I feel like 'Girls' suffered from the 'Boots Advert' affect, so releasing it was a mistake - especially when they seemed a bit lost as a band and needed to come back with something strong and identifiably 'Sugababes', and when Catfights is quite a strong album that could probably have done better overall
1. Easy 2. Denial 3. Too Lost In You 4. Change 5. Flowers 6. Flatline 7. Red Dress 8. Hole In The Head 9. Push The Button 10. About You Now 11. Overload 12. No Can Do 13. In The Middle 14. Freak Like Me 15. Caught In A Moment 16. Round Round 17. Stronger 18. New Year 19. Run For Cover 20. Angels With Dirty Faces 21. Follow Me Home 22. Shape 23. About A Girl 24. Wear My Kiss 25. Ugly 26. Soul Sound 27. Get Sexy 28. Walk This Way 29. Girls
I don’t know why seeing stronger at No1 made me cry. It such a powerful song and as soon as I saw it I kept pointing at the screen in agreement… your work is phenomenal and I watch every episode
My top 10 would be 1. Too Lost In You 2. Stronger 3. Hole In The Head 4. Round Round 5. Freak Like Me 6. Flatline 7. Push The Button 8. About You Now 9. Caught In A Moment 10. Easy My 10 songs that should have been singles (no order) 1. Never Gonna Dance Again 2. My Love Is Pink 3. Side Chick 4. No More You 5. Ace Reject 6. Conversations Over 7. Summer of 99 8. Only You 9. Back To Life 10. No Regrets/ I’m Alright (double A side)
I never got all the fuss about Ace Reject tbh, I find it incredibly boring 😅... But I totally agree on Never Gonna Dance Again. This just feels like a very big missed opportunity. But I overall feel like they constantly made the wrong choices for singles with 3.0 (Follow Me Home instead of Gotta Be You, Change instead of NGDA and both singles from Catfights... Or at least You On A Good Day, Every Heart Broken, Unbreakable Heart instead of No Can Do...)
@@maritta2504idk why they didn’t stick with the original single rollout plan for Taller but swap Follow Me Home for Red Dress and keep Gotta Be You as the summer single? The label really started to give up on them after Mutya left.
Flatline IS the best sugababes song ever, the production is gorgeous and sonically it’s the song that I’ve noticed have caught my non sugababe fan friends attention.
I wouldn’t say the best but Flatline is up there as one of them. That vocal harmony riding that production was a fantastic summer song. Seeing the impossible happen in the music video, 3 childhood band members reunite and smile, was an emotional moment for me.
8:58 Red Dress is as close to a perfect pop song as I've ever heard. As you said, it has two choruses, and they're both amazing. Amelle sounds great, and when those stomping trumpets kick in, watch out.
Yes, I much preferred Amelle's voice on Red Dress as her tone fits this style of pop. Red Dress is definitely one of my favorite Sugababes singles, it's tongue in cheek!
I totally agree that Stronger is the real number one. It is my favorite song ever made. And I agree with you that it is so difficult to make a decision, since all their work is so good... My top 5 is: (1) Stronger, (2) Change, (3) Run For Cover, (4) Round Round and (5) Too Lost In You... with the last two making a close call to (6) Red Dress, (7) Shape and (8) Follow Me Home. My favorite album for me is quite clear Angels With Dirty Face, followed by Three and Taller In More Ways.
My Top 10: 1. Round Round 2. Stronger 3. Push The Button 4. Ugly 5. Change 6. About You Now 7. Too Lost In You 8. Red Dress 9. Freak Like Me 10. Hole In The Head
Another great video. Thank you. In total agreement with your choices. Stronger is also my ultimate Sugababes track. I’ve always felt that ‘Babes album tracks are what sets them apart from other girlbands. With the singles being the most commercial, for obvious reasons. Never Gonna Dance Again should have been the 2nd single, and I think Denial would also have fairer better as the 3rd single. And a 4th should have been Mended By You.
It's hard for me to make a ranking, because every song has a memory of it's own. but when I look at what I love to listen to most it's 1 Run for Cover 2 Hole in the Head 3 Round Round 4 Flatline 5 Easy I do love the ballads a lot, but some of the more popular songs like Push The Button and especially About You Now felt overproduced, too forced and I didn't care for them. Though. like with many artists, the singles weren't always my favorites. I wasn't a huge fan of Amelle's nasal sound, and don't see Sweet 7 really as a SB album really but when Amelle joined, so did Now You're Gone and that's one of my fave SB songs of all time.
