Another good video. Bobby Please be aware that the two sugar substitutes that you recommend do have erythritol in them. As you know they are a sugar alcohol and can cause GI issues with some people. Do you recommend or know any pure monk fruit brands that have no other ingredients? Once again you're doing a great job!
Thanks for a great video. Just pointing out that your favorite monk fruit sweeteners are mostly erythritol. I recommend liquid stevia and monk fruit sweeteners for Keto friendly. Alot of baking recepies do well with erythritol. Also xylitol is toxic to dogs, so watch out for that. If Fido grabs a cookie that was made with Xylitol it could be very harmful. Thanks again. Love the channel.
Great video! There is a sweetener made by Whole Earth Sweetener Co that is stevia and monk fruit combined. On closer examination I read it has erythritol, fructose and chicory root in it too. What do you think?
@@josephrattien3176 hey buddy! yes, they have that bc they are a blend..str8 up monk fruit is way to sweet..bt you can easily find it online!! just cant use 1:1 ;)
I'm 65 years old and just learning about all this. I really thank you for your videos. It's making a difference in my life. I am not keto and not going keto, but am eating a lot better thanks to you. And learning all the time. Thank you!
I'm confused. Please answer. You say the best is MonkFruit but it's number one ingredient is Erythritol. You then say to stay away from Erythritol. So which is it? lol
@@noreenn6976 After spending 3 months healing my gut I tried the "alternative" sugar monk fruit, no matter what brand Lakanto encluded, it messed up with my gut. So when Bobby talked about how sugar feeds cancer/diabetes he's 100% correct. And I'm thankful he stated that. I'm staying away all together I love my healthy gut. No thank you any sugar event the fack stuff. :)
Fructose is poison in large quantities (to the liver). Sucrose is 50 pct fructose by weight. So for the NON DIABETIC any sweetener without fructose is preferable to a sweetener with fructose.
John Colby yes the body can’t really digest coconut palm sugar as many think they are good fructose does really turn your liver into fatty and causes issue with pancreas.
Most of us do not have a Whole Foods. To be frank, after they lied about promising to go GMO free, I wouldn't shop there if they paid me. Sellouts. Most of us cannot afford them either.
My wife has perfected a mixture of allulose and monk fruit. It's tricky to get the mix right, but she's nailed it. She even makes an icing for her lemon pound cake that is made with 100% allulose and 100% fresh squeezed meyer lemon juice. She makes one for family gatherings for me ( gluten free ) and it is gone inside of 10 minutes. Everyone loves it.
I’m not doing any special diet but I just love you & all the information you have taught me! I taught cooking classes when I was younger, milled my own wheat & made everything from scratch but this is a different era & there is so much to be careful about. Thank-you for educating us on so many products! I have changed many things in my diet & will continue to do so. Even at 66 we can improve our lives with our diets. Please do a “haul” of good & bad items to buy at Sam’s Club. I have loved all your grocery store hauls but several of the stores we don’t have out in Arizona. So I would appreciate your take on Sam’s Club. Oh, I also want to say I am going to order your cookbook. I have been trying many of your recipes and just love them! Thank-you again to you and your wife and friends for all your help!
I use pure Stevia for my keto mug cakes and monk fruit stevia blend in my coffee. Erythritol for actual baking. I've gotten used to it but it definitely starts to upset my stomach if taken too much.
High fructose corn syrup is probably the biggest trigger for my gout and it's in everything. I tried switching to diet drinks, but then I learned how bad aspartame is. So this video is very helpful, thank you.
Loved all this knowledge. So confusing to know what is okay and what to avoid . I've been staying away from granulated white sugar and using bananas instead for some of my baking. Thanks for explaining all these options 😊❤❤
The whole Erythritol answer brings his credibility to less than 10 out of 100. Eat a well balanced diet with good foods and get some exercise and sleep
I do a lot of diabetes education and have been researching a lot on Keto specifically on sweeteners. I didn’t hear Allulose mentioned. Allulose is a naturally occurring sugar found in fruits like figs, etc. The structure of Allulose resembles fructose but due to some slight differences Allulose is not utilized by the body and mostly excreted by the kidneys. It has no impact on blood sugars and some early studies have even shown a positive effect on blood glucose levels. Allulose has shown no impact on the gut biome unlike some other sweeteners so little if any negative GI effects. It’s not as sweet as sugar but it’s taste is pretty good no bitter aftertaste and definitely on the pleasant side;. It’s worth looking into.
