I do like how Stephen is basically just replicating in-game his own real-life struggles with not having enough storage space for all his videogame Billy bookcases :D
0:46 Gar (Probably alligator gar) 3:30 This is in fact a Jellyfish 4:42 Salmon Snailfish (Thanks Vagabond! I knew it was a snailfish but Vagabond identified the specific one!) 7:02 Longnose Hawkfish (It is indeed related to the lionfish) 8:07 Megamouth Shark (This is my best guess, this one is mostly cartoony)
This was truly a "Stephen facing one of his fears" VOD. looking forwards to more "Stephen facing one of his fears" VODs, because that will likely not cease to exist. The extreme spectrum of emotions that this game causes in Stephen, fluctuating between pure joy and pure fear, is incredible to behold.
33:23 wow, I've never seen this many Stalker teeth just naturally(?) exist randomly I've really been enjoying Stephen's referral of the Seamoth as the "car", he's not wrong! 😂 1:23:23 The Cyclops as "bigger car" is also very neat
the way stalkers work is that they collect metal salvage and bring it to their nest. A stalker "nest" is a randomly placed spot somewhere in the grassy plateau. It has no visual indication, it's just a spot chosen somewhere. Once a metal salvage is in their nest they don't bother--only if the metal is removed from the nest. Sometimes, the stalker nests will spawn above the seafloor. This makes it so salvage is perpetually falling out of the nest; leading to the stalkers picking it up more frequently. This would make it more likely for teeth to spawn naturally. Idk if that's what happened here, but it wouldn't surprise me. Speedrunners like to use it to make it easier to make enameled glass.
32:40 I'm commenting with this timestamp since I saw people asking if he'd seen the first telepathic message on the most recent stream. So here it is for reference!
2:38:38 Just commentating to mark the start of the "Degasi Resource Expedition"-easily one of my favourite moments from this stream both for Stephen's reactions and how tense it was. His reaction when he realized that it was down at the bottom was great. He did extremely well though! I was certainly impressed. 2:49:54 And here's the start of what I'll call "Lithium Mining Mayhem." Man, this game looks so cool-I definitely want to try playing this at some point, and these streams have really helped sell me on it (as well as made me aware of it in the first place, so thank you for that!).
I really don't like how they gate a beacon behind an easy to miss audio log. But since you missed it, If you ever get stuck, Return to the underwater degrassi base and search inside more carefully.
The past two streams made me want to revisit this game so I started a fresh survival save (used to only ever pick O2 and Health difficulty bc managing the food and water felt tedious back when I first played). It feels weird actually picking up salt this time around... Does this make me a salt-seeking animal?
You going need to make more space once you can make the water maker. Plus it will if I remember give salt on the side. Plus that island with the beam is in or data
"Building in order" yeah this game is ten years old lmao (I feel like if this game was made in 2024 it would use everything it needs first, and then like "Oh yeah you're out of titanium")
the final release was 2018 anything before that was early access and as someone who played it in that state it's nowhere near the same game just like subzero was a completely different game before release too
