Here's my only complaint when it comes to rotten tomatoes and critics. If you're gonna critique this movie and give it a score, at least be fair and just. Yes, the movie is not great by any means to some folks, but there is no way in hell this movie is under 30% and worse than Sharknado, Fantastic Four, AND X-Men Origins Wolverine. 60% or 50% at the least is understandable. The fact that they stooped as low as they did with the bashing and stretched vocabulary or words just completely makes you question their credibility as critics in general.
First, Sharknado is a purposefully bad movie, it is to be taken as a ridiculous comedy movie, and it nails it as that. Second, only 17 critics rated Sharknado in RT, too few to consider a full fledged average critique of a movie. I think SS already has over 200 critics rating it. Now, that 30% doesnt mean it is just a 30% rating, it means 30% of critics gave it a positive review and recommend to go watch it. Actual average rating in RT is 4.9/10.
kicsnasdc the Sharknado reasoning I can understand, but for films that are clearly worse than Suicide Squad that were just as ambitious, not so much. That being said, the fact that Rotten Tomatoes has a recommend to go watch review and an actual review should not exist, because how many will actually even see the actual review score they gave the film? Most will just see that % and immediately assume that's the score they gave the movie.
+kicsnasdc that still doesn't make sharknado a good movie. it's still shit. a movie that's purposefully bad is still bad, it doesn't make it good. like the guilty pleasure movies, we watch it from time to time, but it's still shit.
+Jack Dullboy (Thejoker77) Then all parodies and satires are shit movies because of conception. But whatever, point is, RT isnt as flawed as everyone makes it to be
Loved that scene, one thing that bothered me was the fact that he never once reloaded his weapons on top of the car. I mean if you're going for a comic based goofy/witty movie I guess actual gun physics don't matter, but at the end he's explaining gun physics to his daughter through math.
actually he does! thats the point! while shooting in between he just gives a backward stroke to that gun with other hand and so does to opposite hand! he does that so fast and while the military guys were reloading he just does that in a blink and does his job so they stop and are in shock that he's doing the job in the time these guys reload their guns!!
Even some critics don't explain why that was everyone's favorite scene. As someone who cares enough about the action to talk more about that than the script, my observation is that they exploit the value of showing not telling to a perfect degree. The director shows the full extent of Deadshot's skill and you feel a sense of force go into every shot fired. We as the audience are supposed to be taken into the exhibition of the characters capabilities and in that moment we are.
yeah he was MIND blowing the scene when he gets out of the car and punches someone oh so beatiful. and when he died was the most saddest deaths in movies. such a shame a character with very good character development just died because he wanted freedom
my favorite joker moment was when the guy kissed his ring and joker is all like "ooh I can tell that you meant that" and straddles his lap. such a perfect combo of creepy unnerving and funny.
That scene was just awkward felt like they were trying too hard to make this joker different.... It would've been cool if he had him kiss his rings then joker stared at him for a sec and started laughing at him for being so scared and fuckin dumb.
+sfeinberg16 nah, it was very similar to how flamboyant the TDKR Joker is. Which makes sense they'd draw from there, considering Batfleck took a lot of inspiration from TDKR.
Harley's moment with Enchantress was pretty damn cool - "I like what your selling lady, there's just one teeny problem.. You messed with my friends!!" *stabs* rips out heart. We actually saw a glimpse of her old self using her psychiatrist training by using reverse psychology on Enchantress.
Brandon Poole i enjoyed it but it was still a weirdly edited mess. some characters were wasted like katana and killer croc and others were meh like jared leto joker. if it wasn,t for warner bros trying so hard to rush to compete with marvel it would have stood a better chance. overall i give it a 6 out of 10 fun but totally rushed. (better than bvs)
Isaiah Garraway Yeah no argument here, I really wish WB would stop rushing to compete or catch up to Marvel and allow their extended universe to grow and flourish more organically. That, and stop fucking with the Directors! Let them do their jobs and present THEIR visions. Hopefully Geoff Johns will Kevin Feige this whole mess.
Have to admit my favorite bit with the Joker was him ready to leave Harley to die in the acid, but ultimately has a moment of "Damn, I like her too much." and he jumps in to save her.
@jessicaohkay That's exactly what it was, at least in the novel. He thinks he is not done with her yet. He expected her to choke and not jump, but she jumped instead.
