Haha thank you! I'm easily excited. Especially when someone is nicest enough to give me free thing! I will definitely try pre-wetting the paper to see if that makes a difference. As for the PR watercolors to me they seem like excellent quality. That being said I haven't really spent a lot of money on watercolors. What's the best brand you would recommend?

@@DoomsayerDesigns pre-wetting paper is alright (okay, depending on paper and on technique), but pre-wetting colour pans is a game changer. ✌️ As for watercolour brands, tbh, I'm not that fussed. Any professional brand works well. A lot of it is down to personal preference (and style and location). I prefer tube colours and non-baked pans. Some of my (professional) watercolourist friends vehemently disagree. 🤷 I use mainly Qor watercolours these days as I like to buy vegan as much as possible. Winsor & Newton is another favourite (the Professional range, I don't like Cotman). I find Schmincke, Sennelier and Daniel Smith very overpriced, but they are all great if you can get them for cheap. F.ex Daniel Smith is somewhat cheaper in the US. A lot of the 'artisan' colours (Isaro, A.Gallo, Roman Szmal, Lutea etc.) are something I find hard to get excited about. I'm pretty basic. I'm not a big fan of Asian watercolour manufacturers either (think ShinHan, Holbein). Pro tip: colours from basic pigments are pretty much equal across all brands, so buy the cheapest. If you want to get a great professional grade pan palette for cheap, Rosa Gallery is excellent. ... Okay, I'm an art supply nerd, don't ask me anything if you want a short answer. 😅 I've tried it all and love the technical details. And I like a good supply chat with manufacturers, sellers and other artists...

@@DoomsayerDesigns and to add to that novel, I really like the 'novelty' colours in Daniel Smith. Moonglow. 😍 I tend to shop for specific colour/pigment across brands and choose the one I like best, be it the look or composition (pigments, processes, end product or price/quality). Thus my active palette right now has Qor, W&N Professional, Holbein, Schmincke (Horadam), Van Gogh, Rosa, Daniel Smith, Roman Szmal, Jackson's and Sennelier (l'Aquarelle) in it. Most brands with only 1 or 2 entries.
