Isaac, mentioned it to Duncan Graham and he's up for a colab video. Trust me, you need him to map it if you don't want problems. He knows that engine inside out.
Stance is not the same as road handling. Proper lowering is not done with shorter springs/coilovers but with spindles that can be mounted higher up on the car. That way you keep the geometry of the suspension and you don't mess up your roll center and steering angles. I would first invest in better tires (they are what ultimately determine your grip) and mostly, driver education. You can't take your fancy bits to your next car, but you can take your driving skills. If you want to improve "stance" and road handling, ask track drivers that know their suspension what mods to make on your car, making sure it remains "easy" to handle under all circumstances. Hedges don't give much and you wouldn't be the first young enthusiast driver that modded their car only to immediately have it violently get away from them on a national speed limit road because they messed up the balance of their car. I didn't mention brakes because you hardly need better brakes on modern cars unless you track them. If you need a brake upgrade on the street, you usually need to learn how to drive and brake better. Until then, slow it down a bit and keep everyone on the road safe.
That low slung Legacy looks class. MUCH better than an Impreza, which just has that 'chavvy' undertone. Looks like something an Impreza owner would move to once they grew up.
I like estate cars, well, some. BMW and Audi estates look good as does the Legacy. I first lusted after a Legacy quad cam turbo, when they first appeared in the UK. The dealer local to me was an agricultural machinery. That's often where you had to get them back then. The model pictured on Issac's laptop looks so good. Wishing you all the best with your Legacy, Issac's. 😊
Well done Issac, hope the channel and engine refurb works out for you, I think it will. I'm hoping you will Interact Occasionally and read comments on your channel. There are some very knowledgeable people within the RU-vid community who just want to assist and help. I've found they can be such an asset if you give them something as simple as a response. I've been put in touch with some very intelligent and experienced people from RU-vid. Lee has built up a community of hate because he ignores everyone, he has hundreds of people telling him the same thing like wear safety glasses and the next video he's not wearing any. You might as well just stick two fingers up at your audience, it's the same thing. I hope you don't go down this route, it can't be a nice place to be. Best of luck
No cam timing, port injection, no higher compression than 10:1 for low powered engines (10 is really pushing it, 9:1 is a lot more common), 8-8.5:1 for higher powered engines. It goes up with variable exhaust cam timing, variable lift and such (variable intake cam timing is more for emissions instead of EGR on turbos, it helps more for power on NA multi valve engines). 10.5:1 and up you usually only see on direct injected turbo engines.
Don’t mess about modding the Legacy with cheap silly stuff until it’s run in and you’re familiar and happy with it…. that’s my opinion ! Appreciate what you have before you ‘improve’ it… low down estate makes no sense to me personally….
Have a chat with Olly and Aron at RCM. Bet you could get some great help. they told me to replace with the pink (550cc) injector on their build. ej20 stroker. Such a great car dude. I love the look of the legacy over the Impreza. lift kit and full rally mode would look so good rather than slamming it. and drive so nice!!! and big jumps lol
I have decided for you. rally mods! you guys have two track cars and a Lambo. now you need a daily driven rally car. With a Subaru, you can compete in FWD, RWD, AWD, NA or Turbo without mucking around too much and drive home.
OOooooo selling your own self built motor ? Under the Barum name ?? with the same Barum warranty's ?? Deffo want to make it clear to the buyer what comeback/guarantee they can expect. Personally i would avoid advertising that you are planning to buy and sell . The tax/VAT man may be interested if its more than just a one off. Best regards Don.
