As humdrum as it may be this border is an example to the world of what a peaceful border can be. No walls, no fences, no guards...just people on bicycles or walking their dogs.
Thanks for posting the videos of your trek down Heelweg. My father's line lived in Dinxperlo, De Heurne, Anholt, Bocholt, etc for about as far back as I can go. They attended mass at St. Michael Church, about 4:34 into Part 2 of your videos. Did you start Part 1 right around that area? Did you enjoy the area? What else did you visit? I live in Northwest Ohio, where most emigrants from this area ended up in the mid-1800's. If you could contact me, I have lots of questions for you as I plan to visit there.