I can’t believe le this I just got diagnosed with pre diabetes I quit sugar immediately but unhappy cuz everything tastes horrible without it anyway thanks for this info never even heard of it before
The Whole Earth brand packets are mostly erythritol with some chickory root. But no dextrose or dextrin. I use them in coffee. Appears that I have no or very little glycemic reaction.
very good video Bobby. Best advice, drink your coffee and tea without any sweetener. I stopped putting sugar in my coffee many, many years ago, don't miss it. Steer clear or limit anything with sugar in it. You won't get rid of it completely as there are lots of hidden sugar in day to day products.
I love your channel! I cannot say enough good things about it. I have recommended you to all my friends and family. Thank you for the excellent content 😊
Great video! I've also heard that there's a chemical process used to get the nectar from the agave plant that is not good, in addition to its higher glycemic index.
Sup Bobby! I'm surprised about your Swerve review. I love Swerve. I don't notice any aftertaste or cooling effect with it. I also use the stevia maple syrup on my pancakes and waffles. I guess it depends on your taste buds.
Erythritol all the way for me👍🏻I like the flavor and it doesn’t spike my blood sugar like other substitutes. There’s even a “brown sugar” erythritol that tastes great as well. It’s never caused me or my husband any digestion issues like the other sugar alcohols. Monkfruit and stevia would be a great choice if they weren’t so bitter. Edit: wrote my comment before I saw that you showed the Sukrin Gold. Seriously that stuff is worth the high price👍🏻
Agree with you Sally, have been using Erythritol for about 6 months now and its definitely the best .... I think its also personal choice - it does not leave any aftertaste to me and I am really sensitive to all the others from a taste point of view ...Go try Erythritol!
Excellent video Josh. Being diabetic, I've heard from dieticians that even though something is sugar free, the body recognizes the sweet flavor and things it's sugar. Can you speak to that? I was surprised to see you recommend honey, maple syrup and blackstrap molasses.....all of which I LOVE!!!!
Hey Bobby! First and foremost, CONGRATULATIONS!!!! To the additional member to your family. I have seen your video sharing your journey to get pregnant. It wasn't easy and a lot happen in between. I have been following your videos and delicious recipes. My fiance and I has been shedding weights for the pass 4 months since we started, and we are very grateful for the great improvements that we both have. However, I have reached my goal or weight class ideal for me and now I can't stop losing more if I want to...Do you have any suggestions what I should do to maintain it and not lose anymore weight? Thank you so much.
Thanks Bobby and Art! I really appreciate all of your reviews and recipes. Changing the way we view healthy eating which tastes awesome. Loved all but especially the ketchup and BBQ sauce. I hope everyone will appreciate the time and effort you three put into this and will at the very least purchase their cookbook to help sustain these great videos, recipes and their. Ew family! Cheers
My throat felt like it was swelling inside after having monk fruit/erythritol blend. I googled how it’s made and it’s got 3 things I don’t do well with. I copied and pasted off the page … “In large-scale production, erythritol is created when a type of yeast ferments glucose from corn or wheat starch. The final product looks like powdery white crystals.”
Ive recently come across Allulose in some videos. Would like to hear more on this. Originally the hierarchy of healthy alternatives was Stevia and Monkfruit at the top followed closely by Erythritol which is my personal favorite because its not bitter. However Allulose seems to be even better. Anyone have any input?
My wife has perfected a mixture of allulose and monk fruit. It's tricky to get the mix right, but she's nailed it. She even makes an icing for her lemon pound cake that is made with 100% allulose and 100% fresh squeezed meyer lemon juice. She makes one for family gatherings for me ( gluten free ) and it is gone inside of 10 minutes. Everyone loves it. She does a mix because the bulk of the allulose makes it a perfect substitute for baking, but it is only about 70% as sweet as sugar. The monk fruit bumps the sweetness. And you only need a teeny tiny bit of monk fruit because it is 150 to 200 times sweeter than sugar. The combination is the perfect replacement for sugar in baking.
Great and informative video, thank you! I have a question about the erythritol, you said it's not a good sweetener but then recommended the Sukrin Gold which has is, so I was curious why that is? Trying to make some better, more sustainable food choice for me and my family and your videos are so incredibly helpful, thanks for all the work you and your family and team to to help educate us in so many different ways. I can't wait to try the brownies - YUM!
Evaportaed Cane Juice sugars can actually be good for a diabetic 1/4 tsp. per day can actually give you that sweet cravings you might have without any adverse effects.
I see many utubers doing KETO but a lot of the things they use have Sucralose ,saccharine , acesulfame , ect.....why do they promote such sugar free products ?? They are not knowledgable at all. Thank you for doing your research !!
Super great review on all the sugars! Thank you for educating us all! Also, I ordered your cookbook, can’t wait for it to arrive in my mailbox! Keep up the great work! :)
Thanks, God to you to keep us informed, thank you for keeping us healthier...... God bless you and your family..... good luck with everything you do .....☺️💝🌻
I really wish you would talk about brown rice syrup. It's supposed to be great for diabetics to use. Thank u keep up the great videos, I'm learning a lot.
