To inform a lot of people who don’t know but the easiest things you can do to check if you are leaking is do a visual inspection of all the a/c lines and check for any moisture or wet spots. Also where the recharge valves are at both high and low as those typically go out and cost $14 at your local autozone. You can also get a o ring kit online to replace the a/c gaskets as those go out as well. You can also do a process of elimination wether your compressor is going out or not. If you pop your fuse panel under the hood you’ll see the a/c relay swap that out with the horn relay and if it works replace the relay. If your a/c compressor is engaging but no air is coming out open the passenger door and hit the black box under your glove box with your fist a little hard. If the air suddenly turn on replace the blower motor. If those things don’t work do what this guy did and buy a little can and refill it to see if your compressor engages. If all that don’t work and you’re still not getting cold air chances are your a/c compressor took a crap and you’ll need to replace it. Eventually you’ll want to get it professionally fixed as the a/c system needs a specific amount of freon & oil to work properly. The last thing you want to do over fill your a/c system and completely destroy everything.
He nailed it. On the 2015-2021 wrx only add 28-30psi. The compressor will surge the high pressure sensor and cause the ac to switch on and off every 10 secounds if you add tomuch to this system. One would think thats too low but not on this car. 100% correct.
Most important thing is to check if both AC fans are spinning. Failure of a fan will cause the valve to release pressure and youll notice a cap missing when that happens. 260+ high side the caps pop.
Thank you so much for this video! My compresor wasn't turning on so I watched your video and...Tada! So stoked. Thise who share this content are awesome and it is appreciated.
Its a good thing i came across this video. I have a 16 wrx and noticed that the ac compressor wont engage as well. I will try this fix later. Nice set of mountain bikes.
If you have to keep recharging your A/C you have a leak and that needs to be repaired as you will keep throwing money out the window filling the system over and over, Also if the system is totally empty it will need to be evacuated for an hour to remove air and moisture.
Tired to fill mine but the gauge shows low and doesn’t move at all , held for 30 seconds , tried a couple times to make sure can and hose was on right , got nothing , gona check the fuse , any advice otherwise ?
That’s going to make your compressor go out next time or now change both seals on the compressor they cost $4 each at Subaru if you don’t see any leaks or slight oil on a line you should be fine to fully and properly charge it at a local shop for between 120-140 it only takes about one pound most will say it takes the new stuff but it doesn’t tell them to look at the sticker under the hood. That was my problem the smaller seal on the ac compressor was leaking slightly
@@josevilla7442 replaced the seal , pumped it with nitrogen 180 pounds , held the leak fine after two days , sucked it all out with a pump down to the microns , filled and been cold sense
I believe I’m having the same issue unfortunately a/c pro is 200 bucks where I live. Do you know of any cheaper alternatives I should look into? Also after you topped up is it still holding strong at this point?
The compressor has shims. Use a feeler gauge and you should have .4mm - .5mm of clearance on the clutch. If not remove a shim and try again. There's videos showing all over RU-vid. Most people have .7mm+ with the clutch not engaging on the compressor. You do not need to replace the compressor.
Look up MrSubaru1387 he has some good videos of the common failure points for leaks the seals are like $3 but still probably best to have a shop do it. They have the expensive fancy machines that inject the die to find the leaks and vacuum out any Freon and then refill
