15 tht time. I use to wait for Wednesday to watch n hear ,specifically, this title track. Serial was very well conducted n nice. However there was outcry n oppose to this serial by some parential viewers n was wraped up abrupty due to pressure. But the story n serial was too good though the subject was serious. Actually it was an eye opener for youngsters n caution ring for parents.
damn man..i almost forgot this song..what a serial this was..anyone know if i can download it somewhere on the net..three serials i m looking for..Subah, Chunauti and Kille Ka rahsya
I use to wait eagerly for this serial. I was in 9th class. What times! Loved Salim ghouse. Such a heavenly voice. Still remember the scene of his first day in college when seniors while raggig him tell him to bring cigretts from outside and he comes back gives the cigarette and also returns the money. Loved that Era.
This was a great serial. If telecast in Punjab so e years back it will solve the drug problem. After seeing this serial nobody will venture into the world of drugs. In my view in portraying the menace this was better than Chunauti also
My God..... I thought this song no longer existed in this world........ this was the pioneer serial for young generation taht time.... nobody will recognize it that way, but in true sense this serial was a pioneer. It took the whole nation by storm from the very episode, and it wasnt given extension after 13 episode.... I belive later thay made some parts...
A very powerful and very well acted serial of its time...with ofcourse Rd's music. The reason I came here finding Subah...Yest in newspapers I read (again!!!) that kids are getting addicted to drugs left right n center and one of the reasons stated was, which shocked me, this kid started trying out drugs after watching US TV series called Breaking Bad. If this was the case, I or other kids would have been addicted to drugs after watching Subah, such was its theme, acting and presentation.... but NO such thing happened....I remember even at that age, I wanted Subah's two main leads to quit drugs, fight against it and its sources.
I was 10 years old when I heard this song...i didnt know the genius.of rd burman tjat time.but still I lived this song and after almost 20 years started searching for this song on youtube..that time I.came to know it was sung by rd burman..just shows the.class this.person had...i ldidnt like this song because it was made by my favourite but this song was made by my favourite..which I came to know almost after 20 years..these.are.two.different things
feeling extremely nostalgic..I was only 9 years old when this serial was aired. Still remember Salim Ghouse for his wonderful acting and rugged looks. Please someone upload the episodes. I want to relive those days.I have been searching for the episodes but never got any link. path breaking, beautiful serial. Missing those days. Please someone upload.
this serial got me back to my teenage life when i use to watch the serial & think about my collage life.....thanks for such beautiful track by my favorite rd burman(the boss)....god bless you.
Salim Ghouse was one of the protagonists in this serial who becomes a drug addict. The other role of the good guy who gets into drugs, but manages to come out of the habit was played by a very good looking Punjabi actor who later tried his hand at films also. Can't remember his name though. But this serial was hugely popular in those times. Thanks for uploading the song though.
I was 11 year old those days and grew up watching this serial and absolutely loved the title song. Even if i had exam the next day, I never used to miss this serial nor the title song. Later when i grew up I came to know that this composed by none other than the masestro R.D. Burman ji...If i remember, Bharat(Salim Ghosh) and Prem(Kumar Bhatia) are the two who played the lead roles. Story of how drugs can ruin studies and careers.
mujhe qchchi trh yaad h jb hm bhne is siriyal r song ki diwani hua krti thin...bht khobsorat din hua krte the wo.. r.d brmqn jaisa koi paida nahi hua r na hoga...
shaista riyaz do u remember an even older dd seriel that featured a doctor and there was this old lady also. I was very small but fragments of that seriel are still with me and I am always try to find it.
I rarely can think of times I'd praise Indian TV or Bollywood (until I left in 1990 at least) but this was a great show if people remember it. It was about drug use and how people get sucked in and it was really powerful I felt. It was IMO the first Indian TV show that really was "daring".
What a Beautiful Song! I was in high school when this serial was being broadcasted. Sweet Memories! I was missing this song very much. Thank You, Mr Lakshman, for uploading it. A treasure for us!
Thanks a million for uploading the track. For many years I've been searching for it.The first episode or so where the first year guy does not heed to the seniors ragging and his mannerism left a ever lasting impression on me. After many many years now,if I still like and remember this track and the episode, means I'm haunted by the nostalgia of the yester-years.
