Reggie Wright Jr gives his opinion on if Tupac was gonna leave Death Row Records or not. And breaks down how much money Death Row Records invested into Tupac before Tupac made any money from album. #Tupac #SugeKnight #SnoopDogg
I bet nate dogg bust in taco bell and told everyone to Lay Low. He didn't ask 21 questions, just regulated and then moved onto the next episode. R.i.p. how long will we mourn.
It does put look at this way... Even if Suge owned the houses and cars, factor if Pac was renting. A Mansion in Hollywood was $10,000 a month, minimum - at that time... Same thing for Calabasas... If he had to lease Bentley's, Rolls-Royce's and Benzes... That would be near a million a year... David Kenner's attorney's fees for the appeal bond. Jewelry, liquor, flights, money for the Outlawz, studio time etc..
Yeah but nothing was in Danny Boys name. When Suge got locked up he took everything back. Reggie should know that. How they got overpaid when Snoop doesn't own his masters? Snoop doesn't get a dime when a copy of Doggystyle gets sold. Reggie is just as shady as Suge
Suge caught a lawsuit which resulted in all the cars being taken back I believe. Snoop might own his masters today if he didn't leave Death Row on bad terms.
Whether anything was in his name or not the things he had use of cost money. The cars, houses, personnel, etc....weren't free of charge. As Reggie said Danny Boy didn't even put out an album.
The man just said Danny Boy lived good with no record, and Nate Dogg lived good with no record. Also, The Dogg Pound lived good with no record (Dogg Food did not come out on DR), Rage lived good with no record, Jewell lived good with no record….I can go on and on. Suge took care of people.
I honestly believe we will. I don’t believe Suge is going to sit in his side of the story. I think Suge is keeping it in his back pocket until the right time. Just my humble opinion
That's funny, I guess you can die in peace once Suge start talking as if he's going to tell the "truth nothing but the truth", good luck with that shit, snakes and cons never tell the truth.
Sure Suge wasn’t stealing from Pac! This is because Reggie was the one stealing! Reggie said a few clips back that he created a shadow publishing company that bought publishing from labels. I am sure he got his hands on the publishing from many Death Row artists at the lowest cost possible!
@@TheKKCody0824 you’re going to have to go back and watch each one of these segments. I can’t recall which one, but I do know it was one of the first few dropped.
Every time I see Reggie comment on Pac , it makes me more than sure that he had something to do with Pac death also if Suge wasn’t stealing how did Afeni win her lawsuit
Those white folks allowed that because they didn’t want suge to own the masters….kinda funny how Afeni suddenly passed away too. Suge ain’t the devil man
Listen to what Reggie says in the video! He said Suge would just pacify artists with a cheque or whatever they wanted when they asked about seeing the books. Suge gave them watever they wanted (in Suges name). Suge cant even read!! Hes practically illiterate. David Kenner and Reggie didnt have to try hard to rob Suge and Pac blind. Reggies using the reasoning that its ok because Suge already gave the artists way more than they would actually be given if they checked the books. Mainly because of all their million dollar lawyer and security fees. The real problem is that artists were only making $1 off a $10-15 record. TLC were making like 50 cents. Record companies were getting away with owning peoples masters for life, unlike now. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PKEjTTKGIUo.html
well when you got guards playing in ya ass doing cavity searches to break you and putting you in solitary it doesn't make for the best stories...shit happens. our brothers in and fresh out of prison have nothing to apologize for. if you survive them walls and make it out of that shit you have some level of strength.
Nate Dogg robbing taco Bell's still funny to me. Like imagine him robbing one, getting the money. But also ordering a chalupa and large Baja blast. Lol
@UC9o_IyqxuYWrXhuAtLo2YjQ dude what was he supposed to do and say???? Suga got him out of jail!! I believe if pac wasn’t in that jail mess he wouldn’t look suga way. 2pac wasn’t no dummy
People say Pac knew his death was coming but fail to realize that he was out pending his appeal. Had he not gotten killed that night, more than likely he was going back to jail. That MGM footage would've sealed his fate.
I'm not a Suge fan, but you at least got to give him some credit for hiring high powered attorney's for Snoop and the others as well. Yeah, it was self serving, but without Suge Snoop would be doing a long bid right now without that. And so would some other artists.
