For anyone wondering why the edge wear isn't working, pay close attention to what channel he's on in the upper left corner of his Layers pane. He doesn't really call out when he switches to Height before changing his Detail Blend layer to Passthrough. This was the issue for me, as I was setting the Detail Blend to Passthrough on the BaseColor channel instead of the Height. Also note, he changes the channel back to BaseColor before setting the Dirt Layer to Multiply.
I see there haven't been answers for a while, but still: The only way I can get the edge wear to affect heights layared under a a blank passthrough anchor point, is to have my height layers have the "color" property. Otherwise, using just height, nothing happens.
What a great tutorial, but I have a question: How can I create the same thing but with precise curves that are not freehand? Thank you, greetings from Chile
thank you Lucas ! Surely Helps me a lot , however I did everything exactly like your tutorial , but the edge wear just won’t show up around the painted details like bolts and bevel lines (Q _ Q)
It's interesting. I can't get the convex edges to show up. It works fine for AO and concave stuff.. just not actual edge wear. Any ideas? It registers everything as flat but the actual deepest groove and the bolt surroundings.
thanks for the tutorial but the dirt really didn't work for me unfortunately. It kept affecting the parts that had the section of my height details on them.
detail blend does not work even close to as shown its because you go to the height channel without saying anything at 1:59 and you have to set passthrough on that channel or it doesnt work
Thank you for this great tutorial, but for unknown reasons, the advanced blending options somehow is missing in my end in the brush settings even though I already checked alpha sections 🥲 could someone help me out of this?
