Thanks! Was looking for a sub for a vintage system and find the high-level input somewhat confusing at first. I thought it was supposed to be a L+ L- R+ R- input, but was baffled by seeing only 3 wires.

In my rel instructions the black wire goes into either any left or right negative speaker terminal .the other two wires go into the left and right positive speaker terminals

@@justinparkman3585 I think the floating unconnected black wire in this instance is because he’s using class d monoblocks which are often bridged differential designs so the black binding posts on the amp would have voltage on them, which in a typical amp it would be 0 volts. So it could damage the sub amp. In this instance rel says to ground the sub with a black wire to the preamp ground screw, or by running and rca cable from the preamp or receivers unused rca input to the sub amp, that serves as a ground. But it’s optional, just running the two red wires will work. I just set up a sub this way today for the first time so the info is fresh in my mind. I had a slight hum when using line level input on the sub, I believe from ground loop. Connecting the sub using only the red wire high level inputs removed the hum so I’m pleased with the high level inputs

I have a REL T9/X connected to my NAD M23 Class D and it's pairs well. The high level connection is the only way to go IMO.

I have my REL connected to a class d amp like this , but I get a thump through the REL when I switch my amp on. Is this because of the lack of grounding and will it cause any harm?

Good info as always, thanks! When it comes to setting left/right speaker crossover setting, I'll turn off my two channel power amp and set the rest to none in the config. Then, play a track or movie and adjust. If I don't like the sound of the higher frequencies produced at the subs, I'll adjust them down. With a speaker next to the sub, they need good alignment, or I feel they'll have the same effect as reflections. (not to mention you know exactly what the subs produce and sound like) If the rest of my speakers were on a power amp, I'd do the same with them. They're not next to the subs, so It might not be an issue. (and I couldn't be bothered disconnecting them at the speaker so that the receiver still considers them connected and sends the signal is a minor pain) atb

Can the high low connections be connected on the front L + R or even an additional sub for the Center channel? In other words, three subs 1 for each LCR however, instead of connected on the amp end, connected on the speaker end. (I have wiring already in walls and cannot run a high/low cable back to the amp closet. Thanks!

Thanks for the video Shane. I do have a question though. Would you mind telling me how should i connect and set this specific system: powernode amp which has sub out and internal low pass filter crossover adjustment, ls50 metas and a t5x. Should i go out from sub out to .1/LFE input on the subwoofer and max out the crossover on sub since it will be controlled by the amp? Or one of the videos i belive someone recommended to connect both .1/LFE and the high level input so the sub can blend in much better.

How would the T9x fair positioned in a corner behind the listening position? Would this still work for music and movies? Or would it have to be in front of you. I have space issues with towers and a stove in the corner, so I can't place things too close to the heat source. Also, do you find that the T9x compensates if you go for say, wall mount bass reflex speakers over towers? I've heard it makes smaller speakers sound much bigger, same as full range. This would mean I could have the subwoofer in the front, supporting say an LCR of either PWM1's or Focal 301's. I'd appreciate your advice! Thanks gents, this was a great video.

Under 80 hz shouldn't matter where you place it as far as front or back. Try different locations to find the best response in your listening position. As far as small speakers sounding larger yes any sub will do that but if the crossover is set too high the bass will be localized so if your sub isn't right next to your speakers you will hear it from wherever you put it. So check the frequency response of any speakers you are considering, the lower they effectively go the easier it will be blending them when putting the sub in another location than where the speakers are. It takes alot of trial and error to get it sounding great. I just way over simplified it. Good luck!

The only difference is where the black wire should be hooked with from REL’s instructions. I guess their case does not having any hums due to grounding issues so they just leave the black wire floated.

Where are there instructions that demonstrate connecting the S 510 with the airship, not verbal instructions, but a demonstration. Stereo manufacturers have little idea of how much technical language they are using. A picture is worth 1000 words.
