A kiss without a word A kiss without a word A kiss without a word… Do you need me? Do you need me? Do you need me? Do you need me? A kiss without a word A kiss without a word A kiss without a word… Lie Lie Lie Lie… Do you need me? Do you need me? Do you need me? Do you need me? A kiss without a word A kiss without a word A kiss without a word…
I‘m really disappointed about their recent musical development. all their albums up to infinitum included genius music, versatile, many layers. I pick up an album and with years passing, it feels like I am discovering something new although I have listened to all the songs. since infinitum, their music has gotten really boring. I also don‘t like the electronic elements taking over more and more, because that band has sooo many exceptional talents that are amazing playing their instruments. this song is cool, it is catchy, but I am sure I‘m not gonna return to it in a few years.
I think you might be a bit biased about the electronic influences. It's not like the members stopped playing instruments and what they do now is just as difficult - if not more so because they are shartering new territory with this - than what they did with Immortalis. Infinitum is CRAZY when it comes to the layering and versatility which you prise in their 'earlier' albums. And it sure as hell is genuine music. Valentina seems to be 'lighter' and has this sound that you just wouldn't expect from these guys but it doesn't look like they are going to make an entire album with this sound! [which I don't even think would be a bad idea. I rather like this twist of having music like this mixed with Kyo's unique vocals and overall darker imagry.] These last releases rather remind me of Kyo's early poem book releases - I mean just listen to furesaseru and yumemi doro [and that brilliant demo version of rongai na ikimono toshite]. I don't want to quarral about taste but there is no WAY you can call them boring. To me that's pure suspece.
Kyo is the one who is doing these electronic sounds. I really dig it personally. And day bass tho. Everyone in this band is like a super musician. I've always listened to Dir en grey. So I really appreciate this softer side of Kyo. I think their very different and I know they will continue to change and grow. That's for sure.
The main problem may be the song structure, wich are unconventional but plain (not really a big twist). Also, the tracks don't have a lot of layers or song significance all the time. Since Infinitum they had some highlights in most of the songs (maybe a guitar solo, maybe the guitar or bass tone/work, maybe a crazy but well executed idea...), but the overall lacks that genius and understanding of their ideas that Adoratio showed us. Infinitum sounds like a collection of crazy ideas that sometimes works and sometimes don't, and Valentina is... The same, but it's lighter like Passio said, and maybe because it's shorter sounds way more consistent.
