In this video I'll show you the steps that I took to solve this problem. I'm working on a 2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek. Part number: 10921AA231, 16177AA040-1, 806944060-1.
Thanks so much my dude. I was terrified I would have to take everything apart to get to the sensor it's self and I'm so glad it's just right in front of the engine
Excellent video. Thank you. Do you know the difference between the part number used in the video, vs part 10921AA23B ? Are they interchangeable (is one part# newer)?
Hi! I have this code on my dad's 2015 Subaru Forester 2.0L We've replaced the Oil Control Valve that is in the video, dome camshaft sensors and also the engine oil. However, the code still shows on alongside with the cruise control and sport mode blinking. There is anoyher light that is ON (I think it's Hill start, or something like that). We've done all type of research and we do not now wich can me the main problem. Hope you can help!
Didi hi, I got the code P000B and my subaru 2012 is rattling on passenger side, today went to mechanic and find out I've exceeded 5,000km of service, so decided to change the engine oil, oil filter and coolant too. Engine light came off but still find out the rattling noise is still there, will it go off?
If the engine is stll rattling after changing the oil, it sounds like the valves or timing chain is bad. Bad things happen to the engine when you done keep up with oil services.
For the 2014 2.5l engine. bank 2 is on the driver side. Codes p000A and p000B are on the passenger side. p000A is for the intake and p000B is for the exhaust. I'm not sure if that's the same setup for the 2018 WRX engine
Kumar, if you can.... update the title to "Subaru 4 Cylinder P000A, P000B, P000C, P000D Problem Solved". I was lucky to watch it and find your GREAT writing on the cardboard for showing all the codes and the linkage to the parts, but a lot will miss this since the title is P000B. So, let me tell you my story and how you fixed my problem! .... my daughter's 2014 CrossTrek was throwing a P000A bank(1) code. The symptom was that we saw check engine light *AND* traction control warning light *AND* cruse control was blinking. So after i saw your video, i quickly popped off that plastic cover by carefully undoing the 2 plastic tabs, then was able to take off the part with a 10mm wrench like you said and carefully squeezed the connector down to remove the part from the connector..... TACTICALLY.. before the part could arrive.... i cleaned out very well the 'gunked up' center pin that would not come out easily when you hold the part with inside down.... after cleaning up the part , i reinstalled carefully the same part and the car has run great without the check codes for 2 days straight so far. I also bought a cheap OBD II code reader and on that thing you can reset the codes/clear-them. THANKS AGAIN... u saved me from going to a dealership and probably spending $350 dollars on time, labor and parts and also getting talked into fixing other things on the car at the dealer..... thanks again...... (oh, ordered the new part, just not in yet)
Thank you so much, this was amazingly detailed with names and all. My EL came on tonight and I do believe it will be my intake solenoid simply because of the long wait it’s been since oil/filter replacement, which definitely means mine is most likely clogged (sticking as you demonstrated). Liked and subbed. 👍🏽
Same here, 2018 STI and throwing the D code. Im almost 100% sure the part to repalce is the oil control solenoid, not the sensor. but im not completely sure. I have no way to tell which of the two are acting erratically without a proper scan tool, but i can use my accessport to monitor the ACVS on the both left and right intake and exhaust and i can see the left side exhaust ACVS acts erratically, lags behind the left side and it throws the code eventually if i cruise at 2-3k RPM a lot. Im considering just buying the solenoid but my car is under warranty. Already been to dealer once and they "couldnt replicate the problem"....
I got the same code but it is P000A an bank 1 low response I went ahead an replaced the sensor on bank 1 an am still getting that code just replaced the oil an filter as it was due. I gave a 2012 subaru impreza
Which sensor did you replace, was it the oil control solenoid? And how is the oil level and how does the oil looks like. And did you go too long on the previous oil change? These are all things that could set that code to go off on those engines.
my 2012 Imprezza had a code poob/pood Got it fixed and Check engine light came back on as P000D . Also has Oil leaks . On 1/31 Mechanic put Marvel Mystery oil in and Flushed engine out. 9 days later P000D came on . Dealership Flushed out Mystery oil and put in Dye to see where leaks are. Go back March 14 2022 to See where it is. Could the Mystery oil cause this Latest Problem?? Your Video was Excellent. Also had sludge in my oil on 1/3??. Had oil change back in Sept 2021. Thank you
@@didisway3341 Subaru Diagnosed and Code P000D Came up. Multiple oil Leaks and they flushed the Mystery oil out and Added dye to Determine the Leaks.Go back in 2 weeks to see where the leaking is coming from. Then they can Determine what the main issues is. Do you think it can be related to Camshaft slow bank..1st time code P000B came up and Prior Mechanic Replaced VVT Sensor on Jan 31, 9 Days later Check engine light came on again and Yesterday 2-21-2022 The Code P000D Came up. Do you think an Oil flow issue?. Just concerened this could cost a Lot of Money. For 10 years I have always used an Synthetic oil 0W-20. Wondering if my Oil Change in Sept 2021 the mMechanic I took it to Used the wrong oil? There was Sludge in th oil. Go Back on March 14th. Car is still running Ok .What do you think??? Thank you for Answering
Nothing was replaced Yesterday until they Determine where the Oil Leaks are coming from. Thats why they put the dye in from what I was told by SubaruDealer. 2012 Imprezza
@@anthonybilotta5713 So the most common problem I've seen with those 2.5L engine, is the oil. They tend to be very picky on oil viscosity, and capacity. In order for the variable valve timing actuator (aka phaser) to work properly, those two things have to be correct. Another cause might be Worn timing chain, or tensioner.
@@didisway3341 Thank you. On March 14th I bring it back and they should Diagnose the issue after putting in the dye. Funny thing is I see no oil under the car. I will let you know what happens, Thank again. Expensive fix you think??
I have a p000a p000b on my 2015 jeep patriot . Im told the dealership reaplced camshaft actuator solenoid. Still getting the same code . Should i replace the sensors next ?
I'll first start by looking at the oil. If the oil is good, next remove that sensor that i mentioned on the video for p000B. The thing in the middle of the sensor should move freely in and out, if not then the sensor is bad.
