Love the channel and all the videos!!!! I would also like to add. Just an extra step before slapping the rotor back I always clean the brake shoes and surrounding area to make sure it free of all the excessive brake dust that helps decrease the possible noises you get in the rear when the brakes being applyed . One of the things I love that you did is use a torque wrench to torque the caliper bolts down. The STi brembo calipers Front/Rear both the two mounting bolts and the brake bleeder screw are known to seize into the calipers because they are aluminum and the pull the threads out or the bolt snaps off inside. So what I would do is dab little anti seize on the caliper bolts to prevent that from happening. Alittle goes along way with anti seizes

I love dangling my brake calipers ! I haven't had turned rotors for years but you should lightly sand the surface of the rotors to prevent a singing noise when applying the brakes. Yes I have had that problem before. Thanks Mr Subaru Good Advice!

Typically I’ll antiseize the caliper bolts and behind the rotor so next time I don’t run the risk of rounding the bolts and then have to beat the hell out of the rotor to get it off. PA salt and rust issues though.

Typically I attach a hose for bleeding to the bleeder and crack it open before compressing the piston. Better to remove the old fluid than push it all back up the system.

I would love to see a video on how to rebuild the rear brake caliper on my 04 Forester, there are videos on how to rebuild the fron'ts, but nobody has taken the time to make one of the rears, and having just taken mine apart and found a metal retainer ring that I wasn't expecting to find in the rear caliper seals, I'd love to see what its supposed to look like!

What if your disc on inside was worn, but car ran fine just a grindey noise under braking, no binding etc. So off with wheel out with pads 65 nm torque wrench removal, and NO bracket came off when the caliper was removed to be hung?. Brand new ebc turbo groove discs and ebc pads. Caliper put back on with new subaru bolts torqued to 65nm handbrake adjusted to accommodate 6-7 clicks. Wheel on and it's binded. Pads were grinded at sides to slot sweet as a glove into brembo too. Every step followed by subaru and has now binded a bit??. Checked also the piston was moving back and forth when it was off?. Thing is I've done this job 7 times before over last 14 yrs with the car and never been served with this problem. Any ideas as to where the ghost is ???. Thanks

I had a shop foreman that would let the caliper dangle on the brake line. Pissed me off whenever he did brakes.

If all else fails use a bigger hammer. Or read the instructions.

Had to helicoil the front brembo caliper... Never seen a through hole on the steel knuckle and threads in an aluminum caliper. Normally it's the other way around. Stripped the threads in reverse, FML

Tyler Moore when they use steel bolts and Aluminum calipers the Bolt galvanizes . 350Z and EVO suffer the same fate.

Is it ok to use anti-sieze on the caliper mounting bolts?
@gallantghost483
@gallantghost483 4 года назад
I always use copper anti-seize on mine. I'm no expert, but they galvanize something awful if you don't..

I would steel into aluminum not good . You may wind up stripping the threads when remoing the caliper bolts . Common on stis

What brake caliper spreader is that you're using? I have a Lang Tools 279-5420 for the front brembos but am looking for a smaller version for the rears. Thanks!

@MrSubaru1387 4 года назад
My caliper spreaders are a Snap-on and Blue-Point. The BluePoint is a rebranded Lang. Not sure if the Subaru is a rebrand or their design.