Suge never killed tupac or biggie thats a bunch of horseshit, sharitha knight, reggie wright jr, and lil half dead are responsible for the murder of tupac
Of course Suge didn’t want to have real royalty statements. It’s easier to hide (steal) money when you’re just handing out cash to the artists and “giving” them houses, cars, etc. that are not even in their own name.
Reggie mentioning all the $$$ that Nate Dogg, Danny Boy & etc that was being spent on them as if Suge wasn't going to the charge all that money back to them when they released an album. The reason those artist never released an project is because of the label. They had miles of unreleased music. Rage talks about that all the time. They drop the ball with her, right before Kim & Foxy came out, she had the lane with Afro Puffs.
Exactly! Jewel too. They had a few dope artists who albums got shelved. Yeah he gave them toys and allowances to play with but that was strategic strategy to fuck em over their royalties and publishing
I only recently discovered your channel and I have been hooked. I have watched damn near every video you have and wow, just amazing, so good! I am feeling terrible as I know I have watched everything and then bam! New video, this is amazing. Keep them coming brother. This is legendary shit, very well produced and executed. I never get tired of hearing about this shit.
Yea me too i just started watching vlad about 2 months ago and have been hooked ever since. These interviews damn near solving cases and bringing closure to these murders. These interviews are also giving people a platform to give real facts to situations that people need to know. Cause its so many conspiracies and lies on the internet you dont know what to believe. Vlad gives you the TRUTH!!! Cold hard facts.
It’s ironic that Reggie Wright failed to mentioned that Tupac moms had to sue death row for all the money that was due to him although death row gave pac a lot of gifts and incentives, explain to me why Tupac was paying for Nate dog child support , and why all those cars and properties wasn’t in pac name ?? Someone please explain 🤷🏽♂️
I swear these people are fucking dumb tupac called an audit on deathrow for not seeing his money yasming fula kadafi mom files it big frank his bodyguard says the same reggirw is a crooked cop who had a hand in pac set up, y'all up here talking bout hope reggie gets better loll
Tupac was leaving Death Row,hence why he did those 3 albums so quickly. Tupac also fired David Kenner before dying. I believe he was leaving and that's when this Death Row East started. Sugar Knight didn't want his biggest star leaving. That DR East was a ploy to get him to stay. DR East wasn't even Tupac's label or ran by him. Eric B was supposed to run it. Tupac didn't need DR like they needed him!
This doesn't follow anything. Death Row was planning to do Death Row East and expand into NY and Pac was supposed to spearhead that movement. That's why a lot of East Coast niggas was getting at Suge and Pac to end the beef.
What I don’t like about Reggie is like he talks as if he was suge knights partner or some record executive in creating death row during its height let’s keep it real you were just a body guard/ corrupt ass cop until suge went to prison then he gave you some authority but Before then him and suge weren’t close
Reggie was trying to kill Suge in Vegas so him, Sharitha Knight and David Kenner could take the record label. You can hear Suge explain what happened on The Dossier Podcast on Spotify with FBI agent Phil Carson
Reggie succeded in getting rid of pac and suge and becoming in charge of Death Row with Sharitha. They sold everything off and made it do bankrupt. David Kenner made sure they got away with murder.
Most labels paid studios, producers, and musicians directly via vouchers back then. And once the album was delivered, anything left over would go to the artist. Smart musicians used the budget money to buy equipment to build a studio so they could create without being on a studios clock. They would pocket the balance of the advance and used the new studio as a profit center renting it out to aspiring musicians. Prince is an example of that. Plus a bunch of rock bands did that in the 70’s. Obviously you take the master to the studio for the final mix so it’s polished but all the tracking would be done outside of a studio for hire. This is also how Prince ended up with so many masters. A lot of those recordings would have been property of Warner bros if he was doing everything on Warner bros dime. Look at the OGs to learn the game.
RW: Pac had it hard in prison…Pac had it real hard in prison…long pause….Interviewer: How do you feel about people saying Suge Knight wasn’t paying Tupac what he was supposed to. Man GTFOH! Reggie was waiting to be asked was Pacs experience in prison was like. What a missed opportunity. I’m tired of hearing about the bullshit ass financial rumors.
