Im puerto rican, I’ve known Matias for. While now. Guy was shot twice, once in 2012, another in 2013. Went to prison for 2 years, then left for Mexico to train and stay away from drugs and bad influences from the streets here in PR. Guy has a granite chin, elite cardio, superb will and is the one of the best infighters I’ve seen in all my life. This man fights old school. His best skill is probably his unorthodox arm punching where the force comes from his shoulder and he doesn’t rotate the hips. Most fighters are not going to see his short hooks coming despite how long his arms are, guanrate he beats everyone at 140 and Gervonta will NEVER fight this man.

Agree Subriel is strong mentally- Famous trainer Cus D'Amato said "WILL beats Talents always"- Subriel I believe has the strongest will in boxing period-- He will dominate 140 division- Timothy Bra dley has Subriel #1 in the division--

@@groovetraxxxgingerbreadman1282 yes but the problem is Matias doesn't commit to his punches, he mostly throws 40% at max, which will make it significantly harder for Teo to counter his shots. I still got my boy Teo Fimo winning but it's gonna be a tough tough battle.

Subriel Matias is definitely a unique boxer. No one has that same style. It's like watching Trinidad, except Matias has a better chin is faster and great defense. Once he polishes his defense when he's coming forward and improves his ability to cut the ring, he will be unstoppable. His punching strength and technique comes from his shoulder and not the waist, this gives him the ability to hurt his opponents with those short range shots that do some major damage. He is also able to counter quicker because he isn't looping punches, they are all close so he's able to beat his opponent to the punch. Whoever fights him will need to really fight him from the outside but they will need the stamina and strength to keep at bay, like a one-two, get out. Someone like Shakur, that can make full use of the ring and stay away from that inside fight otherwise is game over...

JDL, yes 100% everything you said. And yes, Teo is quite formidable and would be the most difficult fight for Matias. Unfortunately, Teo just wants a payday now and wants millions of dollars. The only fight like that would be against Ryan or may be Davis. He won't fight Matias, especially since Matias has not been built up with any kind of bizarre behavior trick or anything like is the case with Rolly, Haney and Prograis. They all rely on weird behavior to get attention and a following. So, Matias won't be getting any paydays any time soon. He already has hands problems, as seen in a video he released of his injured hands after the Ergashev fight, so they'll wait like happened with GGG.
I can not agree more👍. Lopez will give him a great fight but he won’t last to see 12 rounds. The only threat to the monster is if he goes up in weight to meet David Benavides or those bigger guys

The guy that matias beat the other day is better than Teo. These other guys have a name that's why they get ranked higher.
Eragshev has beaten nobody of note in the pro ranks either. Yeah he has a great Amateur back-ground ......but has done nothing in the pro-ranks. Eragshev is probably Matias' best win to date.

Matias is very similar to Tito Trinidad..Same attitude with island on his back, straight foward pressure, doesnt fight much on backfoot, and the way he throws the punches, dam!..very decieving..way to defeat a fighter like that..fight off the backfoot, jab is a must, dont engage..stay away..get on your bike!!..because exchanging and slugging with Matias is a lose lose situation
He's clearly a quality champ, but he hasn't beaten anyone major. And he lost his last fight that went the distance. If the right fighter outboxed him, a lot of folks would question how good he really was.
It's obvious that you don't know who Matías is... That defeat was after killing Dadashev with more than 2,400 blows in 11 rounds. Matías was in depression due to the death of the Russian, he stopped training and planned to leave boxing... And when he recovered, he avenged that defeat with a knockout; Petros spent days in a hospital

Matias still has to improve, 1) he needs rounds 2) he is knock out artist can’t outbox a technical Boxer speed movement counterpuncher and fundamentals. 3) more fights he has 20-21 fights, 4) lacks movements too flat footed 5) though still young he will turn 32 years of age. I like him though, we will let time tell.

Bro you’re bugging if you think Matias is going to just beat everyone at 140. He doesn’t have any defense and he walks into shots. If he fights anyone at the top 5 man it’s going to be a tough fight for him. Matias is a beast but I don’t know if he just makes easy work of those guys. They have pin point accuracy to hit him in the right place to drop him and he has been hurt before too, that’s apart of boxing. I think mentally they are all strong. The top dogs are all really tough.

He doesn’t have problems with movement he cuts the ring off pretty well and he recognizes his opponents weak side that’s how he gets in. He does get hit a lot by shots he shouldn’t get hit with but that’s because of his carelessness which is his biggest flaw.

Haney is a solid...yet very underrated body-puncher. Haney is a master of range. He doesn't have Matias' power...that's obvious...but his hands are faster and way more precise. If it did come down to a fire fight in some parts of the fight.....Don't be shocked to see Haney rock Matias due to his faster hands and better precision. Matias' offense is his defense

Whats your gameplan for when Haney loses his legs by round 5 and he can't distance and circle the ring? Whats Haney gameplan when Matias cuts off the ring and punishes him for clinching? Matias is because dangerous of his jab, ability to cut off the ring and his infighting/being dangerous in the clinch. Matias knows how to reach his opponents because he knows how to cut off the ring and Matias is 5"9 with a 72 inch reach. He has a very good ability to shorten his punches which increases his accuracy. Matias knows how to slip his shots in between his opponents loops. Check the Ponce fight to see Matias utilize this. If you hold Matias you're getting beat up. Matias throws 100 punches a round and he only throws more when the rounds get deeper. His style beats slick boxers. Its unrealistic to believe Haney distances Matias for 12. Richardson Hitchins admitted "you cant keep Matias on the outside". Even Shakur Stevenson said Matias will put you through hell. The most technical slick boxers giving Matias respect for his style. Better than respect is fear. Hitchins declined to be Matias mandatory. He knows the danger that presents in his "young" career. So if pros admit Matias is difficult, why do you pretend Matias is easy?