I thought Joker cared to much about Harley. The reason their dinamic is interesting is because Joker is a complete asshole, but Harley keeps coming back. Having Joker's entire thing be to get Harley felt weird to me.
flight departure Because the hot topic crowd think/want that Harley and Joker to have a decent relationship. Plus I imagine with the PG-13 rating, Joker slapping around "the fire in his loins" would create some backlash.
+flight departure There isn't a "real story" just like there isn't a "real joker" for two primary reasons. 1. They are fictional. 2. The joker and his relationship with Harley is just as unpredictable as he as a character is. It's not like he was exactly loving, either. Convincing someone to jump into a chemical vat isn't exactly romantic. There is nothing that says he can't have a genuine interest in Harley.
I truly enjoyed this..I don't see how people could be thoroughly disappointed with this film. It ain't perfect, but for people to say they are disappointed by this, I just don't understand..
movies like this are mainly made for fans of the comics and for general movie goers who enjoy superhero/action movies. not everyone's going to like it, especially film critics because they notice the flaws the we as a general audience don't usually pay attention to or mind
It's not the staff at rottentomatoes who make the reviews. Each score is compiled of positive reviews made from critics from other sites. Shutting down rottentomatoes because independent critics gave the movie a bad review is like shutting down a statistical agency because it showed which political party got the least votes. It's stupid. If you look at the score right next to the 26% that Suicide Squad got on rottentomatoes, you can see that 74% of the audience liked it. Almost like the score on IMDB (7,2/10) which is based on the user votes.
Really think this Joker has potential to grow more, definitely wanna see more from him and what Jared can deliver. Margot Robbie definitely impressed me!!! She was the one I was most excited to see besides the Joker and she nailed it! Great and kickass Harley Quinn who was also pretty damn funny 😄
They should make either a Batman movie with Joker and Harley as Batman's main opponents, or a spin-off Harley Quinn movie with the Joker playing a major role.
see. that's one of the example of mediocre writing. they could've added some team moment acknowledging diablos death, but nah we did not get anything. no one even said his name after his death, just poof. gone.
+chrismas see I was actually debating to say that but I wanted him to have a good end but sense you said it I guess he kinda can't and I'm not trying to be rude he was a good character
Yeah, after seeing this movie I was like "oh crap I have to go to work tomorrow". I think that's what's great about movies, they're an escape from the sometimes dull monotony of everyday life.
Which tells you that DC takes risks. Not everyone is safe at the end of the day (ie pretending to be dead, about to be resurrected, turned into a sapling and waiting to grow back into a huge tree creature, etc)
Well... His loss wasn't emotional at all... Not a bit... Besides we all knew he'd be back... It would've been better if they didn't show the sand rising tho... Keep supes a secret till JL... Could've been gold.
+Thatssomegoodpie Animations why? He seemed to be going more for an emo Justin beiber than anything else. His lines were horrible and almost made no sense. He wasn't crazy or manipulative, he was just emotional. To top it all off the Harley relationship was ALL WRONG. Joker doesn't give a fuck about Harley, it's the other way around. Go watch the animated series or some of the animated movies. That abusive one sided relationship is what keeps them entertaining. Joker beats the shit out of her, ignores her and she always runs back to him as soon as he needs her and says sorry. THAT would of been interesting. Overall the movie was shit
Fernando shut the fuck up, Letos Jokers is the most visually accurate Joker on screen ever and I loved his persona he nailed it, except I wish he'd have laughed at things that were funny instead of nothing. Way better then HJeath LEdger's lame unfunny jokers that's for damn sure.
thats your opinion and its fine.for example i enjoyed him and am hoping to see what he will add as the new joker. and the emo justin bieber to joker comparison doesnt make sense. his tattoos were representative of his characters and would be something a modernised joker could have. pretty sure someone from the movie said that they wanted to focus on the emotional side of the relationship of the character and cut the abusive parts. plus its a different take on the character he is gonna have differences there are more types of The Joker Heath was chaotic and leto was the gangster, the clown prince of crime, having his gf by his side and conquering Gothams underground.
