This video is useful not to show which is better, but to show the difference in the pickup frequency response. The best one will depend on the guitar wood and construction. Very good comparison. Thanks
I agree there is something similar in the way the mids of these two pickups are voiced. I own both and use them in different guitars. However the SSH+ is more bassy and less top-end harmonics. They are never going to be really similar unless you have a way to shift the EQ balance. The SSH+ is a cool pickup because its warm and smooth, yet still has a nice pick response.
You can try modifying the circuit by installing an active boost or simply using a boost pedal. But this pickup has a good medium output voice, maybe you should try another model with high output.
