Sue Foley - Live at the Levitt Pavilion! Thanks to our sponsors at Baylor Scott & White Orthopedic & Spine Hospital Arlington & Frost Bank! Text "FREEMUSIC" to 44321 to donate to the Levitt.
Sue is finally getting the recognition she deserves. In an age of effects pedals, she plays a straight Tele, making every note count and showing one of the strongest left hand attacks I have seen. She also sings in her own voice and makes the most of it.
Love Sue Foley. Weird comment on effects pedals, though; as if somehow they’re a cheat to “making every note count.” They’re a tone choice, not a short cut to technique, feel, or phrasing. Preferring straight to amp is cool, but equating a choice to incorporate pedals as inferior is shallow. Ever heard of Hendrix? And by the way, sometimes she uses a tremolo effect.
I’m an old 76 year old picker and I just discovered Sue and in my opinion with no offense meant to the other young lady blues players I have listened to, Miss Foley puts the others to shame with her style, voice and prowess on the guitar…excellent!😎🎸🎶
Sue is brilliant, but have you listened to and seen Samantha Fish? If you're talking about style, voice and prowess on guitar, she is incomparable! She also displays a stage presence second to none. In my opinion Samantha's best performances were between 2014 and 2017, (25 to 28 years old), when her band consisted of only herself, a bassist and drummer. If you're not familiar with her, I'll be happy to provide links to some of her performances.
Little did Fender know Ms. Sue Foley would take the pink paisley telecaster for her very own. Really looking forward to seeing her live again. She does it the way I like every chord.
@@musicman4635 OK good thanks - I may have heard that somewhere before, maybe at a show of hers, yet us old electric guitar players don't always hear so good...

Love it thank you lady Sue you play the way i do Charlie from Pasadena get down Texas thank you for playing the way you do. I play the same as you do love it thank you for doing what you do
Sue needed a good engineer in this performance. Seems to be a brain-dead audience and an 'undynamic' theatre setting, so she's facing a challenge. I think it's a great performance, given the flat microphone dynamic here, little if any reverb on her youthful vocals. Her twin amp setup is full and the tele has plenty of punch. A keyboard would fill in nicely but I like her sharp Texas blues attack, a bit raw and unvarnished--as it should be. The bass and drums are adequate but no surprises, unchanging, no runs on the bass, but solid, good, urgent drums. I have great respect for any artist who's faced with either a small audience or one that just doesn't have much enthusiasm, as this one sounds to lack. .
