Welcome to Part 5 of our Oman Camping Road Trip series! In this episode we leave the north behind and start the long journey south, camping at the stunning Sugar Dunes, stopping off at beautiful beaches galore, and winding up at a lush wadi pool hidden beneath a travertine cliff face. It was amazing! Plan YOUR Oman adventure using our free guides and itineraries over on the blog > www.goingthewholehogg.com/destinations/middle-east/oman/ Thanks for watching! Kim & Del
Loved this episode too. Beautiful scenery in this part , especially the sugar dunes and the camels walking randomly in the middle of nowhere and the pool in the end. Honestly amazing job Kim& Del 👏👏
Happy to hear it Altin, thanks very much! The Sugar Dunes are truly amazing, and it’s so great to just stumble upon camels grazing in all sorts of locations. Thanks for the great feedback, we really appreciate it 😃
I'm so sorry that I can't click on your touching and impressive travel video many times at the same time since my fingers aren't the multiple feet of octopus.
Not a problem really, our vehicle could take 80 litres and otherwise we just planned in stops at petrol stations when needed. Oman has pretty good coverage for petrol stations… the only time we had an issue was around the Rub al Khali (Empty Quarter), where we had to fill up from a 20 litre jerrycan at a local, unofficial station.
Kim is always planning but in this instance we had a general idea of places we wanted to go and made it up as we went along, visiting places we’d been before but also trying to see as many new places as possible. The Oman Off-Road book we bought in 2018 was a big help and we used Google Maps on the go to find new places that looked good to camp. It is indeed beautiful Andrea, thank you so much 😃
You have proven that anyone can enjoy camping an exploring the nature with simple stuff .. I don't understand why people spend lots of money on preparing their overland cars ..
True, in a country like Oman where the weather is good and predictable, it’s easy to camp out of the back of a vehicle, enjoy being in nature, and do it cheaply too. In other situations and for longer term travel, we can see why people might want a bit more comfort and a place to retreat from the elements. Room for all approaches but it’s always good to stop and think first and not just spend money unnecessarily 🙂