Suicide Squad was an uninspired messy piece of shit that thinks that pretty lights, Harley Quinn Fanservice, heavy unnecessary CGI, and a popular retro song every five fucking minutes compensates for a weak generic story with a weak generic villain and a weak generic resolution, cheesy lines, dumb lame cliches, shit pacing, an incoherent edition that could pass as a swiss cheese with ADHD, plot devices for every plot point and plot armor for every important character, and a characterization that could literally pass as a highschoolers PPT presentation homework. 4/10 Come at me
+pop roy Hm fair enough, but the CGI on the faceless generic army monster, and the generic giant ring of destruction above the city, and in the generic massive weapon of death were annoying too. Also they only had Harley Quinn there for marketing purposes, we all know it. Also 70% of the songs came out of nowhere and didnt have anything to do, except just be there because "Guardians of the Galaxy did it"
I love the past where Harley says that everyone's ugly on the inside, except Croc who's ugly on the outside too, and he takes his hood off and says "I'm beautiful."
I pretty much liked the entire ensemble and thought they were well cast. Deadshot was a fantastic take on a sociopath, every time Harley and the Joker were on screen I was nailed to the floor, Amanda Waller scared me absolutely shitless and my only real complaint was that I wasnt given enough time with the actual squad, getting to know them. the plot got in the way. which wouldnt be so bad if it were a unique one but it's the same 'someone's building a machine/portal/magic beanstalk that will destroy the world and the protagonists have to save it' story we keep seeing. i seriously couldve spent the whole movie with the squad in the bar and been happy. the movie is at its best when it's focusing on them, their character development and their relationships to each other. and seriously, if i ever see Amanda Waller coming at me, I'm running for my life because that bitch never brings good news. She's terrifying. compared to her, bring on the end of the world... it's far less frightening o.O
It did go overboard which almost ruined Will Smith's character moment within it. They also went overboard with the Enchantress vs Squad choreography, being hard to believe and stupid of her to not just use her magic to take away the weapons sooner.
if you ever been in a fire fight or even in a regular fight you would understand that when you are an intense and scary moment in your life things move slow for you. it is the adrenaline. so when it happened just think what if that was you fighting a witch who teleports and has fighting skills. you are surviving.
Harley Quinn did develop, from questioning her loving the Joker, and the Joker alone, and grew to care about her teammates when her Puddin is not around. Deadshot did become a better person at the end. He did prove that he can be better than what he was, which is what Rick Flag said he was. Granted, execution needs work quite a bit, or a lot depending on your opinion, but the development is there in the story.
My favourite scene was when the Joker shows up in the helicopter shooting and laughing and Harley playing dead when Deadshoot shoot her. The best character was el Diablo, i hope he can comeback. I liked the movie, 8/10.
Viola Davis is 100% bad a s s. She really contributed to me loving the movie. First time I am gonna say it, but she was like better than any other Amanda Waller from the comics and the animated series and movies. Wow! Would love to see more of her in the future. :)
It's a good movie for me now all I'm waiting for is the extended cut that I'm sure will be released on Blu Ray and DVD,I'm sure that the extended cut will be better cause this movie is an easy 2 and a half hour movie chopped down to 2 hours and Jared Leto did say the studio did cut out a lot of his scenes and the studio got cold feet and started cutting parts of the movie after BVS cause they didn't want it to be too long like BVS.
Nah. Everyone just has their own opinions. You hated it. He loved it. Doesn't make the film garbage, just wasn't good enough for you or didn't meet your standards
Great characters, awesome style, disappointing story. Wished the story had more of those edgy moral dilemmas that DC has and better villain motivation.
Suicide Squad It was so good 7.5/10 This is a character driven film, it has pretty good action sequences, good soundtrack and awesome score composition, plot is easy to follow even with some editing problems, very funny movie jokes aren't forced, good dialogue. Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn was perfect, best character. Will Smith as Deadshot, very good, doesn't oveshadow others. Viola Davis as Amanda, spot on character, very ruthless, what a mean lady. Jared Leto as The Joker, his character is unique, wild card in the story, but interesting relation with Harley Quinn. Jai Courtney as Boomerang was so funny. Jay Hernandez as Diablo, awesome character with heart. Cara Delevingne as June Moon/The Enchantress, very dualic and chaotic character. Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc, good. Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, good guy completing his mission. Karen Fukuhara as Katana, misterious assassin, sadly underutilized. Adam Beach as Slipknot, he served his purpose. My favorite moment is when Joker comes in the helicopter for Harley and she leaves everyone for him. Great cameos, you feel how the DCEU is expanding. Overall this a solid comicbook movie, yet again critics are wrong.
well you are not far off. It's a mix between WB version and Ayer's version. WB made their own cut because they are panicking over BvS while Ayer is still editing his own cut. That's fucked up.
