Hands down my favorite album by them, Doug Cerrito never got much credit for the tunes he put together. That album was a real group effort, so technical and brutal. I loved getting all high and putting that album on and reading along. The riffs back up the lyrics amazingly well, the shit still puts pictures in my head.
It's one of those riffs inspired by Slayer that only Suffocation has the secret, personnally, it's my favourite one with the ending of As Grace Descends
@@TiredBoiPlayingGuitari noticed they have quite a bit of slayer influence in their music. Even in some of the slower sections you can hear some slayer like chord progressions.
@buddhabilla Agreed... This song has always been one of my favourites too, and as an guitar player Im really glad to be able to see how Terrance plays this, that man is an absolute guitar monster!
@D6MO8YR87CE youre damn right!!!!i remember the day "souls to deny" came out!! i missed all the insane riffs and great songs of Doug on that album!!!for me suffocation is human waste,effigy.....,breeding..... and DESPISE THE FUCKIN SUN!!!!!! I am wondering what he is doing right know!!! I know that he left suffocation for his own business!!!bla bla..... Bring DOUG CERRITO back!!!!!!!!Goddamnnnnnn
@metagore08 Agreed! Pierced From Within ranks right up there with Death-'Human' and Deicide 'Once Upon The Cross' on the list of absolutely perfect death metal albums. It is indeed their masterpiece, not a note or a blast out of place.
Try mid-era Cryptopsy (Whisper Supremacy through Once Was Not). None So Vile was great, but Whisper Supremacy was the first really technical and almost progressive record they put out. Everything about it is all-out. It doesn't surpass Suffocation IMO, but it's still amazing, Mike DiSalvo's performance on WS is amazing too, if you're okay with a different style.
