Do not look for them. You will only find pain. If they are out there, you will find each other. I quit looking a long time ago and do everything alone. If the true friend is close, we should find each other. The problem is, I am very standoffish because of prior events. I may have already encountered the true friend and pushed that person away. Let alone an entire group with whom you share true camaraderie. Tried to tell my parents look. It’s unfortunate, but that type of bonding just does not occur nowadays. I could ask all of you on RU-vid right now. What are your favorite hobbies? Some will say they’ve joined a gym, karate dojo, swimming, or sports team. Others say they’ve joined a church or other spiritual service and they also volunteer at X or Y. Still others will belong to a dancing and singing club, play an instrument, drum circle, or are part of a group of painters. There are a few that say they love to hike in the forest or alongside the beach and take photos of nature. Some go out someplace to go stargazing beyond the city limits. This guy among others are really into the world of business and finance. That may or may not go well together with technology and science. You can go back to school and become a research academic again to take a class. And yet the reason for difficulty is that past a certain age, most are already married with children that go to school, go to work full time, take care of their houses and cars, etc. There are smaller and smaller windows of time for people to do the things they truly want to do, let alone integrate them into their lives.
I’m 43 years old, I don’t think I’ve had any friends since around age 40. At the same time, I’ve started moving up in the world and I truly enjoy my time alone.
I found life to be much easier, simpler, with tremendous more free time. With the free time I gained, I used it to learn all I can about everything I could. Now, I no longer have to pay a, "professional," for anything at all. I do everything myself, now. No mechanics, electricians, plumbers, carpenters, foundation specialists, roofers, electronic technicians, nor anything else are needed.
I retired 7 years after I started a business, stopped dating, rarely going out and keeping my friends to a couple phone calls a month. Amazing what one can achieve when you put 100% of your time on only you and your business,

I apply that advice to anyone who are deal with similar "friends", who is very common. They're draining shit. Don't be afraid or feel regret for doing it. Be with yourself and avoid "friends"/friends, you'll feel more productive and calmer in a short and long term.
They can betray you or try to collect dirt on you because they are the closest ones to you. I believe that if there's an opportune moment to gain an advantage for them selves their friendship will be tested.
@josephkeres4604 No one is self made, everyone needs introductions, connections, and Influence to climb out of the upper middle class. You'll just get out competed by the people who have connections. Life isn't about who works the hardest longest. it's about achieving a goal the most efficient way possible. You will expend 10x the resources and effort I will achieving the same outcome because I have a network and you dont.
I don't want to be friends with people who are mediocre. The problem is, high performance people are impossible to find. I have never met a high performance person in my life, every last person I know is average. For this reason, I walk alone.

@@paulnilsson3058 lots of reasons but i think it can introduce you to new ideas, new places, new hobbies, etc. Otherwise you are less likely to try things outside your comfort zone. In stressful situations, you can also rely on them to help you.
It’s important to have friends because human beings were not created to be alone and contribute nothing. The human brain becomes damaged when it’s isolated and alone for too long. It’s just not natural to want to be completely alone.

I have needed no friends since 8 August 2000 at 18:34. I have even moved, by myself, twice. In today's reality, one would have go go through 1000 people to find a good candidate to be a friend. The same is true to find a girlfriend, or boyfriend. Those other propel can inflict a lot of damage upon us, while we are searching for a friend or a mate. It simply is not worth it to loo for companionship any more. I am not willing to endanger myself for something that has so few benefits.

Its taken me 2 years to finally get rid of them all. All we did was drink and party outside of work. I have other things i want to do now they had to go.
Friends and contacts are two different things , i think people in the comment section were confused about this. Friends can emotionally lean on you wasting your time while contacts can help you building your wealth
U will only get it if you reach that point. I wouldn't go to the extent that I have no friends at all probably. However, you can't carry everyone to the top by yourself. All relationships are two people taking from each other, and if individuals are lucky they can take enough too that makes them be satisfied with their losses. There's never a balance, and most people are net losers. We're all just taking from each other and giving away what we barely have. This is one of the things that hold women back so much, it's not necessarily anything men have done to them - the issue a lot of women crumble if they are forced to spend a weekend alone not contacting anyone. People who have to socialize at every turn dont have time to think, reflect and ponder.

I have two friends I’ve known for years and we Dm on FB a few times a year. That’s it. If I want companionship I will hang with my sister. I had a friend I’ve known over 40 yrs pull some immature fb crap with me and I have just completely ignored her requests to make amends. I’m over it and I don’t need the hassle. People are selfish judgmental and insufferable most of the time lol. I know I sound like the grump but I promise I’m not lol
you're right though. When people get too comfortable with you, they try to pull something eventually. Maybe not everyone or immediately but I've seen it happen time and time again. Best to be kind at a distance and not too often.
My best friend moved to another state last year and I haven't been so happy in my life since lol. Very true. I'm only 27 and I'm starting to realize that people are not how we imagine they are and that they sometimes change for the worst and you have no control over their behavior. Relationships come and go, wealth and legacy is forever.
