In celebration of the 25 year anniversary of “Pierced From Within” I wanted to do a cover of one of the best death metal songs in my opinion, track 3 : “Depths of Depravity”. This song has some of the best two guitar work in all of death metal (IMO), and it was quite the challenge to attempt to one take this mother fucker. I wanted to do a cover of both guitars, but that will have to be for another day. This albums needs no introduction nor back story, it is the standard for death metal in my opinion. After many, many attempts I came to realize that this song is nearly impossible to nail down in one take hence the many mistakes throughout. Note-@4:22-4:25 and 4:39-4:42 I fucked up by playing two groupings of palm mute chords up one semitone/fret than I should of…wish I saw / noticed that… but I must be tone deaf haha.This was the take I liked the most, and excuse the funny faces of me wording the lyrics hahah. I'd feel funny if I didn't headbang some of this stuff cuz it's been such an influence to me that I don't care if it looks funny for me to headbang in my living room. This is hands down the most challenging song I’ve ever tried to play with respect to the crazy amounts of subtleties and endless non repeating transition notation riddled throughout this 5 minute track. I did my best to do this song justice. Shits crazier than almost everything that’s come out after it to the present day.
