Thank you so much, I pretty much got all the maps right, except for the height map. It would always become puffy and I had no idea why, but now I do! So thank you very much. You make great content.

I would really suggest people use and learn the hypershade editor. some basic knowledge of shading network would really help new people to understand shading more. and gives a better visual representation of what node goes where
@polyrendr
@polyrendr 2 года назад
For sure, great idea. This was more aimed for beginners. When I first learned how to connect textures I found it much easier to understand by first learning outside of the hyper shade editor. Definitely more intermediate - advanced tutorials in the future though :)

Thanks for this, it's exactly what I needed. 🤠 If you were using an ACES workflow, would you recommend the textures be exported as EXRs?
@polyrendr
@polyrendr 4 месяца назад
Thanks man I appreciate the comment! And yes, if you're specifically using ACES then EXR's would be best.

Nice video! But i think there is a plugin for maya to add all the texture maps from Substance to a material aiStandardSurface in a couple clicks!

Great tut, music too loud tho;) great tutorial though, I've sen many people build the PBR setup with nodes only... This is way more streamline.

i have a question for the color management in SP, why you didnt set the color management to OpenColorIO?
@polyrendr
@polyrendr 11 месяцев назад
From what I understand Maya automatically sets it to ACES.

What does the Baking in Substance do?
@polyrendr
@polyrendr 3 месяца назад
It generates texture maps with the lighting and baking information so your textures will display properly on the model (curvature, AO, normals, etc.)

Love the tutorial, but one critical point: The backgound music is WAY too distracting compared to your voice. Could you at least turn it down? I'm really having trouble differentiating your voice from the music. It makes this hell to watch for someone who was problems picking one sound out from others. Your voice is not loud enough, the music too loud. Thanks for consideration.

start the video and you already had the project going? wtf?... did you use a template when starting the new project?
@polyrendr
@polyrendr Год назад
This video is just showing how to connect textures from Substance Painter to Arnold. The material used is a free material available on the Substance Source website. I used a random turtle model for the example.