Sometimes I think the interviewer needs practice listening. I've seen so many missed opportunities follow-up questions in several interviews. I think over time he improves. Maybe it's time restraint and wants only his questions answers.
Facts!! These interviewers are always counting pockets 🤦🏻♂️. Instead of asking the same $ questions we’ve all heard 100 times he could’ve gotten a story right then about something that most people haven’t heard anything about. But they always too worried about how much money someone has or don’t have
I mean he only set up the whole hit on tupac in the first place with sharitha knight and lil half dead. Theres a video on youtube that has the phone call between reggie and sharitha talking about getting paid for “something in vegas” and lil half dead had bad history w pac already and guess when his birthday is? Sept 17 same day pac died what better birthday present for reggie and sharitha to give lil half dead the opportunity to murder pac.
I think this is somewhat true. Snoop was going to do Doggystyle Records and distributed by Death Row and Pac was going to do Makaveli Records distributed by Death Row. Pac died and Snoop left but Snoop owed so much money for his lawyers and trial.
Suge saved a lot of niggas from poverty and the streets, even if he robbed them he made them millionaires, that’s justifiable if you ask me. Everyone gets robbed in this world no way around it
Correction. Pac got a weekly allowance of 5k a week. Pac purposely told Frank to get his money from Reggie. And Reggie knows this. There was no 15k weekly allowance when it came to Pac. That's kap.
Reggie, I wish you a very speedy recovery, I had no idea or no way of knowing how sick you've been, I have sent you plenty of messages during the years with no response, you probably never received any of them but that's a different story....I hope you recover and become a 100% Reggie....by the way I just wanted to tell you thank you for having my back, I just was blind to fact that you were helping me....Thanks Reggie.👍
Ppl don’t realize had Pac lived his bail bond would of been revoked 4 that fight with Orlando It is so many stipulations on a bail bond ... The same way Suge was sent to jail 4 the violation of probation 4 da fight ....
If Pac survives the shooting there’s gonna be a trial because of the fight in the Casino. That investigation would have uncovered that the fighting and the shooting were linked and 2pac was coerced into a staged fight. He would’ve never went to Jail. Reggie Wright and his dad would have been dead by now if Pac lived
@@dexterisaccs545 U must don’t know about bail /bail bond stipulations … They are strict he definitely would of went back 2 jail it is a violation of the conditions… He would have 2 fought all of that from jail .. That fight was not staged .. so a staged fight went n2 a murda huh ? Make it make sense .. facts ova feelings..
Yes but like he said they didn't have a royalty department. They owed alot of money yes but it was royalty and ownership. I don't think he didn't do anything that all other labels didn't do. Like intersope and Atlantic.
@@TOE813 misappropriation of funds. They refused to give Tupac his accounting. Tupac knew about this since February of 96. Tupac had more power with interscope than suge did. She sued him under the rico act.
@@mariobtron5907 The main purpose of Afeni's suit was to get Pac's contract declared invalid and to gain control over Pac's music. Yes, she sued for the unpaid royalties. But, that was more of a formality. The voiding of the contract and control over Pac's catalog (and his likeness) was worth more than the unpaid royalties.
I remember just before you got sick I posted some b.s. and Reggie checked me quick. We hashed it out , I apologized and we kept it moving. I have a 14 and 12 year old nephew with C. Stay Strong brother Reggie. Love from Ocala,Florida. One Love
Reggie is absolutely right no pun intended. Suge and Pac were getting ready to start Death Row East before Pac died. He wasn't going to leave Death Row because Suge was probably going to make him an exec there or restructure his deal.
I believe Pac was gonna leave and do his own thing. Thats why he did 3(AEOM double album) albums. Also Pac was never truly signed to Death Row. Pac was still signed to interscope just like Death rows deal was with interscope. They just let Pac go over there and Suge actually bailed Pac out with Pacs own money! Suge just got some of Pacs money from interscope who owed Pac money!
@@juzeljames7793 Explain lol. Just because he was doing Death Row East doesn't mean be wasn't leaving a label he truly was never on. Doing Death row east would be no different than Jay Z running rock a fella but was the president of def Jam at one point! Pac could take the job but start his own as well.