I think I need to listen to all the singles again before I would be able to rank them. In The Middle would probably be in my top 10 because it was the first Sugababes music video I saw when I went to the UK when I was younger. I had to pick up the album it was on!
-The masterpieces: 01.Push the Button 02.Freak 03.Round Round 04.Too Lost in You 05.Overload 06.Hole in the Head 07.Stronger 08.Flatline -The great ones: 09.In the Middle 10.About You Now 11.New Year 12.Red Dress 13.Ugly 14.Shape 15.Run for Cover 16.Soul Sound -The good ones: 17.Denial 18.Follow Me Home (this low bc I hate the single version) 19.Angels with Dirty Faces 20.Caught in a Moment 21.About a Girl (K version would rank higher for me) 22.Flowers (it's an okay song for me but I rank it this low cus they should be singing one of their own ones live instead of this one😂) 23.Change 24.Easy 25.Freedom -The dirge: 26.Girls 27.No Can Do 28.Get Sexy 29.Wear My Kiss 30.Walk this Way
Sugababes have a great back catalogue of songs some of the album tracks are better than the single releases Love Denial Follow me home Stronger and of course Round Round I miss Heidi I just think she brought a warmth to the group loved her vocals I do love Mutyas solo album tho take a listen excellent album 👍🏻🎧 ps love you're channel keeps me entertained to the max
too lost in you was released around xmas when there was christmas songs dominating the charts hence the no.10 peak, however it is one of their best selling singles! I actually agree with most of your ranking here. i do think change is a beautiful song though.
I find it really hard to rank my top 10 let alone all of them, so well done. I think Overload is my favourite, I can listen to it over and over again, same with Stronger and Flatline. After that it's hard to rank the rest. 10. Denial 9. Run for cover 8. Too Lost in You 7. About you now 6. Push the button 5. Round Round 4. Freak like me 3. Flatline 2. Stronger 1. Overload
Do you think you would ever do a video UK girl group The Saturdays??? (p.s love your videos you really take your time and pay attention and it definitely shows in the end.)
Heidi, Amelle and Jade were very The Saturdays in their line up. They should have dropped Sugababes as a name (too much history and disrespect to the originals) and they would have pulled it off.
Great video. So hard to make a ranking for this incredible catalogue, but my top 3 would be: 1. Flatline, 2. About You Now, 3. Freak Like Me. I wish Ace Reject had been a single, but I know the girls didn't actually like the song.
Enjoyed your perspective 😊 Agree that “ Whatever Makes You Happy” should have been a single… it will be interesting what they release from the Lost Tapes! What are your thoughts? 🤔
I don't think they will release anything from the Lost Tapes anymore. You can all stream it anyway, and it wouldn't make any difference. It's also way too late now imo, as people not only knew those Songs for 10 years, but were also able to stream them for 3 months now, if they haven't heard the songs ever before.
You nailed this, but I would have pushed ‘Follow’ up a bit further up your chart. My love is pink, and, Open the door, are album tracks I also liked. Keep up the amazing work!
Watching this video reiterates what I’ve always been saying: they should’ve stopped the Sugababes after Keisha was kicked out and formed a new group under a new name and style. I believe they would’ve been far more successful because sweet 7 is quite catchy and good it just pales in comparison to what we were expecting from the sound of the Sugababes. The latter members should’ve found their own lane and maybe they would still be relevant today as a group and not be in the weird position of not being able to sing songs that they wrote and sang.
Yeah I agree that Heidi, Amelle and Jade would have had a great chance of reinventing themselves by changing the name. But management thought the public were dumb. As if we wouldn’t notice that Keisha was brutally replaced after her service over the years. (What crack cocaine were they smoking????) Heidi, Amelle and Jade would have been a great alternative to The Saturdays, had they continued with a new name.
I think that the strongest songs of their discography is not put out as a singles… maybe the record label pushed the “more generic” songs… I don’t know. But they have a wonderful discography, one of the best for a girl group.