Did no one have pause for how joker sacrificed himself for Harley? I mean, good for her to actually have him love her for once, but it just didn't feel like something he'd actually do.
in his spoiler free video I actually thought he was referring to that scene when he said someone acted out of character. yea I cant see the joker doing that at all
but we saw that though Harley so for course it would look like he loved her moat likely if it wasn't a flashback there would've been more dialogue and a meaner joker
Agreed, I myself enjoyed the film, it was a fun ride, but I'm not going to dislike Stuckmann's review for his opinion, he gave legitimate reasons on why the film had problems which it did
yeah, bc Marvel goes around making petitions to shut down everyrhing that doesn't agrees with them, lets be honest, DC fanbase now is just like sonic or MLP :v
My issue is the potential it doesn't live up to. If you're a DC or overall superhero fan, then you KNOW how fucking amazing this movie should've been. I think some critics are over exaggerating (some gave it Fs or 0/10), but I also think some fans are being too nice (just throwing 10/10).. That's their opinion, which they're not wrong for, but I don't get it. -Some stuff works (most characters & great scenes), but a lot doesn't (writing, bad editing, pacing, how they use music every 30 seconds, awful villain, etc). I feel like there's a 1st act and then it jumps straight to a 3rd that's really bad and boring, with a final battle that's laughable. -Why are they caring for eachother? Why the fuck does Diablo (who's great) consider them a family (my theater laughed)? Why is Enchantress a belly dancer and something outta a superhero movie parody? -WB is the issue here. They don't know wtf they're doing. It's another transformers situation, meaning the studio doesn't try. These movies should be fantastic!! Not just ok... 6.5/10
Also why does Boomerang join the group again after he "supposedly" leaves? He's free do what ever he wants, or why does the croc want to help? All of them are villains and shouldn't care about Echantress. Did the army guy tell them before that she we was going to destroy the world or after?
I'm a huge Suicide Squad fan & I thought this movie was amazing. This movie gave me the amazing characters I love & made people love them too. So for me, it won.
+Alex “Come And Get Your” Love I couldn't agree more, I had the exact same reaction. Them all acting like they cared for each other so much, and in particular that "family" line by El Diablo that you mentioned, absolutely disengaged me for the rest of the movie
+Jonathan Cedeno I think it will have the scenes where the joker anuses Harley since the movie was suppose to have it but the idiotic testing audience didn't like it. Smh very pathetic and it would have been an eye opening for fake fans.
I absolutely hated this movie. The logic behind every scene made no sense. They just had shit happen to get from point A to point B because fuck it! We have to progress the plot. I mean every characters motivations were cliche or made no sense. What did her machine even fucking do? Why was everyone black with 30 eyes? There were absolutely no explanations. And the new Joker was awful, he tried WAY TOO HARD!!! And dont even get me started on Harley. She was cringey, in fact the whole movie can be summed up by that word, cringey. No one in the theater laughed at the jokes, it was unbearably un-funny. And then "Boomerang, mister solo lone wolf, doesnt play well with others" goes ahead and risks his life for criminals hes known for 12 fuckin hours. Then Slipknots entire character was wasted in a lazy excuse to explain to the audience "yes the bombs in their neck are real." Then Diablo gives his life for a bunch of random criminals that he calls his "second family" when hes known them for less than a day and all theyve said to him was "Use your powers pussy." There are seriously about 100 other flaws but I cant even fit them all in this post. The movie was so full of holes, and lazy plot progressions that I cant even fathom the horrible pile of shit I just watched.
Your theater sounded like a graveyard bro. My theater was laughing and enjoying every moment. I went with a couple of people and we all enjoyed it, keep in mind we went there not seeing most of the advertisements and with the note that people said the movie is horrible. Best movie I've seen this summer.
Agreed. I feel the exact same way. I just saw it yesterday and I'm still in shock of how bad it was. I was expecting it to be not great but I didn't expect it to be this pile of dogshit. It's even more surprising to me that Jeremy liked it at all.
I agree. The storyline was so weak. The characters motivations were illogical and doesn't fit. The joker was there just for the love story between him and harley.
+Captain Boomerang I want you to imagine joker. imagine the voice you read his lines with in your head when you read comics or how he looks. for 9/10 people, its Hamill. so yeah, I'd consider him the definitive joker, even if hes a voice actor for him
+Phillo127 but I definitely think he's still above Jared Leto. Jared Leto is all that but less important and less original. And it's REALLY hard to take him seriously
i have to agree it was very entertaining for me, tbh i never found a superhero movie bad only that it has flaws but doesn't mean its the worst movie you could see.
