This recording is part of a "quick start" series designed to help you get up and running using Subassembly Composer. Subassembly Composer is an application that is included with your Civil 3D installation. Using Subassembly Composer you can easily create custom subassembly parts for use in a Civil 3D corridor model. In this session we'll use the decision feature to add custom daylighting controls.

Jeff, I have a dumb question. I am trying to create a subassembly that basically targets two surfaces. I need it to project a slope @ -3:1 as far as possible from my design surface, then conclude at -0.25:1 to an offset parameter which is 2' off PL (basically to make a crib wall with as minimal a height as possible). I have tried composing with aux points but with no avail. I tried working from the bottom (EG) up, and from the top (FG) down. My work around has been project a grading object past the wall at -3:1 from FG, then us an assembly with a link to surface w/ slope assembly to FG surface from 2' off PL, see where it daylights, extract a feature line from the corridor, explode the dynamic line, convert back to feature line and Infill. Even that has been more challenging then I imagined. Any help on this matter would be amazing.

It’s usually due to missing (surface) target.
