My dad was an amateur boxer back in the day. Ray Robinson to him was the best boxer he ever saw. Followed closely by Ali. He had high regard for Ray Leonard as well.

Both were great, Ali relied a lot on athleticism, but Robinson was the full package. Notice Robinson didn't acknowledge that they were the same, he just complimented Ali's speed. Leonard had a lot of the same attributes as Robinson but he didn't have the mean streak Robinson showed. Robinson was an amateur at featherweight, went up and put several undisputed middleweight champions to sleep. Robinson also had far more experience fighting far more styles than Leonard ever did.

@@ajhaynes8204 i think it was like 3-4 seconds but tbf, it was close range and although it wouldnt have been as powerful, he was throwing punches in bunches but with ali, u can see him keeping his distance while throwing the punches and so he was farther so they would take longer to land

Prime Ali had the best physique in boxing. Sure Tyson was a giant with those muscles at 18-19 years of age but Ali's physiques had both power, speed and unmatched agility. But then again, Tyson had incredible speed too. Amazing how these athletes had incredible builds in their prime.

Born in 1969 i missed early Ali fights. But at 3 yrs old i watched Ali fights with my dad. We yelled at the tv 😅 cheering Ali. I found myself doing the same with Tyson in my late teens early 20's. I wouldnt trade my generation for anything. GEN X 💪

Muhammad Ali is the greatest of all time. We have plenty of reasons for this. We're talking about a man who, during the golden age of boxing, defeated boxing legends like Sonny Liston, Joe Frazier, George Foreman, Lyle, and Earnie Shavers as if they were punching bags. Who else could talk as brilliantly before a fight as he could? He was something else. Ray's accomplishments in the middleweight division were exceptional, but Ali did the same in the heavyweight division. And this man was out of boxing for 4 years... yet he still knocked out Prime Foreman like a tree branch. Can you tell me whose fist can move as fast as 4% of a second? He did it in the heavyweight division, my friend. That's something very different. He was the best, he was powerful enough to wrestle an alligator and fast enough to trap lightning. Respect to the greatest in boxing...

Ali. How can u beat the fastest moving punching heavyweight with one of the best chins ever. Flawless style unbelievable confidence and ring iq and 100% gym dedication. Never be another one like him. Robinson best middleweight of all time. Boxing needs a real star. A real fighter who doesnt care about money as much as fighting. Now we have fighters who fight once a year

Yup. Jimmy Doyle. The night before the fight he had a nightmare that he knocked him out and killed him right in the ring, so he backed out of the fight. The commission had to get priest to convince him to go on with the fight, so he did. In the 8th round he countered Jimmy’s right hook with a strong left hook and knocked him out, and Jimmy would die later in the hospital. Turns out Jimmy Doyle was fighting to but his mom a house, so Robinson would take the earnings of his next couple of fights and gave them to Jimmy’s mom.

When Ali's license was unlawfully taken by the US Government, he was at the top of his game. At that point he was unbeaten and unbeatable in the ring. Three and a half yrs later the Supreme Court ruled in Ali's favor that he didn't have to go to 'Nam. That time out of the ring stole the Ali who could have been.