I am speechless. I am used to see list like this with my favorites usually falling at the bottom of the list, but I would have rank the singles the same way. I would only change Overload and Caught in a moment. But the rest is exactly how I would have ranked their singles. Stronger being my all-time favorite, I was more than happy to see it being your fave as well. Great list!
Follow me home is such a good song. But timing of its release as single was a big mistake. Ballad on summer? And they left the best track of the album, Gotta be u, in the dungeon.
I’m one of those weird Sugababes fans who prefers the songs that the majority of fans don’t really care for and prefer album tracks over the hits. According to my iTunes (cos I’m not a Spotify person) these are my Top 5 Sugababes played songs. 1. Wear My Kiss 2. Never Gonna Dance Again 3. Get Sexy (Keisha version) 4. Freedom 5. Whatever Makes You Happy At the end of the day it’s all down to personal choice and is always interesting to hear what others prefer, with no criticism whatsoever. Fantastic video! Cheers for taking the time to make it… as well as the effort you put into all your videos. I’m definitely a fan (even though I rarely comment). Thankyou. 😃👍🏻
Such a great countdown and simplified video to watch. Always love sugababes stuff like this. Always shocked with 'too lost in you' low chart position but at least it scraped the top 10. However I think now it's one of there biggest selling singles 😁 at present. For me it's 1. Push the button, 2. Too lost in you, 3. Hole in the head 4. Round round 5. Run for cover. But I also appreciate flatline and freedom, tbf I like a lot of the songs 🤣. Great video
Absolutely wonderful ranking. Totally agree. Especially putting Stronger at n. 1 - such a powerful song. And Follow me home with Mutya is probably their most underrated, next to Denial. I love listening to it on spotify, but I always have to type in the complete title to find it bc the default setting is the poorer version with Amelle, boooh.
A great video, always love to see Sugababes content! I definitely agree with the lower part of your list, the singles from their last 2 albums before the hiatus were just not my cup of tea. My top 5 would be: 1. Round Round, 2. Hole in the Head, 3. Too Lost in You, 4. Push the Button, 5. Run for Cover or maybe Denial.
First of all, I absolutely love your entire Sugababes series (so insightful & I especially love the transitions from the music vids to live performances + you churned them all out so quickly!!!) THANK YOU from a huge fan. Sugababes are the best girl band from Britain period. Now for my Top 12 'Babes singles: 1. PUSH THE BUTTON 2. ABOUT YOU NOW 3. SUMMER OF '99* 4. ROUND ROUND 5. FLATLINE 6. UGLY 7. CAUGHT IN A MOMENT 8. OVERLOAD 9. SOUL SOUND 10. TOO LOST IN YOU 11. HOLE IN THE HEAD 12. DENIAL Push the Button is forever an absolute banger & still doesn't get tired after all these years. Was a massive #1 hit here in New Zealand too (deservedly so). If I were to introduce the group to someone who had never heard of them, I'd 100% play Push the Button as the quintessential Sugababes track. About You Now is so freaking catchy & I love the harmonies in the chorus repeats. I actually love the low-fi sound of the main beat...the thumping percussion on this track is ear candy! And as much as I'm most invested in Sugabes lineups #1 & #2, I couldn't hate on Amelle as they brought out such a bop with her! * I'm elevating Summer of '99 all the way up to number 3 as it's constantly on repeat for me & I'm claiming that it undoubtedly HAS to be one of their next singles. What a summer/throwback-vibes kind of anthem! Instant fave from The Lost Tapes 💯 The O.G. lineup returning with Flatline was so thrilling for O.G. fans like me. And the track is sooooo under-rated. It's one helluva vibe, including the video (which is one of my faves of theirs with Round Round probably my #1 vid). Ugly: I was surprised it wasn't written by them as the messages seemed so personal - either way, I think all little girls and boys (AND big girls and boys!) should blast this as an empowerment anthem, especially in this day and age. It's the best "comeback" someone can use with a positive spin - I'm teaching "If I'm ugly then so are you!" to my young nieces 😁 When they're not dishing out epic dance bangers, dark & moody ballads is their other signature sound. Caught in a Moment exemplifies this best with thoughtful lyrics and sweeping vocals (I've always thought of Too Lost in You, Run for Cover & this track as "triplets" which I love playing back-to-back). I reckon Caught in a Moment & Too Lost in You showcase Heidi's voice the best out of all their tracks & I love how each of their parts seemlessly flow into the others'. Soul Sound: I know that the girls didn't care for it but when I bought the CD way back in its release, it was my most-played track. I AM a sucker for a really catchy pop melody afterall! Severely under-rated - I hope the girls themselves like it more now 😘 Special note: The original of Freak Like Me by Adina Howard was an enormous #1 hit in New Zealand not long before Sugababes came out with theirs. I was surprised it was re-made so quickly, thus the 'Babes version didn't make much of an impact on me (even though they did put a different spin on it). With SO many epic pop tunes from their discography this isn't one I seek out much.