It was a bad movie , you should not be a fan of the franchise to enjoy a movie, it was bad pure and simple no amount of fan service is going to change that.
St. Friday Did I compare him to others? He was over hyped with all the news that he was doing all this method acting and shit. I hated every scene he was in.
+St. Friday It's not that people hated Leto's performance (although I can't speak for everyone), but more about the character itself. For me, I just strongly disliked the direction of the Joker. He seemed like a character out of Twilight and more of a slightly unstable gangster interested in money than a mysterious psychopath who's intentions are unknown. I don't need a full Batman movie to know that as it was clearly laid out in the film. I feel like all the Batman movie would do to make the character better would be to completely rewrite him. As for now, for what we have seen (which is entirely what the character is at this point), he is not very intriguing.
+St. Friday Leto's Joker SUCKED and it was way overhyped by people who really thought the "crazy" tattoos, no eyebrows and rapper grill was somehow a "cool and different" version of the Joker, when it actuality the reason for his stupid look was to pitch it to dumb ass teens who love that kind of stupid thug shit and don't know anything about the Joker. No one is preventing Leto's performance from shining because it was really mediocre and he didn't look anything like the Joker,.. brah.
This movie reminded me of X-Men First Class in many ways. Enchantress was introduced like Mystique, then she went all Magneto and decided she and the other powerful people could only earn human respect by killing them until survivors submitted. Waller's more manipulative and cutthroat than the government powers the X-Men faced in that prequel, but you can see a lot of parallels there.
I thought suicide squad was better then civil war. Civil was was better then Batman V Superman but it's not a 9.5/10 movie. My flaw with it was that they JUST start caring about super heroes destroying crap and killing people. The fight was cheesy with Spider-Man and Ant-Man was the bad kind of cringy. The other part with Iron-Man taking Captain Americas shield was just a bid weird. I still love the movie, but I thought Suicide squad was a bit better.
I enjoyed the film, but the studio really messed with it and it showed. The storyline/plot was weak and the villain underdeveloped. The editing was choppy and it really felt like they just chucked a whole lot of random scenes together. Nothing flowed well. I liked the tone and the characters were really great. Would liked to have seen more emphasis on how fucked up Harley's relationship with the joker was. Amanda Waller was underused. I enjoyed the film but from a film-making standpoint, it was very disappointing :(
I think the villain was fine. There is not much developing to do with a demon witch sociopath. The only problem I had with the film was that the beginning was kind of choppy and weird with effects other than that I loved it
I respect your opinion because everyone's opinion is valid. I personally thought the movie flowed well. At first I thought they rushed them going to Midway City but a lot happened there so they had to get there soon. Overall I thought it flowed well but everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I hope I didn't come across as a jerk or anything. If I did it certainly was not my intention.
It was ok. Not as bad as what Critics are saying but also not as good as fans are saying it is. It's just ok. Definitely a step up from Dawn of Justice, which I actually fell a sleep during, and it really changed the formula of DC related films by WB. The Marketing was great but what they showed didn't really prepare viewers for what was actually going to be in the film. I'm mostly not happy about that but the few surprises that occured during the film almost changed my mind. Almost. I still thought the marketing was pretty douchy showing us a lot of Joker and then in the film he's in it as a cameo. All the scenes in the trailers are pretty much every Joker scene in the movie. For the most part, it's a good popcorn movie to watch over the weekend. I think they over hyped it as usual with superhero cinematic movies. Half the characters are forgettable, the other half will never be forgotten. El Diablo was bauss. I was expecting another Fire Bender, but instead we get a freakin Demon. He was a massive surprise in the story for me and it made sense that he would be the one who would save the world. He was the one true good guy in the squad, so a hero really did save the world. The actor who plays him was fantastic. Loved every moment he had on screen. I didn't like Harley. I thought she became too annoying as the movie went on. I knew she was just there for fan servicing but it was worse than I thought it would be as I watched the movie. Her character serves no other purpose than being eye candy for fans. The movie could have done without her, or even not add her to the team at all but use her as a secondary villain with the Joker making things more difficult for the Squad. I just didn't like her in this movie. Love the actress but the character just made no sense to be part of the team. The end was strange. Fun for a while but then it started to feel very video gamey. The end really didn't help at all and was made worse by the bad pacing. Warner Bros, I know you like flash back and dream scenes, but they are actually making the movies very boring.