Yea but the difference between Digital and Suge was that Suge had MONEY money. Digital were his niggas as his road dogs. Suge was bringing in too much money for 2Pac to just leave and say "Alright Suge, much love gotta go my own way. Peace." No matter how much fame at the time he had, he kinda needed Deathrow, especially when the Row was intertwined with his not only his music but movies. Idk about 97 Pac leaving, but maybe 99-00 Pac would've most likely separated from the branch and did his own thing once he got the money right, and knew the foundation of it. Then he would've been doing movies under bigger branches. Tell me if I'm wrong, but I think 2Pac would've been like the Rock. Deathrow being wwe. Rock/2Pac would always go back once in awhile, but the movie career was the answer. Just saying it woulda took Pac just a little longer.
2pac said his whole plan on moving forward with Death Row Records being tied into Makaveli Records it just flew over people's heads because of the words he chose to use. Go back and listen to the toss it up intro and say I'm not right.
@@chitownmytownofficialonean6067 Bruh that shit smoke and mirrors Makaveli Records was gone be his own label cause Suge and Dem boys wasn't keeping it real. He kept up with the MOB for face to not reveal the plan. That Deathrow East shit was Suge attempt to keep him satisfied, and plus that boy fed.
@@davidparker5657 Just like Reggie said yal wasn't there but still think you have all the answers. Sorry but when it comes to a 2pac topic I'm gonna listen to him on it.
Reggie tries to use mind control and manipulation to make people believe what he want them to believe. He’s saying If Pac was really leaving then that makes him a liar and a actor. He says this because he knows how much the fans believe in Pac and will not go for him being a liar etc. I think Reggie is expressing his true feelings towards Tupac. I think at that time when Pac fired him and was telling Suge he was done with D.R. This what the 28 year old Reggie felt about Pac. This makes me go back to my old belief that Reggie could have had a hand in setting that dude up. You have to read between the lines with Reggie
I used to trip on that line n didn't like the song because of it I didn't understand why he would say that...(Think I Got a blk Beamer), I know he rap off the top of his head often n thought that's what it was along w the Indo, Chronic! Then I thought about it.
Pac wanted his own label, that’s common knowledge. Everyone has said he was going to be distributed by Death Row. But it was still going to be his own company in a partnership with the Row. He had love for Suge for bailing him out. So, of course he representing Death Row and that was the label he was on. But that doesn’t mean he wanted to stay underneath someone for the rest of his career. If you listened to Pac, he once said that everything is a come up. Every move he makes is a come up. I’m going by what Pac said himself and what those he mention Makaveli records said.
Go listen to sway interview and check description. When do u see urself in 5 years Pac said i see myself having a label under deathrow and a production company
Boy y'all love to keep the lies going and y'all love to spin the narrative in your version when u know nothing about it it's multiple people who been under Pac said the same thing and never spent a day under this man u fans is really delusional
I remember pulling up Pac's credit report when he died and he was in debt and had mass collections on it...and by the time he died all eyez was 5 time Platinum and nothing was in Pac's name and he was in debt...let that sink in
He’s telling the truth I remember hearing snoop say I think on behind the music that he didn’t get a $50,000 check one specific month. So the amounts match. That means Tupac was making more than anyone on Death Row. But he’s telling the truth about everything Pac did have it rough in the pen too. So it’s either sit in the pen or sign a bad record deal and be free. The music industry isn’t designed for the artist to have the upper hand it’s designed for the label to have the upper hand. The only artist that has ever had the upper hand is Master P and it’s still the same way to this day. But what he’s saying matches up with every interview and article I’ve ever seen or read.🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️
Suge was "double dipping" with 2pacs publishing and royalties Suge got 20% of all 2pacs earnings as his manager but he was also the CEO of Death Row records they get executive producer royalties and publishing on each artist's songs and all of the cars 2pac was riding in were leased through Death Row records but paid by 2pacs royalties account and the houses @ pace lived in were leased thru Death Row but paid by 2Pacs' royalties.
but Snoop dissed Master P as well on his own cd Ghetto Postage a song called Pop My Collar listen to the very end of the song right as its going off he dissed Master P and No Limit and P saved him from Death Row
This is one of the best interviews I've ever heard about Death Row and I've watched all the Vlad interviews. Reggie Wright breaks everything down and he was actually there when it all went down
Even if something wasn't in Pac's name somebody had to pay for it. Label's aren't just paying for their artists houses, cars, jewelry, court cases, security, and all their 20 member entourages plane tickets around the world for free. It cost to be and look like a boss. Every dollar a label spends on an artist has to be recouped or the label will fold.
