@@JohnDoe-fb2ti Korone is the key to all of this. I hope she comes back to it with Bison, if Subaru can go from noob to Master in a few months without any kind of CR Cup or similar tournament participation, then surely Korone can improve too.

Pekora was thinking of organizing one but the timing didn't work out. Maybe we will get one later.

@@JohnDoe-fb2ti Yeah, there was a time where there were enough Holomems playing that you could get a 16 player tourney going. If they did one now, many of them would have to start grinding again. Right now Subaru, Botan, Towa, Aki, and now Aqua are the only one's playing regularly that I've seen. (Korone will probably start grinding with Bison back though, lol)

sadly that won't happen, bc pros are at legend rank (you'll need grind 2000+ Master point, you will start at 1500 MR, and in master rank they will only give you +5 point/ win )

she really kicked off the SF6 bug that caught a bunch of her fellow members but she really hasn't played recently except to try out Akuma. I hope the prodigal doggo returns under her old master Lord Bison.

Yeah, it's the highest main rank, but SF6 is unusual among fighting games in that it's ranking system is designed to progress you towards Master, it's possible to reach it with a win rate around 40% in Diamond. The system is Rookie, Iron, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum and Diamond, with 5 sub-ranks each. Each character has its own rank, and you start by playing 10 placement games that can potentially get you straight to Diamond 5. You get matched within a fairly broad range of ranks (Diamonds might get matched with Plats or Masters, e.g.). The lower ranks have more winstreak bonuses and demotion protection than the higher ranks. Once a character reaches Master they're locked into that rank and play only Diamonds and Masters. When playing against other Masters the normal points scheme gets replaced by a straight Elo system called Master Rate, where a small number of points are exchanged and the winner takes the same number of points as the loser loses. So Master is sometimes considered the point where Ranked actually begins for good players. The top 500 players by MR at any time have the vanity rank Legend, and MR resets back to 1500 at the start of every season.

Yeah it's normal in SF6, you play enough and get lucky with opponents that are much higher ranked than you can hit masters with a negative win rate. It's why people joke that masters is really when ranked begins

50% winrate is the ideal in fighting game. 1 win for each 1 lose. That means you find equal opponent or rival around your skill level.

Master is more of a start of "the real ranking experience". From beginner to diamond - you have a system that works on LP, but once you switch to master your main ranking system becomes MR(Master rank). You start at 1500 by default and there is a world of difference between mr1200 player, mr1500 player, mr1700 player and so on. While master is technically the highest rank apart from legend(top500 players), it is better to view it as a real start for ranked matches where everyone knows what they're doing

Against an evenly matched player, you gain 50 LP for winning, but only lose 40 LP for losing. It's designed to feel like you're climbing rather than to accurately gauge skill. About 10% of ranked players are in Master. Master has a separate ranked points system called MR and it functions like a "real" ranked system. You lose as many points as you gain for fighting an evenly ranked player, so climbing is much harder. You also lose a ton of MR for losing lower-MR players. All that said, having a 45% win rate against all but the top 10% of players is still a worthwhile achievement that still takes practice and growth. It's just not exactly the same as hitting top rank in other competitive games.

Its normal for new player to have 40percent winrate. I'd say 50% or higher is for people who understand what fg is about.
