Subjection and Submission to Civil Government by William Paley 1785 

William Paley published his Principles of Moral and Political Philosophy in 1785. He noted that power really resides in the numerous and wondered how so many were governed by so few. He later advised against letting large numbers of people join together in unions and discussed working for the greater good. Then he discussed how a colony can become independent.
