Hello! I was the bass player in Suite Jayne. Edward Kemper. This video was offered to us for the use of our song, "Innocent Till Now", by Spectravision. There was more than an album's worth of material recorded but our deal never came through and eventually the band broke up. The original drummer was Mark Evans, apparently his son, Dylan, comments below. The lead guitarist in the video was Mark Miller, a great player who joined Suite Jayne near the end. Will Hopkins is the acoustic player in the video, but also played lead in our live shows. Jayne Wooten and her husband Tim were vocals and keyboards. Bill Ussery was the other original lead guitarist. He founded Austin Tone Labs, but died of cancer a while back. Another Austin legend and Jay Aaron veteran along with Mark Miller played drums on a few studio tracks and worked with us live many times, Chis Squires. Suite Jayne performed on a few early SXSW shows in the early years of the festival culminating in a headline show at the Austin City Coliseum on Saturday night! Ann Richards was the keynote speaker that year. We played Steamboat and The Backroom a lot as well as hrardrock/metal venues in San Antonio
Hi Edward! Is there any chance of that album's worth of material ever being released? Did Jayne and Tim ever go on to do anything else? I remember seeing this track on an episode of Playboy's Hot Rocks, which was awesome. For many years I tried to find out more info about the band but always came up stumped.
@@kellyl6883 Thanks for asking Kelly. It was a really good band and Tim and Jayne were very sweet people. We all hoped that the video would get some more attention but nothing ever came of it and you are now providing proof of why! I left Suite Jayne in 1992 and was invited to join a solo project for Doug Fieger, writer of My Sharona in the Knack. We did an album produced by Don Was featuring billy Preston, Skunk Baxter, Stan Lynch, and Benmont Tench. I lost touch with them after I left Austin but would hear an occassional bit of news. Jayne sang with Reggie Witty's acoustic band in Austin. Here's a link to one of Reggie's youtubes. You might be able to find out more about Tim and Jayne from him. I do know that guitarist Will Hopkins returned to live in his hometown of Dothan AL. He was the acoustic player in the video. Bill Ussery who recorded the original version with us died a few years ago from cancer. But that's about all I know.
@@baccusthedrunken are they still going and who is the vocalist and where are they from bud. I've been searching for years hoping to find more about this band. Would appreciate a response.
@@baccusthedrunken Sorry to bug you, but I was wondering if better audio of your dad's music exists than this video, or if the band made more than just this? This is fantastic stuff.