***** Exactly! We get Deadshot who's a good marksman. Killer Croc who's strong and can survive underwater. Diablo who controls fire. Hell, even Slipknot was more useful than her with his grappling. Harley? Her background is that she's a psychiatrist who went mad... that was literally the only reason she was recruited in the film.
+Taylor Muse Honestly opinions but BvS was waaaaay too long. They tried to put toooo much backstory for Batman that most us already knew. Barely any action scenes and the God awful Why did you say that name?
+Alvaro Perez I personally believe civil war was the best but deadpool and civil war are both insanely good movies. Theyre so good that its hard to compare them but I would say civil war had the slight edge for bringing such an amazing fight scene and having one of the best plots and character motivation/development out of a super hero movie ever
Civil war is dumb and the story is absolutely as asinine the whole time I'm watching it the more confused and frustrated that train wreck of a story played out nowhere near a 9 maybe a low 7 or high 6 just on pure action alone deadpool is deadpool and he can be sitting on the toilet for 120 mins and people will flock to it at least I really connected with most of the squad and their personalities and had way more substance than all the other marvel movies
Well you are in the minority... Most people like more the mcu than the Dcu, civil war is way better than suicide Squad and shall be remembered as the cmb of 2016 alongside Deadpool and possibly Dr.Strange, you would put Rdj in a toilet doing a monologue it would better acting than all the Dcu films, the epitome of bad acting is Eisenbergs Luthor ive never seen such cringe in a marvel movie.More substance than marvel movies? Worse acting, confusive plotlines(BVS,messy portuguese boat + kryptonite+god vs man plotlines are al disconnect),continuity errors(supermans heartbeat sensor is selective and only works for the sake of the plot- louis lane and not his mother and doesnt notices a the bomb on the parliment and doesnt give a crap about the explosion too),both have crappy villains(from what ive heard enchantress and luthor are worse than malekith),worse use of dialogue( just thatJustice league size reel is full of that, since more ezra miller shitty eisenbergs impersonation maybe thats beacause i havent any friends,i heard you talk to fishes, is she with you line when bruce knew who WW was all the time etc.Character development sucks( spider man has almost the same number of lines that superman in BVS ) ant man comes close in lines too in the film, people are more happy with ant mans take of Paul Rudd over mr wooden Canvills superman. I could be here all day explaining why the Dcu not Dc is inferior, but the Dc sheeps are killing the Dc verse by eating every piece of crap Warner bros gives them, maybe wonder woman will change that but i bet justice league is going to be another disaster...
Problems with BvS: - Lex should've been cast differently (perhaps Bryan Cranston) - No Doomsday - No Wonder Woman - All this combined would change the story quite a bit Problems with Suicide Squad: - Enchantress should've just been a cameo not a villain - Joker should've been the villain (so that these guys, especially Harley, have a need to band together) - No Boomerang (Even though I liked his character he should've been saved to be introduced in the Flash film, as his character served no real purpose and took up screen time) - Croc should've had a small backstory on how he's been trying to fit in and sacrificed himself or had a character moment in the sewer (instead was reduced to grunting muscle)
Dunno if it's been mentioned but there's an Easter egg where Amanda Waller holds up the detonator after the end fight and you see that Diablo's bomb didn't go off. So he may still be alive.
not sure if a troll or not. But comparing this garbage to civil was is just stupid. and btw katana was the worst character in that movie. Anyway your opinion is weird.
Hss Shei Not a troll, I'm just not really into the same conveyor, run of the mill shit you are in to. I'll enjoy a movie which I found to be much more entertaining.
Nils Engman Yes, Kill Bill. One of my favourite movies of all time. You know, Kill bill isn't the only revenge movie containing katana's out there. There can be more which exist.
you have a minecraft profile picture so im guessinh you're 13. you were prob 7 when the dark knight when it came out so yeah of course you would be scared shitless.
You know there are more types of The Joker. While Heaths Joker was more like a chaotic mofo who just enjoy to make destruction and shit, Jareds Joker was a gangster, the clown prince of crime, having his crazy gf by his side and conquering Gothams underground. If you will compare these two, you are an idiot. You can compare Nicholsons and Jareds Jokers, they are pretty much the same.
