The Odisha Cabinet has given the green light to the SOP for the Subhadra Yojana, a transformative scheme aimed at empowering women across the state. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced the approval in the Assembly today. This scheme is set to roll out during the financial years 2024-25 to 2028-29, with a substantial budget of Rs 55,825 crore earmarked for its implementation. Subhadra Yojana aims to uplift over 1 crore women in Odisha, specifically targeting those between the ages of 21 and 60. However, women from economically privileged backgrounds, government employees, and income tax payees will not be eligible. Additionally, those already receiving Rs 1,500 or more per month, or Rs 18,000 or more annually, under other government schemes, will also be excluded. Eligible beneficiaries will receive Rs 10,000 annually in two installments-one on Raksha Bandhan and the other on International Women’s Day (March 8)-directly into their bank accounts. Over five years, each beneficiary will receive a total of Rs 50,000 under this scheme.
The direct credit of financial assistance into the beneficiaries' bank accounts is a key feature of Subhadra Yojana, as emphasized by the Chief Minister.
