Haven’t heard this in years! And the chorus, it reminds me of “Daytripper” by The Beatles, which they definitely sampled, even calling out John, Paul & George in the lyrics. Another song they did was “Green Eyed Lady”. One band u might like is Climax Blues Band “Couldn’t Get it Right”
The touchtone phone number sounds you hear twice in the record were real numbers at the time. The first one was an unlisted phone number at CBS Records in Manhattan, probably the company that told them "Don't call us". The second one was The White House main switchboard. 🤣
Yes… at Christina Lake in the 70’s at Harpo’s playing pinball, drop a couple of quarters and punch this one into the jukebox... and we're all bobbing our heads and singing… Next up, M3, the Doobie Brothers….
Laa and Chee! You keep pulling them out of the bag man! One of my faves from when I was 12! You guys are my favorite Time Machine! I’m right back there! There is a live bootleg of Van Halen playing this. It’s worth the search! Keep on keeping on guys!
I haven't checked your Beatles reaction catalogue, but, is it possible you guys have NOT yet reacted to "I Feel Fine" by the Beatles? Sugarloaf keeps making musical references to this song and the Beatles throughout the song. Kind of the backdrop of success; the Beatles set the bar and makes good writing material and storyline for the song. Also, besides playing the riff to "I Feel Fine", they alternate this with their own riff, so it definitely becomes their own unique song, and Sugarloaf sounds fantastic.
I remember this band from when I was in high school, for their one hit, "Green Eyed Lady." Never heard this song before. It doesn't change my view of them. They are just okay.
Another fun early 70's song! The radio was just full of wonderful and diverse music back then. The latest and greatest seemed to pop up just about every day! Lots of that "ear candy"!
One of my favorite song since early childhood, and I could never get tired of hearing it. Same with their other huge hit, green-eyed lady. But this song is delightful and its construction and for me I was most mesmerized by the rhythm section. Intricate and funky drum and bass guitar interaction for sure.
The song is incredible, they insert references to the Beatles 'Day Tripper' and Stevie Wonder's 'Superstition', plus Wolfman Jack's voice saying, "From stereo 92". Fun song, thanks for the reaction.
“Paperback Writer” i$ The Beatles tune that Sugar Loaf “borrowed” a p@rtial rift from & m@de reference to in the lyric$. That’s one $ong by The Beatles that I don’t think th@t you fell@s have ever re@cted to - IF not, ple@se do so!!! 🙏
Y'all did this BEFORE Green Eyed Lady? Wow. Anyway, love this song. But I can't explain why. It's a bit like Frank Zappa in my opine. Check out Zappa's DIRTY LOVE when you get a chance.
Dusted that one off! A song call MR.10 PERCENT by Triumvirat off the Illusions On A Double Dimple album you might. German prog kinda ELPish great drums ✨️🎶✨️
Love the little line (paraphrasing) looking for someone who "sounds like John, Paul, and George", followed by the riff from "I Feel Fine"-nice reference. Always liked that in this song!
Oh, s**t, they're taking the whole Beatles riff on this song. What's amazing is they've made this into an original song about the music industry (in the early '70's).
Great story in this song. Nobody would take their call... then they got their hit record without the people who would not take their call... now those people are calling them LOL Always loved this song. Great reaction guys.
Listen for the Day Tripper riff before the hook. Kind of bringing in the theme of one of the most successful bands ever that actually got turned down a lot before they made it big. Beatles little known fact.
