Played rugby for Ft Bragg against the Marines at Cherry Point, and this same thing happened in the middle of play. Both sides stopped. The civilian referee had no clue what was going on. Long standing traditions of respect.
@Puckman637 As a civilian visitor I have encountered one base with retreat at 5pm. The other was literally adjusted daily to sunset. Even off base, when I hear the bugle call I stop, face a flag if present and stand in silent respect.
I was a college soccer player and at the time, my team played in the same conference as Army did (the MAAC at the time) and when we played them at West Point, we were told that at some point during the game, the cannon will go off and there will be the retreat of the flag which happens at days end. They told us that we were to stand still in our place and the Army players will stand at attention as the flag comes down, its an absolute beautiful tradition and one that was an honor to be a part of.
Just the average day on a military base. Every soldier knows to stand at attention and officers salute the flag because It's beaten into you on the first day of basic training
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the politicians of America. And to the oligarchy for which they stand one world, under the anti-Christ.... with tyranny, and oppression for all.
Of course not, patriotism is something we cherish and many have suffered & died proving theirs. NFL is a money grubbing enterprise, nothing else, not even that athletic and certainly devoid of morals.
Reminds me of years ago, I saw 2 Marines at the barracks in Lejeune having an actual fight in the evening. Screaming, cussing, throwing hands, but colors played and they pushed eachother off and stood at attention. Afterwards they just exchanged a few F!@# You's and went on their way.
If you are a civilian and understand AND respect the customs and courtesies, you stop what you are doing, face the flag and wait until Carry On is sounded. . .
@@slejandroaanchez2071 I do agree but the anthem was written when fort mcHenry was being attacked for 25 hours and the flag still was up... In case you didnt know when the flag is raised it is under control of whoevers flag it is... The real American spirit was fighting not the government/ corporations illuminati or whatever you want to call it.... The American spirit that is inside the American not the corrupt people who want to destroy this country
@@slejandroaanchez2071 So, you're blatantly chosing ignorance, because you're lazy, and then blame others for lying. I can't tell if you're being ironic or a hypocrite.
Makes me happy to see these young men honoring our flag. I salute them. Meanwhile in the NFL those spoiled men who have everything are kneeling and disrespecting our anthem and flag in the comforts of their home.
These blokes are at a military academy, so they stand at attention when the flag goes up and down, it's part of it. The NFL kneeling is a protest (that thing they have a fucking right to do, remember) and they are not required to stand at attention, because forcing civilians to do that would be totalitarian and something these blokes would want to go and kick the shit out of.
Just because you have the right, doesn't mean it's right. KKK members have a right to rally in Charlottsville. Why do democrats try to stop their RIGHT? Because it isn't right. You my friend are very shallow and near sighted.
Just because you disapprove of the message does not mean they do not have the right to deliver that message. These young men protect the constitution of the United States of America selflessly and should be lauded for their efforts. The players in the NFL are using their freedom of speech that is outlined in the constitution in the form of a peaceful protest. One has absolutely nothing to do with the other and to boil it down to a simple us vs. them besmirches the actions of BOTH sides. Evelyn Beatrice Hall once said "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it." Why cant we just leave it at that.
Protesting the American national anthem at a NFL game is wrong. And also illegal. It's not enforced. But going against the Constitution and bill of rights Is against the law. Only thing higher is God.
You don’t need a cover to render a salute. If you’re active duty or a vet, you can render a salute in civilian clothes with or without a cover. At least for the Air Force.
If you're a civilian you don't have to stand up, stop walking, or do jack diddly schitt at the sound of reveille or retreat. Irritates me that people think they have to do this.
@Puckman637 - You don't know what you're talking about. For one thing, LEMMINGS only stop walking at the sound of retreat because they think that's what the other lemmings want them to do. The fact is that if they, ALL lemmings, have the chance to run into a building and hide, then that's their first course of action. Even active duty soldiers do this. In other words, everyone says it's the right thing to do, but they'll ALL avoid it whenever possible. It's the epitome of hypocrisy. The only time someone touts "Patriotism" is when they're trying to GUILT someone into stopping, much like what YOU'RE trying to do right now. That schitt doesn't work on a free-thinking individual, so save it for your fellow lemmings.
