Joan Osborne singing "Sugaree" with Phil Lesh, Bob Weir, Bill Kreutzmann, Mickey Hart, Jim Herring and Greg Osby (on sax) at Oakland Arena, Dec 30, 2003 Joan Osborne / Grateful Dead playlist: www.youtube.com...
I saw them in Joliet, Il with Bob Dylan on this tour...the stage blew down the night before during a storm so MOE. didn't get to play nor did Robert Hunter. Still a great show and one of the coolest stage I have ever seen!
that was a good show, i got tickets the day before in the 2nd row, right in front of bobby and i remember Joan walking back and fourth looking at us, what a great time
I was at stage left, near the pass-gate for this show and was just blown away by her performance on this song. She COMMANDED the stage and everyone else just faded into the background! It was disappointing when she left the band, but the rumors were that there was another woman involved with the band that didn't want to have her around. We'll never know, but for one brief moment in the band's history, she was a power to be reckoned with.
@@TeaParty1776 : I heard some of the same rumors and that the "other woman" was related to one of the members and was a bit jealous that she was no longer the number one woman in the band'. Regardless, Joan leaving the band was a great loss!
I don't think it was her fault that she didn't stay with them. She was great though. I loved it when she and Bob did Gimme Some Lovin with Steve Winwood at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Maryland.
@mase5701 - No, i don't know how to get the 2004 soundboards. This is from a CD that was sold, not sure if its still available. You can get a good recording with Joan doing Sugaree from 2006, search for "Phil Lesh 2006-02-17 live mp3 download" and go to live archive. The downloads are free.
what a great couple of years these were for me, and i remember when i brought my brother with and he had not seen bobby in a min and was surprised that he had a full beard lol. i jumped on tour and lets just say my head was full and so were my pockets. i have to say that dead&co are even better now though even though Phil is not there but it's his loss
