Sue is a legend and what brought me to watch this interview…which is an outstanding interview; it takes both the interviewer and interviewee to make it engaging. Not sure where I’ve been, but this is the first time I have seen a Taylor Rooks interview….she is a fabulous!!! I will definitely be looking up other interviews she has done.
Very good interview! Sue....forever a Uconn icon!! Enjoyed the Paige observations. Paige is in the rarest category of exceptional athletes. She starts at a performance baseline of phenomenal, then actually improves as the pressure increases. God gave that gift to precious few. D.T. for one. Sue....very close.
I was gonna say, i was skeptical of this interview because it's BR and i feel like most of the BR content is rushed (no offense BR people) but damn was this an amazing interview. Credit to Taylor cause she does a fantastic job and Sue for always being a great interview giving fantastic answers
“Sports are the reward of a functioning society” I’m a basketball junkie and LOVE the W and NBA so KEEP GOING! Great content need more (Elena delle Donne?? 👀 ) - also can’t stress enough as an aspiring media member how well Taylor Rooks did making this interview more than being a woman in sport // wnba
Man i love Sue Birds soul. One of those ppl you look at like man we would be dope friends 😂😂 but just getting that look into her as a person is so dope. Well done Tay Rooks
Hey, I know it may seem hard , you might not be where you want to be…but I want you to stay focused, fall in love with the process, stay 10 toes down, keep your head up 🤴🏽👸🏽 . Your hard work WILL pay off 💰💗!
Sue Bird...not just biased because I live in CT. You are great. 11 championships, 14 trips to the final four in a row, the winning percentages..."It's the PROGRAM" that all of OTHER WBB programs are starting to emulate/imitate what Geno has built. You know, you know. Thank you Taylor for having this conversation.
RE: team selection: Every "all-star" selection, for any sport, male & female, will always have controversy. There are too many super players - almost all of them with big egos - and too few spots for it not to generate controversy. Thats' why, particularly in basketball regular league teams, can't have 5 superstars on the team. Then take at least 50 top players to a training camp and leave with only 12 spots - there will be unhappy people - all the 'reasons' why they weren't selected. How different it is to, for example select an Olympic swimming team. Get everyone together, the gun goes off, the top 2 finishers are on the team. That's it. Perform or go home. There's no "the coach doesn't like me", "there is a UCONN bias", "I'm too outspoken", etc. etc. Sometimes life things don't go your way. You don't win every "game."
Well, Well...It is the **** Seattle Storm's Super Sonic Sue Bird!!! I Glad that you are doing this interview because I am being remind and re-enforced who you are and how comfortable you are talking on the Camera.... Thank You... You are doing the Nation a Big Favor being you.... with most the college Grads being Women and more women being born now it is Truly Women's Time... Sorry to have say this way... it is now, is it.... We face a different world and the fact that we as men have realize late in the Evolution of HOMO SAPIEN that blah blah we have made a mistake placing the other gender on a no touch to Fragile or Subservient Pedestal.............Your legacy: You make sure the Ladies League Succeed then there is an expansion to more teams, so many more ladies coming up with skills have a chance!!! Your best move is all yours only... the dribble up the court then the hop or gallop changes, you, the person on the court and the opponent's response to it!!!!!!!!!! I Will be watching, ⛹♀⛹♀😍😍⛹♀⛹♀😍😍⛹♀⛹♀😍😍⛹♀⛹♀😍😍⛹♀⛹♀😍😍⛹♀⛹♀😍😍⛹♀⛹♀😍😍⛹♀⛹♀😍😍⛹♀⛹♀😍😍⛹♀⛹♀😍😍EARNESTLY!!!!!!
It is FASCINATING that Tom Brady also retired and unretired the same year and that he ALSO only wins on EVEN years. Wondering if that means that the extra games of the championship affect the next season somehow?
Incredible interview. Both did a great job. Good to see the respect from the NBA to the WNBA. It was an hour 20 minutes, but it didn't feel that long. Very engaging. Fun time.
People who claim UConn Bias is jealous and wish they had the success they did. It’s the way it works in Sports. When your are such a dominant you will get more coverage and attention because you deserve it.
@@adiracquetball Sue Bird endorses cars, sneakers, beer, fast food, you name the product she’s on tv selling it, her marriage to Rapinoe hasn’t prevented that.
@@ObamaFromKenya with the moniker Barry Obama I'd expect you wouldn't get it. If she was a dude she wouldn't be with Rapinhole cuz Rapinhole don't like dudes even though she acts and dresses like one. She also kind of slams the kiddie pool idea when as you explained she's all over the place hawking major product. Look she's lucky the NBA floats the WNBA or that league wouldn't be around. So the big pool is essentially carrying the little pool. I loved watching her play at UConn but they were the only reason I watched any women's hoop. That guy created an unbelievable dynasty in east no where Ct. One of the greatest coaches ever at any level. They came in and ran over the great dynasty that Pat Summet built at Tennessee at a school that was never noted for any athletic accomplishments.
Remember God loves you♥️. John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life. If you trust in Jesus Christ and repent, you will be saved. He is coming back soon😊.....
What a disappointing answer on the questions about USA basketball and media bias. It's easy for her to believe that the system is fair when she has always personally benefited from it. And yes, the women's game overall needs more coverage, but when a disproportionate amount of coverage consistently goes to one program and certain types of (mostly white) players, it's a problem, and that has to be acknowledged unequivocally.
Coverage lags behind the success. Before it was UConn it was Tenn. The next juggernaut is South Carolina. They will get the attention when they string a few championships together.
@@pcrathke UConn hasn't won a championship since Stewie graduated. Their media attention is about way more than success and we would be incredibly naive to pretend otherwise.
@@pcrathke that 2001-2002 UCONN team was imo the best and yes I know there have been longer undefeated streaks by UCONN but when you look at the squad they had, that’s the one where Pat Summit said she was going to UCONN graduation to make sure the players weren’t coming back
Stop it. She even answered that question in the most humble , polite manner possible for a woman of HER success.... Her answer really should have been. "I'm sorry everybody, but i'm Sue motherf*cking Bird! I have 4 rings, the most assists in WNBA history , won 2 NATYs in College and i'm 40+ still busting ass in the league, so if there is any bias, that is legend bias, which i deserve to get" But she didn't, she humble And by the way, same goes for Diana Taurasis, Maya Moore and even Breanna Stewart.
I think the LeBron example is excellent. In football, I have watched Tom Brady for 22 years and look for interviews with him every single day. But know that bugs the crap out of even his own teammates. Well, I also went to UConn the year that Geno came and I have so much UConn bias, but I would also say, the women in the Olympics gets so little coverage even when they are breaking records. If they didn't have the absolute most famous and most covered people, they might literally get zero coverage. I say that honestly as someone who had to watch their games on the internet because the coverage didn't even show them in replay or even talk about them at all. I seriously searched for them in some of these Olympics and even with Diana being such a loud person, they got no coverage at all sometimes.
