I had to stop and think at a few spots, no problem. After watching the tutorial I realized that I could have done it a lot faster with the ur logic in box 9, as the saying goes you learn as you go. I had a giant mug of morning coffee that went cold as I was sudokuing (a new word I've just invented ), anyways, I had a lot of fun. Thank you Harold!

You brilliantly found the 36 bi-value cell in r7c9 early at minute 5. I was more simplistic at that stage and was placing the 4 in r5c6, row 5 being 36 pairs in block 6; 79 in c1 and c4. With that, I progressed to the point where row 7 had 36 twins in c3/c9. Less counting satisfies my propensity for laziness. :) The next crucial step with the make-up of row 5 settled was to find the naked 3 in r3c2, which resolves blocks 4 and 5 easily. After that, just a bit a patiently working around the 36 pairs until they easily disambiguate themselves when you place a 1 in r8c6. Fun puzzle, thanks.

A good puzzle. A missing digit always adds a little suspense for a while (69 = 69 = row 6 column 6): 69, 65, 16, 25, 46, 61, 52, 18, 56, 72, 76, 32, 62, 54, 64, 45, 51, 41, 81, 94, 95, 85, 15, 77, 78, 37, 17, 33, 24, 98, 49, 48, 38, 89, 93, 13, 82, 92, 86, 96, 79, 58, 59, 27, 97, 73, 83, 31, 21, 34, 19, 29, 12, 14, 28, 91. There is an important caveat to the observation that no Sudoku can have two missing digits. It is true of all classic Sudoku grids, but is not necessarily true of many Sudoku variants, such as Antiknight Sudoku, in which the extra rules can allow two or more missing digits. Indeed, there are even variants, such as Box Killer, that can have _no_ givens at the start of the game. We must also be aware that appeals to uniqueness are not always valid in many variants.

Hi there Harold. It's always good to watch one of your videos and see how I'm doing these days. I use a lot of your techniques in my solving now, but I can honestly say I would NEVER have found the 136 & 36 in box 9 without writing in candidates. I'm actually curious to know how long it took you to notice that, and to find the 3 in box 1. I assume you go through the puzzle once before you make a video & take notes on how you solved it? If not you must be a genius! Best wishes to you 🤗

Hi Frances. I solve puzzles before I do videos on them. I take notes so that I stay on the same path when doing the video. I choose puzzles to do videos on based on my experience solving them. And some of them do take me a while before I break through hard spots - so I guess I'm more ordinary than genius. :-) I found the 36 in box 6, and then found the 136 and 36 in box 9 pretty quickly. But I don't always find them that quickly. Thanks for your questions.

I had fun with this although it wasn't a fast solution. At the point in the video after the 8 placements early on, I used two pointing pairs (or 'ghost numbers') to give me R5C6. I found what I think was the first 3 in block 1, and whether I needed it or not, I used UR to give me R7C8.