+David Mrocek Jared's Joker aesthetic came from Frank Miller's comic run. Joker had the tattoos (not sure about the grill) and the slicked back hair. Several of the outfits (the tuxedo and pimp outfits) were also from Miller's comics. So Leto definitely had canon(?) material as inspiration, if not material from one of DC's greatest writers
cubankhan Trust me, they are 10x worse. I think its better than Fan4stic because it did have some really awesome moments. Like Joker on the helicopter "come on baby". Or the scene when Deadshot sees his daughter in his head.
Marvin 777 Oh sure, Deadshot shooting all the faceless bad guys on the car roof, or several of HQ scenes. But IMO that's even more infuriating because of the wasted potential. Fan4stic had nothing going on from the start. It just turned Mara and the kid from Whiplash into movie poison.
they're 2 different kinds of movies. for example pacific rim got an awesometacular, and whiplash also got an awesometacular, that doesn't mean pacific rim is better than whiplash
Jack Dullboy I agree, both great great movies. It's Jeremy's opinion, and I'm glad that he isn't doing the "cynical RU-vidr" formula 90% of RU-vid does nowadays.
This movie was a garbage fire... interesting characters fighting a shitty villain that doesn't belong in that world. Seriously joker should have been the villain it would have made it more realistic like the other characters instead of some supernatural shit with enchantress. Also when El Diablo turned into that fire demon skeleton I was so damn furioso I almost left the theatre.
That's a good point. A movie grounded in characters needs to keep things small scale. Like Civil war got rid of Thor, Hulk and tamed down Vision and Scarlett and put focus on the human aspects. Wish Suicide Squad had done the same, would have been way better. But no complaints from my side- I take what I get.
Gonk Jesus you don't have to act like such a douchebag. Whiny DC fanboys are defending these crap movies because it's all they have. Face it, even you would admit that Joker would have been a better villain than enchantress. And it's not because I don't think a female villain can work it's because the joker is more grounded in reality than enchantress. Also this was not the team to take on enchantress. What good would bullets and a bat do against a supernatural being? Wonder Woman should have fought this threat, not the suicide squad. And believe me, I WANTED to like this movie. I WANTED it to be good. But it was just a plain mess.
People made it seem like he is a simple cameo. The Flash was a cameo. Batman was a cameo. The Joker was in a good chunk of the movie, flashbacks or real time doesn't really matter. He was a subplot but he was an important subplot. The point was what defines a real relationship? And would Quinn ever be truly happy with him?
I was only expecting fun and laughs in this movie. But I got really attached to the characters when I watched it. I was legit sad and frowning when I thought Deadshot eliminated Harley. And don't get me started with El Diablo.
I didn't really enjoy the movie too much, so much random things going on, the story only started from trying to create the squad in the first place. I never really cared for the characters in the entire movie, just not for me i guess. Also i thought the part where Deadshot tries to get Diablo to use his powers was just dumb, he is like 'ILL SHOW YOU WHAT I CAN DO", and then he just spurts out some lame fire in the boring-est way possible
Yea that's what I felt, the lame dialogue and cheap jokes were cringe worthy for me. The whole movie was made of slow motion, retro music in every scene, poor dialogue, lack of in depth story/common sense, and bad cgi ever....*sigh* The only parts that I liked was how they portrayed Harley and Joker's relationship, that's about it. The ending, the boss fight, was super disappointing.
Eden Is A Unicorn Giving number-grades next to movie titles is synonymous with proclaiming that intrinsically subjective scores are objective fact? Who knew. Perhaps we should preface our comments with "this is just my opinion, but" so as to not offend you.
well they're probably going to set that up later. But in the movie Katana says it has something to do with her dead husband. She has a small role on the CW Arrow show where she helps the Arrow so that's how I know a little bit of back story. On Arrow she and her husband help the Green Arrow and are also working for Amanda Waller. Her husband ends up with the League of Shadows because their son dies and she goes into monk like hiding. But saves Arrow a couple of times.
+Stephanie Fahey arrow is a shit show. Doesnt even stick to the comics at all, they dont even know wtf they are doing therefor dont try to explain it here
As a DC fan the film was so disappointing, in the first 5 minutes I knew the editing was gonna be bad. The film was just a mess, I didn't care for most of the team, apart from Harley and Deadshot. And Joker was barely in it.
