I am an enormous Sublime fan, but the band waited for years before playing music again. They gave their respects to Bradley but life has to continue. The name "Sublime with Rome" is incredibly respectful and represents exactly what this band is.

If it was respectful, it was forced respect. Bradley Nowell had the sole rights to Sublime when he passed away. When they did decide to start back playing again, they wanted to use the name Sublime but couldn't, due to a lost court battle with Bradley Nowell's estate, thus adding the "with Rome" part. But I totally appreciate your sentiment. =)

Bro - this is totally original. Sure, has some Sublime ska/punk feel to it but I could also totally hear Bruno Mars singing this. Not sure how people can hate on this. They are not clinging to the past or dishonoring Bradley. This is something totally new. And totally rad.

totally agree. I don't understand the hate they get from people, yes it's not the OG Sublime, but the new songs are excellent! Rome brings a lot to the table, the new songs have some strong hooky, pop foundations. Not the OG Sublime, but still great artists who make great music.

Sublime wasn't just Brad, guys. It included Bud and Eric. Where would Sublime have been without Bud and Eric? They have they right to their own fucking band. Let them do what they will. Besides, it's not like they call it Sublime in one word. They are just trying to continue the Sublime legacy. Rome is not Sublime. He is not Brad Nowell reincarnated. That's why it's called Sublime, WITH Rome. It's a collab act. I've cried over Brad's death, guys. I'm happy to see that the remaining band wants to keep what Brad started.

bearclawsrock actually, bud left because he has a new child to take care of. these guys are old now, and they're family men. and no, he does not regret recording anything. there was also a dispute with him and his manager. bI'd made it very clear that he would be willing to make music again, and I'm sure he will one way or another. if you've heard anything about bud saying that he regrets this or whatever, it's the anti Rome retards trying to poison the reputation of Sublime with Rome. in the meantime, Rome knows he's not Brad, nor does he pretend to be. he's not trying to fill any shoes, he's trying to perform at his best as Bradley would.

Haters man. I'm a true sublime fan, know every song lyric, and play a few. If Rome had been the original singer and died, then brad had steeped in, y'all would be hating on brad. The beauty of music/musicians is they're never the same. I'm going to see this version of sublime this Saturday and I'm stoked about it. Rome is a talented musician and he has my respect, same as brad. It's sad that he had to go too early but that's what heroin does. Took my brother 3 years ago and almost took me twice. I wish he could've overcame his demons, maybe I would've seen him at a meeting lol. End rant. That is all!

I was almost front row on there first big show at smoke out 2009 not many people were sure about this new guy but as the show started I looked behind me to see more than 80 thousand people packed to the rim singing the song that impacted a lot of us local southern Californians heavily. No it was not Bradley and it will never be Bradley but I can tell you something magical and special was in the air at that show and it created a lot of closure for true fans that needed to feel Eric's bass lines buds drum riffs and feel sublime as a live band not just a CD or digital download. Sublime with time may have sold out but they brought back a feeling some of us really needed . No I do not follow or am into the new music but rome is an amazing frontman to stand with such an iconic band and not replace but rejuvenate that ok sublime stylie

i just saw Sublime with Rome last week at Blossom in Ohio. i was skeptical because i've never heard Rome before, and i was there to see Sublime, they only played the OG sublime songs, but Rome was a REALLY cool guy. it was a super fun show. and now that im coming to listen to all of the Sublime with Rome songs, i really wish they had played a couple of his songs. such as this one, been playing on repeat for a while.

That's what I liked about Sublime. It was just 3 guys who worked from the ground up.Rome just kind of filled the place. It doesn't live up to my expectations at all. I already said i don't care if you like it, but it's different, and I don't care for it.

J- ROW Bradley was the creative force in the band. He wrote most of the songs, and that's obvious if you look at the songs Rome has written. Save for a few, they all pretty much sound similar. TBH, there's no reggae in this album at all. It's a totally different band, and it should have a totally different name. They should have just left it all alone and made their own band like they did with the LBDA. I think what's coming up next for Rome is a duet with Justin Bieber. I bet he'd do it if there was a big payday. That's why I feel Rome is a sellout. I'd like him to keep doing his solo work, and let Bud and Eric form their own band with someone else, someone who has the sense to not try and gain fame from a name that would immediately associate him with fame and success. Rome took the easy way out, and now tons of people hate him. If Eric ever leaves, and they still call it Sublime with Rome, it will be even worse. It will be the least authentic band in the USA.

I feel they would have been so much more successful had they avoided the controversy of using the Sublime name. Sublime With Rome was actually really good and had a lot of good jams.

stop fucking comparing rome with brad. "Sublime"was a band with bud brad and eric. Brad died, but Bud and Eric didnt. They dont call themselves "Sublime" in respect to Brad and what the were together, they are in a new band called "Sublime With Rome". Its 2/3 of Sublime with a new lead singer/guitarist. I for one, love Sublime and i love this new band, Sublime With Rome because thats what they are- 2 different bands

They did use the "Sublime" name, however a Los Angeles judge banned the new use of the name bacuase Nowell owned the rights to the sublime name and they were not allowed to use it without the approval and permission from his estate. When the lawsuit was settled they became Sublime With Rome. But yeah i agree. 2 diffrent bands.

I just wrote a post on the Panic video that was similar, although far more wordy. I totally agree. I could never see Bradley writing a song like this. Christ, if only we had a channeler who could channel Bradley into his body... It's possible, but not likely.

I just saw sublime with Rome, what a great concert. Rome messed up on some of the classics of Sublime, but he was drunk . Brad was inspiration to so many bands, who try to follow him by rapping to reggae and ska. Wish I could of seen Brad before he died.

The reality of it is that Bradley Nowell is dead. He owned the rights to sublime. Bud and Eric had no right to call their project Sublime. And a California court agreed with that and forced them to stop Playing under that name. Bud has said in interviews that he regrets ever making music with Rome but that he would work with Eric again just not under the name Sublime. truth is SWR is a quality band. But they are not Sublime. In my opinion it should not even be called Sublime with Rome. Currently only one original member is in the band. That would be like Ringo going on tour with three nobodies and calling his band the Beatles. Only the magic that Brad Nowell, Bud Gaugh, and Eric Wilson created should be called Sublime.

Jeff Riddick That's my feelings on the situation. Once a band member leaves, you're no longer that band. I think they should have preserved Sublime by changing the name. Sure, Sublime isn't just Brad, but Sublime isn't Sublime without him. Even calling themselves Sublime with Rome isn't accurate to me. They can still keep his memory and legacy in check without having to mention Sublime, true fans of Sublime will both follow and understand who they are and where the rest of the band members are.

I loved the original sublime. They where the best, obviously bradley made the band what it is. To be honest though I feel really bad for how bud and Eric never got a chance to tour under sublime when it was super popular after their self titled. I agree naming it swr is pushing it but at least they didn't name it sublime like they tired.
