You can see the setup in the video. That’s actually a small fish for that setup. It can handle a 100lb GT! Extra heavy 13’ pole, 10oz lead, penn senator 4/0 with 80lb mono and bimini twist/double line and 300lb rub line. Then a Australian slide buckle and 285lb wire hook line and a 16/0 circle hook. Pretty standard Hawaii style ulua setup 🤙🏻

@@k-baradventures6290 question so i saw the guides i used to live in Hawaii but never seen guides like that is the a difference or why that style of guide im looking at getting one of those rods for sturgeon.

Yeah they’re a wire loop guide, made to be tough so they can be knocked around. Not sure if you can get a different style pole with them on. You can buy an ulua pole online, hifishgear.com has some. Only problem is almost all ulua poles are 13’ or more but they are strong as hell!

No, I caught my first ulua on a tohei head. This one ate the menpachi I slid.

Yeah go as much as you can, you gotta out in the time and effort. Every time I go for ulua I learn so much. But the biggest factor i’ve found is location (knowing spots that produce ulua) and moon phase (5 days before and on full moon and 5days before and after and on new moon). Byt you’ll never catch if you dont have bait in the water! I’ve only gotten two ulua strikes and have gone on many many ulua fishing trips