+Jiveman219 Yes, but the marketing had him literally everywhere, on all the posters, on magazine covers and scenes in the trailers that weren't even in the film. I hope to god that Ayer doesn't leave the film as it is and does release an extended edition with the blu-ray.
This movie is a huge disappointment. Not even close to what it could have been. Joker was just ridiculous looking. The only good thing about the flick is I could at least gaze at Margot Robbie.
Lol agree the jokers look and he didn't act like his classic self where was the jokes and long laughs at? Why is he wearing multiple chains like a rapper
Why is everyone complaining about the joker not being in the movie enough ITS ABOUT THE SUICIDE SQUAD NOT HIM he was mainly there just for Harley and her back story since he literally did create her
Because most fans are idiotic posers who only know and like the Joker character thanks to TDK and don't really understand that the Suicide Squad team exists on it's own, independent of him.
Because the trailers made it seem that the SS was gonna go up against the Joker and his henchmen. They made it look like he was gonna be a big part of the movie.
Something strange I noticed was, if Joker owns clubs and shit, and he's known for it, why doesn't Batman just walk through the door, beat the shit out of everyone, grab the Joker and put him back in Arkham Asylum?
Enchantress was terrible in this movie lol. I liked most of the characters but cara delevigne is not a good actress, everything I've seen her in is shit. This is the classic case of Hollywood taking a model and make everyone think she is a good actress...she's not.
+eating raw faces is my least favorite thing to do. rightttt like bitch why didnt you just take those weapons before hand like tf but i still love cara bc shes my baby daddy 😂😂😂
Jared Leto is my absolute favorite actor, and I was incredibly disappointed with his performance in this movie. I felt like he was wasted, and I can definitely see why people aren't happy with his performance. I think Jeremy is wanting to see more of him because he knows what Leto is capable of, acting-wise at least. If you give him a better script and room to play around, he usually knocks it out of the park. I kind of agree with Jeremy here, I want him to have another opportunity, hopefully in a role where he actually gets to shine and isn't just a wild card attached to Harley the whole time. Because he really is one of the best actors in the business right now.
I thought it was different than any other Joker we got and that's what we needed. It would have been fucking dumb to have him in Ledger's makeup acting like him. The best route to take was one that was different. And we got different. I like the idea of Joker being a very Scarface-esque charater. I like that they did something new rather than rip off something another actor (especially one who is dead) has already done.
+Bailie Boo I totally agree with you, I think he is an amazing actor and I cannot describe you how sad I was when I saw him here. I still have hope for him; let's pray for the Batman solo movie
My question is, where was batman and the flash while all this was happening? I feel like they would step in to help midway city. Also, why was enchantress on the folder in the end credits with the flash and aqua man?
+JCJ88000 I don't think you understood the question. In the movie (and in BvS) they established Batman and the Flash as active crime fighters, so what I think he's asking is .. where the fuck were they when all this shit was happening? Not saying they should've been recruited into the team
DC tried way too hard to copy Guardians of the Galaxy but failed miserably. The jokes are corny, the pop culture references feel forced, the characters feel out of place. Like, why is Harley Quin necessary for the team? Why are Katana, Capt. Boomerang and Flag's soldier buddies, even included in the mission? It was never addressed nor were they shown to do anything special. Deadshot, El Diablo, Flag, and Killer Croc were the only ones that did something that can be called essential throughout the film. Harley Quin and the Joker should've been on a film of their own, all they do was distract the viewer from the film because their side of the story is entirely pointless.
+Steve Corona They are talking about the movies, not the comics, even still, the Guardians of the Galaxy comic isn't like the Suicide Comic at all and isn't a copy.
Slipnot or whatever his name was, was a waste. The action sequences wasn't that great and the jokes didn't land for me except one. Bad plot bad script. I liked BvS better than this pile of shit. And that's saying something. 3/10.
Finally saw it and I think it's a pretty awesome and fun time and it's definitely a step in the right direction for the DC films. I really enjoyed the majority of the Squad, especially Deadshot, Harley, Killer Croc, El Diablo and Captain Boomerang. Everyone pretty much knocks their roles out of the park and I thoroughly enjoyed them! Amanda Waller is a fucking bad ass. Jared Leto's Joker was good, sorta reminded me of Johnny Depp for some reason, but I will have to see more of him to make a full and complete judgment call. The main villain seemed a bit over the top for this type of film and didn't really seem to fit, but that's my only real complaint.
