The story has many deep characters 1. Caesar father- solo back story panalam, he's the one who hears horses in one scene. He was acclaimed to be the greatest hunter of that time. 2. Satani- masked guy, repeatedly talks about a elephant(Valuvan I think), elephant with a scar. Their duo itself is a separate story 3. How can we forget Ilavarasu~ My Boi🔥✌🏻.... Sense of loyalty throughout the movie. Ippidi sollokite pogalam- This is a masterpiece in making and story telling🙏🙏

what I really liked & noticed in the climax portion is : When the Cops are shooting the tribal people, we can hear only the sound of film rolling in the camera (i.e., the camera shooting sound) and not the actual gun shooting sound...

The fact i loved how the sethukali was a woman whose statue was erected after her sacrifice ,similiar you can see the cowboy lawrence miniature down the statue with people and elephants was amazing ,like gods werent super powered otherworldly things rather the people who lived among us who sacrificed and gained respect ,two cents from an athiest

It's basically a practice followed in Tamil culture when Asivagam was the practiced. After the 14th century Asivagam was not practiced. People started following Hinduism but many practices like worshipping a woman who sacrificed her life for the village still exist even today. Such women will be worshiped as oor kaval deivam. There's plenty of research information on Asivagam on RU-vid, if anyone is interested.

@@FL-GOP claims of asivagam is based on any solid evidence. I know it goes around in Tamil RU-vid but there is no solid evidence to support claims of relics/history of asivagam.

Haven't seen the post-release interview yet. Completely agree that it was a beautiful film. I didn't notice some layers or touches until you pointed it out here, and I've watched it twice already. Always feels happy to see a film that intrigues your curiosity on every watch and everything you read/see about it. - When Allius chooses Ray Dasan as the director, Ray takes a pause and plays the mouth organ for a while. I saw the interview where Karthick Subburaj said S J Suriya hesitated for 3 days when he first narrated it to him. Maybe the pause of Ray Dasan is a subtle link to Sj Suriya hesitating in real life? - There are lot of beautiful moments in the movie, but the minor moments which irked me was the scene when Jeyakodi is crying in front of his vanity mirror and the conversation that follows. Though both actors have acted well in their scenes throughout the film, that particular scene felt amateurish in terms of dialogue delivery. (or a dubbing sync issue for Jeyakodi which didn't match his facial expressions) - Another minor irk was SJ Suriya realizing that the first `Start camera action` did something to him. It does make sense by the end of the movie, but felt like it lacked enough reasoning to make him feel that way at his first shot itself.

I was expecting the movie that Ray was making is independent of the film we watch...like in Jigarthanda... But when he starts taking an auto biography things became very interesting...the moment Ray rewrite his life for the film , i sensed something big. In the end when the film was staged at the theatre and i felt myself in the theatre. The line between my theatre and jigarthanda club theatre shattered and made it more closer to the film and the people. This film is a magic when seen on theatres... Kudos Karthik,

Wow, I never thought you would reference Red Dead Redemption. It is nice to see to you mention an example from the most debatably controversial form of art, "gaming". I never watched any Clint Eastwood's movies, but after playing RDR2 and understanding the life of outlaws and ranchers, I am intrigued to see his movies. Can't wait to see, Double X.

Exactly. Being an avid fan of Red Dead Redemption, I was exhilarated by how much influence it had on this film. The life of outlaws is always intriguing and the game managed to showcase an entire history in such a breathtaking fashion. Likewise, this film also manages to stroll through different tangents and boundaries to showcase their lifestyle and deep rooted culture. I wish if any of the interviewer could ever ask him about RDR2 or Arthur Morgan. It’s a masterpiece.