Great video! Always love a good ranking and seeing other people's perspectives on artists who I love. I'd say my top 5 (in no particular order) are New Year, Too Lost In You, Ugly, About You Now and Flowers. My bottom 5 would look something like Easy, Follow Me Home, Wear My Kiss, Soul Sound and Walk This Way. If we're including Freedom I'd put it upper middle ranking for me. Here's hoping for new music soon!
Love your videos, and i have to agree.. Soul Sound is such a great song... it a real summer belter when your chilling in the sun. There is other songs I love "supetnatural" " My love is pink" " Never gonna dance again " "Sound of goodbye", "you on a good day". For me ; 1 . Too lost in you 2. Round Round 3. Run for Cover 4. Hole in the head 5. New Year 6. Soul Sound 7. About you now 8. About a girl - esp Keishas version 9. GIRLS - it a good version for me 10. Stronger
This was a brilliant video. I ranked mine in real time as I was watching this and it’s fairly similar (below). Stronger and Freak Like Me are absolutely divine songs! 1. Stronger 2. Freak Like Me 3. Round Round 4. Too Lost in You 5. Overload 6. New Year 7. Caught in a Moment 8. Push the Button 9. Shape 10. About a Girl 11. Hole in the Head 12. In the Middle 13. Run for Cover 14. Soul Sound 15. Flatline 16. Ugly 17. Flowers 18. Red Dress 19. About You Now 20. Change 21. Wear My Kiss 22. Get Sexy 23. Follow Me Home 24. Easy 25. Denial 26. Angels With Dirty Faces 27. Girls 28. No Can Do 29. Walk This Way
While there are other tracks on "Catfights" that would have been a great single, "No can do" would be in my top 5. "walk this way", "wear my kiss" and "Get Sexy" would be my least favourite. Thank you for your great videos!
Nice list. Too bad Freedom wasn't included. I prefer more of the uptempo songs ... 1. About You Now 2. Push The Button 3. Red Dress 4. Freak Like Me 5. About A Girl 6. Round Round 7. Wear My Kiss 8. Get Sexy 9. Freedom 10. Hole In The Head 11. Easy 12. Flowers 13. Denial 14. Overload 15. Caught In A Moment 16. Flatline 17. Too Lost In You 18. Ugly 19. Stronger 20. Shape 21. Girls 22. In The Middle 23. Follow Me Home 24. Soul Sound 25. Angels With Dirty Faces 26. No Can Do 27. Run For Cover 28. Change 29. New Year 30. Walk This Way
Some singles especially back before streaming and even downloads existed to sell the album. I always felt that way with the Stronger/AWDF double A side, they'd already had a 1-2 punch with Freak and Round Round going to number 1 and the label probably wanted to sell the album (£12.99 back then if I remember vs £3.99 for a single). You'll notice that after this was released the chart trajectory of the album went upwards and they were in the top 10 in the post Christmas period which back in the 90's/00's you could sell more albums being at number 10 over Christmas than you could all throughout the year even at number 2 (sometimes in total). Stronger was the album seller and AWDF being on the single was to remind of the albums name, which sounds obvious but seriously before social media you really did have to lead a horse to water! Similar thing happened with Three using Too Lost In You and Taller in More Ways using Ugly.
I'm surprised I don't see more people with Freak Like Me as their number 1...the video version ('We Don't Give A Damn Mix") is a masterpiece. One of my all time favorite songs. My top 3 is : 1) Freak Like Me (We Don't Give A Damn Mix) 2) Stronger 3) Hole in the head I could never get into the Sweet 7 singles, doesn't feel like Sugababes...maybe they would've worked better for The Saturdays.
