Amazing photos! Owls are one of my favourite wildlife subjects. They are always mystical to me. It's in there eyes and the way they are completely silence flying in the night. Absolutely wonderful creatures they are!
Wow! Great shots, I feel your excitement when you see the owl, it’s the best feeling finding a bird that you’ve been wanting to photograph for so long.
Beautiful work, Trond. Perseverance and hard work paid off. I love photographing owls. I entered gallery exhibit with three of my pictures last week. One of them was a barred owl, very similar to your tawny owl. One was a hummingbird and one was a butterfly. My group of three won first place.
Those birds are absolutely stunning :D unfortunately I haven't had the honor of getting one on camera yet, but maybe one day.. :D As always.. beautiful work ones again Trond.
Beautiful video Trond. I enjoy your approach to photography. I started bird photography about a year ago, with the purchase of a 500mm lens. So far I have photos of about 60 species of bird in my local area. No owls yet but I'm hoping to get some soon. Thanks for the motivation!
I share your excitement. Love owls. I am fortunate enough to live in a city which is close to a national park in Hungary, where you can find owls (mostly ural owls, not tawny, but they are pretty similar :D ). In autumn they are always hanging around meadows and some of them are pretty tolerant towards humans. Btw is the z9 + 600mm f4e managable if you handhold it?
Great bird. Congratulation. I have some technical question. I see you use the video head on tripod. Do you prefer it over the classic gimbal for long tele? Any advantages over gimbal?
I’ve always felt a bit wary of getting too close to Tawny Owls after what happened to famous wildlife photographer Eric Hoskings. Probably a little overly cautious I admit.