Yes. There are very few games that transcends, RDR2 has low to no competitors in that case. It set a standard for me and all of the other games felt like “games” to me after I completed it. I can write a book about RDR and Arthur Morgan, but it might be too personal :)

Huge Karthik Subbaraj fan, loved the movie. If nitpicking, the only scene that felt out of place was when Ray Dasan survives and there’s a shootout in the theater, the fact that he carries the same gun skills as Allius and takes down a cop in a face off. Everything else worked for me except for that one cinematic high. What did you think?
@aerontehan6939
@aerontehan6939 8 месяцев назад
Ray dasan was almost a police officer and he has got training before this. There’s a reason he was selected for the police force, maybe that explains the gun skills.

I loved, both the character's wants and need . in a way establishing a Alliyan Caesar's want is to become hero in film but ended up as a leader of tribal and Kirubakaran/Ray Dasan's want is to be police but ended as a flimaker by directing kaatubarani (Alliyan Caesar's biography) . And, Most emotional connect for me as a film enthusiastic was cinema changes both of them. when i saw these two character's want changes because of cinema, I felt so relatable as an audience because it also changed me a lot as them.

Cinema is an art form for some, entertainment for others, and for some, cinema is political. Many of these films and their creators play a vital role in the perspectives from which their movies are told. "Jigarthanda DoubleX" is a film that speaks on behalf of the indigenous people, portraying their rights being taken away by the government with the help of local police for their own profit. Director Karthik Subraj chose to set the timeline of the film in the 1970s, paying homage to Western films, especially those starring Clint Eastwood. Most Western films depicted indigenous people as barbaric and inhumane, and the heroes of these Western films were always on the side of the sheriff (government). Karthik Subraj cleverly flipped this, where in the end, the hero was on the side of the indigenous people, not just because he was one of them, but also because the character played by SJ Surya ended up on their side. Here, the director plays a crucial role in choosing to portray the oppressed's side and fighting for their rights, while most of his colleagues like Logesh Kanagaraj or Nelson, and especially GVM, chose the government's side because their heroes always embodied Hollywood machismo, inspired by the likes of Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Chuck Norris, Bruce Willis, Steven Seagal, etc. However, Clint Eastwood, a Hollywood macho himself, often picked the government's side in most of his films. Alliyus Caesar, the biggest fanboy of Clint Eastwood, ultimately chose the side of his people, standing against the government and its oppression. This showcases the political knowledge and understanding of Karthik Subraj. I am very excited for the third part.

I don’t go watch a film to appreciate nuances, the story should be engaging, it should not digress or confuse the audience. Nuances or quirkiness should be subtle, one doesn’t make film with that as main objective. I loved Jigarthanda 1. This didn’t work for me. The screenplay was a drag, it digressed big time and started boring. Was waiting for the film to get over. What didn’t work for me: 1. The naivety of Alius Caesar who’s smart enough to suspect oldie’s death, smart enough to find the other two intruders and eliminate them but falls for SJS’s suggestion to go to the tribe to finish the elephant slayer. 2. That media can be completely bought and is absolutely powerless. But such reviews makes me believe in that. 3. That he ( Ceaser) actually believes that a film can be taken with such an outdated handycam and we audience also have to believe that such raw footage can be edited and compiled into a film that can be projected on a big screen. What happened to censor. KS can’t expect his audience to be such fools. 4. Mind you ceaser is the blue eyed boy of Elavarasan, having known the involvement of the CM his first reach out would have been to him. But he decides to drum his way to glorious death, why,? To garner sympathy from audience? 5. The bad cop’s already hand in glove why would he escalate to CM? Why would the CM come there in person? Why would they invite press to a forest to cover their most clandestine operation. All it takes for him is to summon his firing squad and finish off ceaser right there. I can keep adding on and on but with all these loopholes in the writing, when I sat down in my seat after the interval break, I thought I had by mistake gone into a different screen. I’m surprise that you are all praise for KS. Can’t buy this. Sorry

@@DrShivPOV my understanding is simple : if an expert, critic or the film director has to explain the film to the public, the film is a failure. That should not be the main discussion point.
