going thru your earlier videos and comparing them to your 2020 videos. You were so calm, quiet, hesitant and almost fearful. :-) I love how confident and knowledgeable you are in 2020.... you have grown so much! Keep it up girl

Is this breathable like clay would be ? Very cool idea. I was just thinking the other day that one could mix perlite or pumice with cement and make a planter that would be breathable cuz it has the porous pumice . I’m gonna try this . Finding shallow planters is kinda hard 😊Thank you so much for this 🤗🤗🤗

Was that live moss? I was under the impression that live moss doesn’t pair well with succulents because of the water requirements being so different, I also was told to only water once a week? I’m so confused

This is really awesome video. I just had one question. So, in my local nursery, I saw pre-arranged mix of succulents in a put. I really wanted to get those or come back home and make one of my own. But my question is, how do you water the container if it is arranged in a way like you did where the succulents are crowded together? Because usually I think we are advised to only water the soil and not the leaves to avoid leaf rots or stuffs like that. So what is your advice in this case ? How to water and maintain such succulent arrangement? Thank you again for the video :)

If you use a watering container with a straight neck that tapers into a smaller opening instead of a nozzle spray type opening, you can put the tip right on the soil and pour the water. Do that between each plant and that way you are getting under the leaves and not on them.

So is the moss just to be pretty? I still have yet to find cactus potting soil. Maybe I should try online.

great information video on succulents and cacti! Question: when the plants have become overgrown and it's time to repot, is there a way to re-use the top pebble decorations, or do you just dump them and start over?
@oceanbay5624
@oceanbay5624 5 лет назад
Kathleen Wojtkowski I always reuse the top pebble decorations. If the pebbles are big enough, collect them by hand, if the pebbles are small ones, collect them by spoon.

When you water the plant doesn't it leak thru the bottom from the drainage hole?

Where do you get all your succulents?
@MissChaksShack
@MissChaksShack 9 лет назад
Is there a reason everyone plants so many succulents in one planter? Do they coexist in a planter well or does one try to take over the rest? I love the multiples in one planter look but one that I have lots like it is being overwhelmed and I'm not sure how to separate them.
@gardenanswer
@gardenanswer 9 лет назад
MissChaksShack I like to put lots of them in the same container because it just look so pretty. :) They do live happily for quite awhile in close-quarters, but eventually you do have to separate them. I've found that it helps to not fertilize as often, so they won't grow as quickly. I can also take cuttings and harvest pups if any of them are starting to spread to slow the process down. When I decide that they need to be separated, I either take them all out by making cuttings out of them, or gently pull them apart and replant. I think I should add that process to our video to-do list... :) ~Laura

Do you ever find having problems with gnats with the moss inside?
@gardenanswer
@gardenanswer 8 лет назад
+Sherry Howard I have had that problem before and usually fix it by tossing the moss and as much of the soil that's in the pot and replacing it with new, and also couple that with using an organic insecticide to spray that soil and moss thoroughly every 5-7 days or so until the problem is gone! :)
@patriciamorrow8932
@patriciamorrow8932 8 лет назад
Just wondering if tossing in a piece of orange or lemon peel would deter gnats?? Just an idea.

Is there a part two?
@gardenanswer
@gardenanswer 8 лет назад
+Susan Bismack There was, but we deleted it! I used to put layers or gravel on the bottom of non-draining containers and that's what I did in part 2, but have since learned that layers of gravel are not good! :) I use straight soil and no fillers in containers now and my plants do so much better! I'm always learning something new! :)