I can't really put them into any kind of order. Just general groups. Except one. Get Sexy will always be without a doubt my least favourite single of them. So... *Absolut worst* Get Sexy *Don't like* Flowers Follow Me Home New Year Angels With Dirty Faces *Meh* Girls (I used to like it very much, but have gotten tired of it) No Can Do (has grown on me big time) Wear My Kiss Ugly (agree about all you said there) *Quite alright* About a Girl (favourite one from Sweet 7 overall...) Soul Sound Freedom Walk This Way 😄 Flatline About You Now Change Easy In The Middle *Fantastic* Run For Cover Overload Hole in the Head Stronger Caught in a Moment Red Dress (Mutya Version only though 😂) *Favourites* Freak Like Me Round Round (has been "moving up" due to me discovering the instrumental, it's such a tune!!!) Too Lost in You Denial Shape Push the Button
My ranking would be 1. Flatline 2. Stronger 3. Shape 4. Denial 5. Run For Cover 6. Soul Sound 7. Follow Me Home 8. Red Dress 9. Freak Like Me 10. Overload 11. Caught In A Moment 12. About A Girl 13. Ugly 14. Flowers 15. Change 16. No Can Do 17. Girls 18. New Year 19. In The Middle 20. Round Round 21. Hole In The Head 22. Freedom 23. Easy 24. Get Sexy 25. Angels With Dirty Faces 26. Too Lost In You 27. Walk This Way 28. Wear My Kiss 29. Push The Button 30. About You Now
Its weird with certain singles they released considering some songs on the albums they had. Not to mention some of the b-sides. "Who" and "Colder In The Rain" easily could have been singles in my opinion.
I really want to like Freak Like Me but it grows old so fast for me. *sigh* I’m ready for the tomatoes! Lol. Round Round, Flatline, and Too Lost In You are the best for me.
Sugababes will always be my favourite girl group. Interesting to see that you also think that Change and No Can Do weren't the best choice of a second single My favourite singles are Denial, Round Round, Too Lost In You, Red Dress, About you Now and Push the Button. Non-singles: Conversations Over, Ace Reject, Never gonna Dance Again, Every Heart Broken and Sound of Goodbye B-Sides: Disturbed, Colder in the Rain
Yay i somehow knew that stronger will be your number one. Just like mine. Jesus, i was listening to radio for hours just to hear this song and record it and was surprised why they dont play it anymore. What a waste of time. And at first i didnt know who sings it and thought its literally everyone. No can do is my last, super annoying, boring and based on 2 notes. Catflights and spotlights is their weakest album of all. Girls are annoying but enjoyable at least. I love side chick, unbreakable heart, murder one, sunday rain (probably my nimber one of that album, super James Bondish), sound of goodbye, can we call a truce. The rest is annoying. Bit yes, stronger is their number one forever
Huge sugababes fan and my ranking looks a lot different 😂 10. Round round 9. Change 8. Ugly 7. Wear my kiss 6. Push the button 5. Red dress 4. Denial 3. Easy 2. Get sexy 1. About you now Guess I prefer the "newer" songs (mainly the third lineup with Amelle)
Sugababes is that girl however sugababes 2.0 is the best reincarnation of the group. I do love Siobhan but Heidi always seem to give the group some warmth and oomph ..if you know what I mean.
Sorry, Amelle, but Sugababes never got to be the same after Mutya left. Even Mutya never got to be the same after Sugababes. What happened to her...????
I love your Chanel and an a die hard Sugababes fan (original 3 Mks ) xxxx this is amazing I’m glad push the button isn’t number 1 can’t bare it lol xxx You missed “ shape “too lol xxx sorry hahaha My top 5 5 Shape 4. Stronger 3. Overload 2. Flatline 1. Run for cover ( remixes) There new album has been on repeat with me I love “alright” I literally binged all of your Sugababe docs love it you’re amazing xxx
Oh, gosh, I agree on literally everything you have mentioned. Amazing ranking, my would be pretty much the same, except Too Lost In You (song that got me into the Babedom) is my number one and Follow Me Home probably number 2 (although, let’s all pretend it was released with Mutya) Looking forward to your other rankings. Perhaps, Kylie or All Saints?