Erythritol and Xylitol are both terrible for the stomach. I was using it for many months in my coffee and was having embarrassing gas without knowing the cause. Once I stopped and went back a tea spoon of sugar, gas vanished. Sometimes , sugar in moderation has less side effects compared to all these blends..
Yep, My mom is a diabetic. Over the past 6 months, I've never talked so much about gut, sugar/sugar free in my whole entire life. Sugar intake is a big deal.
I just found these videos and am now binge watching all of your videos. One video I didn't see is drinks. I know that is a major question since I drink a looooot of water but it does get tiresome Maybe you can do a video about keto friendly drinks. I'm new to keto and your videos are great.
Yes, Truvia! I love the taste and consistency (most similar to cane) of it and am interested to know more. I wish they sold it in larger quantities for baking.
Little late but Truvia has natural flavors in it. I’ve watched a few of his videos and he goes over that. It’s sneaky they’d add it in but if you don’t mind natural flavors I’d say it’s okay to have
what about a video on vitamins and diet supplements? Whether or not theres a nutritional difference between organic and conventional fruts and veggies? Healthy junk food? juices/kombucha/soda? prepackaged meats? the fresh food section? just some ideas loo
I have to disagree with you regarding Swerve. I use it quite a bit and find that once it's incorporated in to a baked good or oatmeal the cooling effect disappears. If you eat it out of the bag with a spoon, of course it's going to be rather odd. But the brown sugar flavor is excellent in baked goods and I've found it to be very tasty.
Hi Bobby, thank you for the information. Could you show us how to make fudge for the holidays without pure cane sugar? It would be really helpful because I love fudge at X-Mas time.
Stevia has side effects. I started using it to sweeten my coffee. In a month of using it daily , my arthritic pain became worst with worsening generalized muscle aches. I felt back to normal after I stopped using STEVIA.
Pure is the best in any case in my opinion but I'm no expert. It's just more authentic (and expensive) than the bulk artificial ones. But it is usually used in small portions whichever way you go, so I feel like if you do bulk baking, using artificial might be more cost effective. But if you bake every now and then, pure vanilla would be a safe bet
Your recommended choice, ZenSweet, is not all that gut healthy either considering it has chicory root (inulin) in it. Chicory root causes gut issues for many people just as sugar does.
The way these can "wreak havoc" on your gut is very individual experience depending on whether you have the enzyme in your gut to break them down. Some people do very well Xylitol and aren't able to do Erythritol or even Monk Fruit. If one doesn't work for you maybe try another.
You mentioned you don't like erythritol and is not your favorite but you mention the monk fruit brand is fantastic, but contains erythritol 🤔🤔🤔 am confused now. Perhaps the couple of the Monk fruit is sponsoring you? Erythritol isn't your favorite but it's ok in their brand. Misleading
I used the Lakanto Monk fruit sweetener with Erythitol. I had so many stomach issues! Stevia sucks, it changes the flavor of Coffee. I've switched to a high quality Honey.
Am I the only one who had never heard stevia pronounced with an eh instead of ee? Have I been saying it wrong or is it like the whole "tomayto/tomahto" thing?
Hi.. I'm allergic to one or more artificial sweeteners, and I don't believe they are good for us so I avoid them all and all sugar free products. What would you recommend is the best sweetener for me? I don't drink sweet tea or sweet coffee, and I do not drink canned sodas or any other sweet drinks such as that. My application would be more in cooking. I do love desserts and need help breaking that Sugar habit.
I'm the same. I just love desserts and baking so much. You should do 30 days no sugar and it will help you reset your sugar tolerance. That was an eye opener for me. After i did it, i made some spaghetti (using same spaghetti sauce i always bought) and it was the nastiest thing i ever tasted. It was like eating sugar spaghetti. I don't think we realise how much sugar we actually eat. Anyway, do the 30 days no sugar and for sweeteners, right now im team dates. The great thing about date sugar and syrup is that it's just made of dates so youre getting all the fiber and nutrients. But im also still exploring this. I wanna try coconut palm sugar next.
@@kitt7082 I really do need to break up with sugar! Thanks for the encouragement, and suggestion. I do like dates, and use them when I make almond milk. I'll look for recipes and other ways to use them. Take care!
One monk fruit I want to try is Julian Bakery Monk Fruit Powder. I do not know if have them at stores, but they have a website and their ONLY SINGLE ingredient is monk fruit. Others I like are Y.S Eco Bee Farms Raw Honey and their manuka version. Although the last two Publix stores suspiciously didn't have them...
