Amazingly done! You jusst saved me, I live in the middle of nowhere and. I already starting pull it apart before your video. The entire hub fell out. So i didn't know what to do. Then isaw you saying to leave the axle nut on. So i put the broken hub on and put the axle nut back on and did your method. You a genius 👏 Thank you!!
If it is really stuck, using the flange and hardened bolt technique will rip the hub off the bearing. Fusing the hub and bearing with some spot welds will insure the besring comes off as one complete unit.
Cutting the slot is a good tip, maybe weld a nut to the flange if it is really stubborn. Great tip, thanks for sharing. Every trick to getting these out is helpful, sometimes it takes a combination of all to get that buggers to break loose. Not sure where you are at, that rust doesn't seem that bad. Backing plate is still there, parking brake hardware still has it's galvy coating, abs sensor actually came out in 1 piece and the entire bottom of the car does not look like the deck of the Titanic.
Well, I didn't have too much trouble. Slacken the four hub retaining bolts half to 1 turn and put a spare wheel back on. Then you can apply all manner of brutality to it until the bearing starts to shift - if you have a farm yard that can include driving it 😊
I think the axel nut has to stay on so you don't just separate the hub face from the hub. I think pulling on the hub face is how you would free the bearings form the hub itself.
