I love how the audience doesn’t sing along and shout. They just absorb the music and applaud without screaming. Not to say that’s inappropriate for some genres or concert settings but the dynamic is very refreshing here.
I've seen lately people complaining that lorde asked for silence when she was performing Writer In The Dark acapella. Everyone was saying that it was stupid because in concerts you sing and shout
@@habersimemuero9127 yeah I get both sides of that argument, for me it just depends on the kind of show or the song sometimes. I just think the beautiful thing about the audience in this video is that Sufjan never requested the audience’s silence, as far as I know. Everyone just collectively decided to take it in
@@habersimemuero9127 Right? I mean, I totally get wanting to sing along to your favorite songs, (believe me, car ride karaoke is my favorite), but the sense of entitlement far too many fans have is just crazy. And it's just rude to other people who paid to listen to the performance, not theirs. For that very reason I will probably never go to any of Lana del Rey's concerts, even though she's my favorite artist, because her fans are notorious for singing along, ver loudly and very off-key 😭😅 Like, come on guys; there's a time and place for that.
I could never sing this song without breaking into sobbing. Esp the part "i wanna save you from your sorrows." But all the lyrics hit like a ton of bricks on my soul😢.
In my English composition class, I have been writing discourse on Sufjan Stevens over the past few months. As part of my praxis, I chronicle the trajectory of Carrie & Lowell's origins through concert. Stevens has taken deliberate steps to push the evolution of his songs in a live setting (both symbolically and aesthetically). I have been consistently watching your videos because of their visual quality and pristine sound. Thank you for capturing the essence of Stevens' live aesthetic as it translates from the studio to the stage.
Ian T that question was very clearly for kevin joacken, so why are you answering it? your name is Ian, not kevin joecken, so I'm confused. please help me understand why you're answering for him 10 months after i made the initial question PS: check out all the thumbs up my comment got... over 30. nice... let's take it to 40 guys
This was very beautifully elucidated, Chris. I'd be really interested in reading what you've written about the album and him, good journalism about Sufjan is few and far apart!
probably top concert of all time because in my opinion will be his best live concert and I missed it :( Carrie and Lowell best album ever too. His masterpiece
Love forever A.