@@shawnbronxstar4667 who is paying for million dollar budget videos the artist or label. Who paid for snoops defense for his murder case. Snoop would have had a public defender if it wasn't for Death Row. @@MoneyXL And u think he did all that because ot was out of the kindness of his heart??? Whatever he advances them he is making 20 times that amount!! Its coming out of their the Artist budget and they have to pay that back in record sales and he know they will sell
Pac wasn't signed to death row,he was signed to interscope..and interscope gave suge the bail money, which came from Pacs MATW album...also nothing was in Pacs name on DR,,,that's why afeni successfully sued death row...all the paperwork shown in court proved DR owed Pac money,,that's why afeni won the court case...so Reggie is lying.
Maybe you don't understand that pac made 10s of millions from his records before he died. A house car videos and studio time doesn't cover what he was owed. That's why Tupac mom won a lawsuit. They are bamboozling yall with these owe he had studio time a car a house. Bullshit. Gimme my money and I'll build my own studio. Suge and Reggie booty boys
Agreed. And what he’s saying about the money is absolute facts. Suge was spending a lot of money on PAC and the money from All Eyes on Me had not come in yet, so what could he have been stealing?
@@RedStl The money came in for "Me against the world" though, which was a double platinum album while pac was in prison! Pac was not truly broke interscope was just holding onto his money! Suge got Pac out with Pacs own money. Pac was never truly signed to death row. He was still signed to interscope just like Death row thats why it was so easy for him to go over there. Interscope never let Pac go they just let him go to somebody they do business with. With that being said I don't believe Suge fucked Pac over on money but I do believe that Pac was leaving thst situation to start his own! Even if he ran Death row east for Suge he was still gonna have hiw own as well because death Row east was still gonna be suges shit!
@@robertpitts8161 Interscope and Suge are two different things. If you want to say that Interscope was stealing from PAC that’s a different conversation and a whole different set of circumstances. This question was about people saying that Suge was stealing from Pac, which just wasn’t the case.
@@RedStl I never said Suge was stealing from Pac. I agree on that. I just have a issue with people saying Suge bailed Pac out when he really made interscope bail pac out with his own money. I even still give suge credit for thst thought because at least he had the balls to check them for Pac when Pac couldn't!
Reggie a liar, Pac had death row as his management in contract, he never signed a deal, which was Suges strategy to keep any music recorded in his studio. When Pac asked for a contract review and it was delayed obviously by Kenner, he fired him as his lawyer as Kenners position as a Deathrow Executive. Suge was trying to distribute and maybe appease Pac yes, but Reggie doesn’t mention the recouping issue, w/o a contract Suge could claim everything.
Bruh stop acting like u slow or something everything was Suge until Pac pay him Pac never made it to receive no money so everything was money out of Suge pocket
@@bsmoove2800 that’s not true. Have you read the contract? I’ve just re read it (available online).. the main points of the sept 1995 DR contract (not be confused by the Jul contract with Kenner) is: * 1 million dollars to be paid on signature of contract (signing on fee) * 250,000 to be set up for legal fund * 1 million dollars advance (repayable) for every album. *125,000 for repayment of some fees (can’t make out) *18% royalty rate for each album that reaches gold or platinum sales
I always heard that those cars and homes were in Suges name. What happened to all that money that did come after he died? Did his mom receive a mansion, his cars and millions of dollars?
Some people don't understand the meaning of independent contractors. That's basically what artists are. An advance is basically an interest-free loan that's to be paid back in album sales, touring money, merchandise money, etc. Not all deals are structured the same, but that's the gist of it.
Great interview. Shit Deathrow would have been really rolling in the money, Pac as well with today's technology. Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon, Streams, RU-vid. Shit.....Bankrolling!!!!
